The defeat means Chelsea are unlikely to win their group, with Flamengo three points and four goals better off.
Maresca's men will still scrape through should they avoid defeat against ES Tunis on Tuesday night.
But even if they do manage to limp on, the West Londoners will face a tough ask in the round of 16.
The runners-up in Chelsea's group will face the winners of Group C in the knockout phase.

As it stands this would be Harry Kane's Bayern Munich, who have so far beaten Auckland City and Boca Juniors.
The difficult match would take place at Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium on June 28.
Bayern could still fail to win their group, however, with Benfica able to pip them if they beat the Bavarians on Tuesday.
Even if Chelsea do manage to advance to the quarter-finals, there's a good chance that European champions Paris Saint-Germain would await them.

Should they do so, the French giants would play the winners of Group A, likely to be Palmeiras or Inter Miami, in the round of 16 - before possibly facing Chelsea.
The Blues initially led against Flamengo, going one up via in-form Pedro Neto.
Everything went wrong in the second half, however, with goals by Bruno Henrique and Danilo turning the match on its head, before Nicolas Jackson was sent off for a reckless challenge.
Wallace Yan's calm finish made the match safe late on, leaving Chelsea with it all to do.
After the match, boss Maresca said of his side's collapse: "It completely changed the game.
"Unfortunately we conceded two goals in a short moment and then the red card and then I think it is complicated to get back into the game.
"We tried – but congratulations to them. They deserved to win.
"We tried to do something different in the game, for next season and for the future."

Kylian Mbappe scores as Real Madrid knock Borussia Dortmund out of Club World Cup
Real Madrid edged past Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in a dramatic Club World Cup quarter-final on Saturday to set up a last-four clash with Paris St Germain. The Spanish giants stamped their authority on the match early at the MetLife Stadium, dominating possession and opening a two-goal lead thanks to strikes by Gonzalo and Fran Garcia in the 10th and 20th minutes. Gonzalo, the 21-year-old forward continuing his breakout tournament, opened the scoring with a close-range volley from Arda Guler's cross. Ten minutes later, Garcia doubled Real's lead, arriving at the far post to turn in Trent Alexander-Arnold 's low delivery after an incisive move down the right. Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. squandered chances to extend Real's lead before halftime, while Aurelien Tchouameni came closest in the second half, rattling the crossbar with a curling effort from the edge of the box. Despite the reduced intensity of play in New Jersey's scorching heat, Real comfortably saw out the match, leaving Dortmund unable to mount a comeback until the game exploded into life in 10 minutes of mayhem in added time. Substitute Maximilian Beier pounced on a rebound in the 93rd minute to pull one back for Dortmund, but a minute later Kylian Mbappe restored Real's two-goal cushion with a stunning volley. Dortmund refused to back down, however, and Serhou Guirassy's pace saw him break through Real's defence only to be pulled down in the box by Dean Huijsen. The defender was shown a straight red card, ruling him out of the semi-final, and Guirassy coolly converted the resulting spot-kick to reduce the deficit to 3-2. Dortmund came within inches of forcing extra time when in the ninth minute of added time Thibaut Courtois produced a sensational save to deny Marcel Sabitzer 's powerful strike. "We were doing really well and the match looked under control but then in the last 10 minutes things got crazy," Real manager Xabi Alonso told DAZN. "We have lost a little bit our focus and intensity when we didn't have the ball and luckily nothing else happened. But overall we have had good 80 minutes and the last 10 minutes to improve." Real Madrid now turn their attention to PSG, who defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 to book their place in the semi-finals. The winners of that clash will face Fluminense or Chelsea, who meet on Tuesday, in the final.

Manuel Neuer blames Gianluigi Donnarumma after Jamal Musiala suffers broken leg at Club World Cup
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has accused his PSG counterpart Gianluigi Donnarumma of recklessness after Jamal Musiala suffered a broken leg during their Club World Cup quarter-final in Atlanta. Musiala was injured in added time before the break following a collision in PSG's penalty area. As the 22-year-old rushed into a challenge with defender William Pacho, PSG keeper Donnarumma dived on to the ball and inadvertently rolled over Musiala's left leg, twisting it at an alarming angle. Bayern's medical team rushed on to the pitch as Donnarumma, visibly shaken, dropped to the ground with his hands on his head in disbelief at the severity of the injury. Players from both teams formed a circle around Musiala who was carried off the field on a stretcher. PSG went on to win the game thanks to Desire Doue's late goal. Afterwards Neuer said: "It was a situation where you don't have to go in like that. That's risk-taking. He was prepared to accept the risk of injuring his opponent.' Neuer added: "I went to him and said, 'Don't you want to go and see our player?' It's a matter of respect, of going there and wishing the guy all the best. He then did it. Fairplay is always a part of it. I would have reacted differently." Donnarumma was clearly upset during the match and posted on Instagram afterwards: 'All my prayers and well wishes are with you Jamal Musiala.' But Bayern's director of sport Max Eberl was also critical of the Italy international. 'When I jump onto his [Musiala's] lower leg while sprinting, weighing 100 kg, there's a high risk of something happening,' Eberl said. 'I don't think he did it intentionally, but he also wasn't being considerate.' The Bayern manager, Vincent Kompany, said his 'blood was boiling' after losing Musiala to such a serious injury, which is likely to mean several months out of action. "I've rarely been so angry at half time, not against my players - I know there are much more important things in life, but for these guys it's their life. Someone like Jamal lives for this. He just came back from a setback and now this happens. You feel powerless. My blood is still boiling right now, not because of the result, that's football. But because it happened to someone that enjoys the game so much.' PSG vice-captain Achraf Hakimi said: 'I send him all my support. I hope he'll be back soon and we'll soon see him on the pitch again.'

