Detroit-Windsor Tunnel remains open during Detroit Grand Prix

CTV News26-05-2025
The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will remain open to motorists throughout the pre-race track setup and the 2025 Detroit Grand Prix, but there are some changes.
From May 29-June 1, motorists are encouraged to show a dashboard placard to access the Tunnel. Placards are available at the Windsor and Detroit toll plazas.
Traffic will be re-routed to allow motorists to enter and exit the tunnel safely without entering the race route. When heading from Windsor to Detroit, take a right turn onto Jefferson upon exiting the tunnel and head to I-375. Heading from Detroit to Windsor, the best route is also I-375 to access Jefferson Avenue and follow posted signage to reach the tunnel entrance.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for travel due to the increased traffic and security in the area.
For Tunnel Bus users: From May 28 to June 1, Transit Windsor will operate a shortened route between the Transit Terminal in downtown Windsor and the Detroit Tunnel Plaza only.

A Little Good News for Ford Investors -- But There's a Catch

Key Points Ford's employee pricing campaign lured in the customers. Following employee pricing is another incentive push. The model you want might not be included. 10 stocks we like better than Ford Motor Company › If you follow Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), or perhaps the auto industry in general, you've likely heard about Ford's "From America, For America" campaign offering employee pricing discounts on select 2024 and 2025 models during the second quarter. The deal that helped drive solid results for the company. (More on this in a second.) That incentive is officially over, right as broader auto sales are expected to slump due to tariff effects. But fear not -- there's good news on another upcoming incentive. Let's look at the results from Ford's employee discounting and what to expect going forward. Everyone loves employee pricing If investors were counting on employee pricing discounts to bring in consumers, it delivered. As customers cashed in on the incentive campaign, so did Ford, with second-quarter U.S. light-vehicle sales rising 14%, compared to the prior year. That 14% gain was about 10 times the estimated 1.4% industry increase. Furthermore, Ford's market share jumped 1.8 percentage points. "We blew the doors off the overall industry with our second-quarter sales," Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e, said in a press release. Now, with Q2 in the books, analysts generally expect a slump in automotive sales in the U.S. in the second half of 2025 as tariff effects begin to filter through the industry. We're already seeing some effect, especially on electric vehicles (EVs). After Ford announced in May that it was raising the price on the Mach-E, which is built in Mexico and subject to tariffs, sales of the vehicle dropped 20% during Q2. Ford's F-150 Lightning and E-Transit sales were down 26% and 88%, respectively. But the good news for Ford investors is that the automaker isn't simply ending incentives, of course. It has the second part of its one-two punch coming. What's the catch? Ford begins the third quarter with most Ford and Lincoln models offering no-interest financing for 48 months, no money down, and no payments for the first 90 days. The deal runs through Sept. 2. It's a strategic move. Ford believes that people have seen increasing costs in other parts of their lives, including higher mortgage rates. Management thinks that forgoing an up-front down payment will enable people to purchase a new vehicle. Now, there is a small catch for customers and, indirectly, investors. Ford did note that the third-quarter incentive excludes the 2025 Bronco Sport, Expedition, Maverick, Ranger, Transit, Super Duty, and Lincoln Navigator. It also excludes the 2024 Maverick, Ranger, Transit, Super Duty, F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E, as well as both year models of the high-performance Raptor. What it all means for Ford investors A potential catch for investors is that these incentives can erode profits if done irresponsibly. We haven't seen the industry in "bad incentive spending" mode in a long time, and that shouldn't be a concern here, either. Ford's upcoming incentive campaign is good news for investors after it just finished a strong employee pricing campaign that drove sales and market share higher. This also shows that Ford is in tune with its dealership network -- ask Stellantis how important that is -- and that it's attempting to offset what is expected to be a weaker second half of the year. It's all just a little good news for an automaker's stock that has failed to gain traction with Wall Street. Should you invest $1,000 in Ford Motor Company right now? 3 Top Electric Vehicle (EV) Stocks to Buy in July

