Shilpa Shirodkar says she's 10th fail, married a man who is ‘double MBA' and a banker; quit films to live with him in New Zealand: ‘I never felt small'
Talking about quitting the film industry when she was at the top of her game, she told Pinkvilla, 'I don't regret taking a break. I miss being busy, but I married such a sweet, nice and simple man and that was important for me to start my life. Unfortunately, I left India and which is why it was difficult for me to continue working. If I would have gotten married in India, I would have hundred percent continue working.'
Shilpa admitted that she never wanted to never feels Mumbai — let alone the country — but her perspective changed after meeting her now-husband for the first time. She agreed to follow him overseas. Talking about the same, she said, 'It was an easy decision. When it is your choice, things are very easy. It was my choice. I never wanted to leave Mumbai as I was very close to my parents, but then I met my husband and within one and a half day, I said yes to him knowing that he is not going to be in India, he is going to go abroad to study. So the bottom line was that I would also be leaving India. I just liked his honesty so much that I didn't even think what am I doing. Everything fell in place.'
Shilpa also reflected on the contrast in their educational qualifications — her being a Class 10 dropout and her husband a double MBA — but said she never felt small or inferior in front of him. 'I am a 10th fail. My husband is a banker. He is a double MBA and he is very well read and very different. I can talk to him and his colleagues about everything and the life that I have seen with him, I never felt small in front of him,' she said.
When asked if she got any film offers after her marriage, she said, 'At that time, it wasn't the space when women would get rules after marriage, so I don't think anybody reached out to me, and I wasn't such a big star also. I don't think I was so popular that people wanted me to come back. People were also happy ki gayi toh gayi there are many others.' Shilpa admitted that moving abroad, navigating life without friends, and learning to live on a budget shaped her as a person.

New Mom Kiara Advani Is All Set For War 2 Trailer; Posts BTS Pic With Hrithik Roshan
Kiara Advani is set to star in War 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, directed by Ayan Mukerji. The film's trailer releases on July 25. Kiara Advani is entering a new phase in both her personal and professional lives. While she is experiencing the joy of motherhood on one hand, on the other is the release of her first high-octane action film, War 2, co-starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. A day before the film's trailer release, Kiara posted a rare behind-the-scenes photo from War 2 shoot, featuring Hrithik and the film's director, Ayan Mukerji. In the photo, Kiara Advani looks super-fit in a tank top and trousers. Her look was amplified with boots. Hrithik Roshan, dressed in a casual shirt and jeans, posed with Ayan. 'All set for tomorrow", wrote an excited Kiara, as she shared a seemingly throwback photo from the film's shoot set abroad. Take a look: Earlier this week, makers revealed that War 2 trailer will be released on July 25. YRF took to its Instagram handle and shared the poster along with an announcement note. 'ANNOUNCEMENT: #WAR2 trailer out on July 25th. #War2 is set to release in Hindi, Telugu & Tamil on August 14th in cinemas worldwide!" As soon as the date was revealed, fans reacted. One of the fans wrote, 'Major Kabir Dhaliwal vs The Lethal Force Agen Vikram.' Another wrote, 'Can't wait." Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, and the sixth installment in Yash Raj Films' ambitious Spy Universe – home to Pathaan and Tiger 3. The film marks a major milestone for the franchise, featuring Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as Kabir, the enigmatic secret agent, and Jr NTR making his Bollywood debut in what is widely speculated to be a villainous role. Kiara Advani also joins the high-octane ensemble in a significant part. The teaser, released earlier, offered fans a thrilling glimpse of what's to come, and buzz around the full trailer hints at intense action sequences, emotional undercurrents, and even a possible dance face-off between the film's two leading men – though this has yet to be confirmed. Interestingly, Hrithik and Jr NTR will not be promoting the film together and are expected to undertake promotional duties separately. War 2 is not just a standalone action spectacle. It's also a strategic setup for the next chapter in the YRF Spy Universe – Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt. While rumours suggest Alia might make a brief appearance in War 2, there has been no official confirmation on the cameo. Recently, director Ayan Mukerji took to Instagram to unveil a striking new poster featuring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani. 'The biggest showdown of the year loading… #30DaysToWar2 #War2 only in theatres from 14th August. Releasing in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil," he wrote in the caption. Adding to the buzz is Kiara Advani's return to the big screen – this will be her first film release following the birth of her daughter with husband Sidharth Malhotra on July 15. She was seen wearing a golden bikini in the film's teaser. Backed by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films, War 2 is set to roar into theatres on August 14, just in time for Independence Day, promising a grand, multilingual cinematic showdown that's poised to shake up the spy universe once again. ‘Kajol would change behind a tree, I combed her hair, her mom Tanuja did her make-up': Karan Johar recalls DDLJ shoot in Switzerland with 21-member crew
Aditya Chopra's Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is still considered to be one of the most popular films of Hindi cinema. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, the 1995 film was set across UK, Europe and India and a large part of it was shot in Switzerland. Karan Johar, during a recent interview, shared that the crew of the film only consisted of 21 people when they were shooting in Switzerland. Karan was one of the assistant directors on the film. In a chat with Jay Shetty on his podcast, Karan shared that working on DDLJ for one year was the 'best learning' of his life. He shared that they did not have any extra helping hands and did everything on their own. He recalled buying accessories for the female actors on the film from railway stations for lesser cost and arranging their costumes. Recalling their time in Switzerland, he shared, 'When we shot in Switzerland, we were a unit of 21 people, just 21 people making a movie in one bus. We would sit in one bus, we would drive and Adi would look at the locations and say, 'Stop. This looks beautiful. Let's go film'.' Karan shared that they would ask Kajol behind a tree so she could change when they were filming on the go. 'We used to take Kajol behind a tree and make her wear a saree, and Shah Rukh would change anywhere and then come and shoot and then we would get back into that bus,' he shared and added that since they were a small crew, everyone did all kinds of jobs, which meant that even the stars would carry equipments. 'Everyone held equipment and walked up, like if you had to shoot on a mountain top. Shah Rukh was holding equipment and Kajol was too, literally everyone was a team. There was no additional help, support. Today, everyone is so spoilt,' he shared. The actors did not even have an entourage then. 'I remember when Kajol was there, her hair and make up person did not get a visa. I was brushing her hair on set and her mother was doing her make up,' he shared and recalled another anecdote from the filming of 'Tujhe Dekha To'. He shared that Kajol was supposed to wear a saree in the snow but at the time of filming, they realised that no one on set knew how to tie a saree. 'So I went by memory and rememebred how I had seen my mom wear it. We tied that saree in some way, which, according to me, looks terrible and if anybdy watches DDLJ, it is the electric blue saree she wears in the snow in the song Tujhe Dekha Toh where Shah Rukh is in a red shirt. Her saree is like a kaftan on her. We didn't know what to do, we had no one to help us,' Karan said and concluded, 'Still, we had the best time.'