Kylian Mbappe dedicates stunning scissor-kick to Diogo Jota as Real Madrid survive late scare to beat Borussia Dortmund in thriller after THREE goals in added time- and set up crunch semi-final clash with PSG
Kylian Mbappe scored an acrobatic scissor-kick to set up a Club World Cup semi-final showdown with his old employers Paris Saint-Germain and dedicated his celebration to the late Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. Mbappe, who recently returned from acute gastroenteritis, was brought on as a substitute in the 67th minute after Xabi Alonso again opted to start one of Real Madrid 's own in Gonzalo Garcia instead. Real were already leading 2-0 when Mbappe was introduced, but Borussia Dortmund got a goal back in stoppage time through Maximilian Beier and that kickstarted a frantic finale at the MetLife Stadium. Mbappe's volley from Arda Guler's cross – and tribute to Jota in creating the number 20 with his fingers towards the cameras – followed as it appeared Real were indeed cruising through. However, while we were all watching the replays on the big screen, Dortmund were awarded a penalty and Real were shown a straight red card. Dean Huijsen had pulled back Serhou Guirassy when he was through on goal. Guirassy stepped up himself and scored to make it 3-2. Seconds later, Thibaut Courtois prevented this game from going to extra time with perhaps the save of the Club World Cup, denying Marcel Sabitzer with a remarkable stop while diving down to his right-hand side in the 10th minute of stoppage time. With PSG beating Bayern Munich earlier in the day, we will now see a semi-final between the 2025 Champions League winners versus Real, the 15-time conquerers of that European competition. Chelsea will face Fluminense in the other semi. This was only Mbappe's second appearance of the Club World Cup, having also been a substitute versus Juventus in the last 16. In his absence, and that of Endrick, Gonzalo Garcia has stepped up and then some. The 21-year-old Madrid-born forward – linked with Chelsea, of course – scored his fourth goal in five games in the United States to give Real the lead over Dortmund here. It was so simple, too, as he found the space he needed to tap in Guler's cross. In scoring, he took himself to the top of the Golden Boot leaderboard, level with Angel Di Maria of Benfica and Marcos Leonardo of Al-Hilal. This follows on from him scoring 25 goals in 36 games for Real Madrid Castilla – their reserve side – over the last season alongside the odd senior appearance. The MetLife Stadium's crowd was 90 per cent in support of Real and they went wild upon their side taking the lead in the 10th minute. It was 2-0 after 20 minutes when Trent Alexander-Arnold underlapped and sprinted on to a ball in behind. His cross evaded every man in yellow in the box as it trickled to the arriving Fran Garcia, who scored from eight yards. There was also Jude Bellingham for Real, but no Jobe for Dortmund, owing to the younger brother being suspended. The older sibling should have added a third for Real after a gorgeous dummy by Vinicius Junior left him with only Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to beat, but he dragged wide with his weaker foot. Like Bellingham, Vinicius then squandered his own opportunity to make it three when Real launched into a lightning counter-attack from a Dortmund corner. Kobel was still backtracking towards his box when Vinicius tried but failed to execute a lob. Really, he should have scored. In the 62nd minute, Aurelien Tchouameni curled one from 25 yards. Kobel was rooted, and then grateful when the ball crashed back off his crossbar. Mbappe was introduced after 67 minutes – to a loud ovation from the 76,611 supporters in attendance – alongside Luka Modric and Dani Ceballos. Vinicius, Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold were replaced in that triple substitution. Amid five minutes of stoppage time, Dortmund got a goal back through Beier's strike. Moments later, Real restored their two-goal lead with Mbappe scoring a scissor-kick at the back post from Guler's cross. Immediately from the restart, Dortmund were awarded a penalty as Huijsen fouled Guirassy, who converted to make it 3-2 as Real were reduced to 10 men. At the very end, Courtois produced a stupendous save, denying Sabitzer with remarkable reactions. After a breathless finish, it is Real who will face PSG in the semis.