Key Points Rivian and Lucid Group share prices have plenty of upside. But there's one classic EV stock investors shouldn't ignore. 10 stocks we like better than Lucid Group › If you're looking for huge growth potential, check out electric car stocks. These businesses are hard to get off the ground. But once growth begins, it can be hard to stop. Just take a look at Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA). Since 2010, its shares have increased in value by more than 23,000%. Looking to grow your portfolio with EV stocks? Here are your best three options right now. Rivian could be the next Tesla If I had to identify the next Tesla, Rivian (NASDAQ: RIVN) would be my top choice. The company recently achieved positive gross margins for the first time, adding significant credibility to its ability to survive financially. But the biggest reason for optimism is still ahead. By early 2026, management expects to begin production of three new vehicles. All are expected to be priced under $50,000. That's a huge deal. Being able to produce an EV at this price point is difficult for most EV start-ups to achieve. As both Tesla and Rivian have proven, it can often take more than a decade, not to mention billions of dollars in investment. Producing cheap vehicles under $50,000 -- so-called "mass market" vehicles -- is a huge deal for several reasons. First, it will allow Rivian to tap tens of millions of new buyers. Today, Tesla's mass market vehicles account for more than 90% of its vehicle sales. That's a huge testament to its ability to grow an EV business rapidly. Getting these vehicles to market will give Rivian a multiyear runway for sizable growth. Second, purchasers are more cost conscious than ever. Recent surveys show that more than 80% of car buyers would cancel their order if prices rose by 25%. Trading at just 2.8 times earnings, Rivian's growth potential in 2026 and 2027 doesn't seem fully accounted for in the company's stock price. This EV stock has huge growth potential Speaking of huge growth possibilities, arguably no EV stock today has more upside potential than Lucid Group (NASDAQ: LCID). With a market cap of just $7 billion, Lucid is less than half the size of Rivian, and less than 1% the size of Tesla. On a market cap basis alone, Lucid has a lot of room for growth. Like Rivian, Lucid is planning to start production of several new mass market vehicles next year, though the recent departure of its CEO and a relatively limited access to capital may push this timeline out a bit. Still, by 2027, expect Lucid to have at least one model priced under $50,000 in its lineup. More than 30 EV start-ups have gone under in the past decade. And Lucid still has a long way to go to get its mass market vehicles on the road. But the growth potential is clearly there. Investors looking to get aggressive to maximize growth potential should take a closer look. Tesla still has plenty of room to grow No list of promising EV stocks would be complete without Tesla. With a $960 billion market cap, Tesla is clearly the industry giant. But according to some analysts, the company's biggest days of growth remain ahead. Last month, Tesla officially launched its robotaxi service in Austin, Texas. While the rollout has been rocky, Tesla is reportedly planning to expand this service to new areas of Austin relatively soon. How big could this global robotaxi market get? Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, think the market size will eventually reach $10 trillion. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives thinks this opportunity could soon add $1 trillion to Tesla's market cap. Rivian and Lucid's diminutive size likely grants them higher raw upside potential. But Tesla's robotaxi division could surprise the market by fueling another decade of impressive growth for the company. Should you invest $1,000 in Lucid Group right now? Should You Buy Ford While It's Below $13?

Key Points Ford is facing an earnings decline of $1.5 billion due to tariffs, and management cut its guidance for the year. The carmaker's shares look inexpensive, but it's unclear where the company's growth catalyst will come from. 10 stocks we like better than Ford Motor Company › Investors on the hunt for a good deal right now may be eyeing Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F). It's understandable that the automaker is at the top of some investors' lists, considering that the company pays an impressive dividend yield above 6% and its shares are trading at an attractive valuation compared to the rest of the market. Its shares have a price-to-earnings multiple of 10 compared to an average of 29 for the S&P 500 index. But despite the stock being a relatively good deal and the company paying an impressive dividend, there are some risks facing Ford right now that investors should be aware of, too. Here are a couple of them and why it's probably not time to buy Ford stock. Tariffs could cost Ford $1.5 billion To say that there's a lot of uncertainty in the automotive industry right now would be a huge understatement. President Donald Trump's auto tariffs, introduced in April, have caused panic among automakers large and small as they try to navigate an increasingly complex parts and production environment. The dust hasn't settled on the tariff uncertainty, but one thing is for sure: Tariffs hurt automakers, including Ford. The company has about 17% of its North American production in Mexico and Canada, and Ford's management said that the result of tariffs will be an adverse adjusted impact of $1.5 billion on its earnings this year. Management also said that "due to tariff-related uncertainty," it was pulling its full-year earnings and revenue guidance. While Ford may not be as exposed to tariff impacts as some automakers, it's clear that the company could feel the pinch nonetheless. And with tariff negotiations still ongoing, it's unclear how much they might continue to impact Ford over the next few years. Car buyers are getting jittery about the economy There's some evidence that prospective car buyers have turned their noses up at shelling out tens of thousands of dollars for a new vehicle. While there was an initial rush of buying cars when tariffs were announced, consumer surveys are already showing that buyers are holding off on big purchases as they grow cautious about the economy. Ford knows this, and it's why the company launched an employee pricing incentive just a few months ago. Most recently, it introduced a new incentive program for the summer called "0-0-0," in which customers can buy a new Ford for $0 down, pay 0% interest for 48 months, and make no payments for the first 90 days. The hope is that the new incentive will get buyers off the sidelines and spur sales. But even if it helps in the short term, many buyers may wait until all of the tariff uncertainty is over before they feel comfortable committing to an expensive new vehicle. And while most economists have backed away from some of their most dire warnings after tariffs were first announced, some still put the odds of a recession over the next year at 40%. Ford's stock is unlikely to outpace the market Ford's shares have tumbled 17% over the past 10 years, while the S&P 500 has soared more than 200%. That's not a great track record for an investment and while Ford could always come up with some new product or service that causes its shares to soar, it's pretty unlikely. Most large automakers are making slow changes to their businesses, and this sluggish pace of innovation typically doesn't lead to impressive stock price jumps. Sure, automakers -- Ford included -- experienced a share price surge a couple of years ago when electric vehicle (EV) interest was on the rise, but Ford's stock has given up all those gains since then, and its EV future is a bit unstable. Consider that the company's EV segment is still in the red, losing $849 million in the first quarter, at a time when the federal government just axed EV tax credit incentives and is fighting with states over funding for EV charging infrastructure. In short, there doesn't appear to be a major catalyst on the horizon for Ford's stock. As such, it's probably better to put your money elsewhere. And if history is any predictor, an S&P 500 exchange-traded fund might end up being a better bet. Should you invest $1,000 in Ford Motor Company right now?
