MLS All-Star Game score, goals: Highlights as MLS defeats Liga MX
Baribo earned MLS All-Star MVP honors after his goal in the 51st minute secured the victory for MLS, which avenged a 4-1 loss to its Liga MX counterparts last year in Columbus, Ohio.
Baribo finished an assist from the Columbus Crew's Diego Rossi, who also had an assist in the 2024 MLS All-Star game.
Surridge, tied with Lionel Messi for the Golden Boot lead with 18 goals this season, scored in the 28th minute on an assist from LAFC star Denis Bouanga to kick-start the MLS effort.

White, one of four Vancouver All-Stars, scored in the 80th minute to seal the victory, with an assist from Philip Zinckernagel (Chicago Fire) and the second assist from Cristian Espinoza (San Jose Earthquakes).
The most noteworthy goal in the match was scored by 16-year-old Gilberto Mora in the 64th minute. Mora plays for Club Tijuana, and started for Mexico in its Concacaf Gold Cup win against the U.S. men's national team last month.
The victory helped MLS take a 3-1 lead in its All-Star series against Liga MX.
Messi and fellow Inter Miami All-Star Jordi Alba did not play in the match.

Vancouver's Brian White scored in the 80th minute to restore a two-goal lead for the MLS All-Stars. White was assisted by Philip Zinckernagel (Chicago Fire), with the second assist by Cristian Espinoza (San Jose Earthquakes).
The goal was awarded to White, despite the ball being deflected off the foot of Liga MX's Brian Rodriguez and into the net.

The MLS All-Stars nearly broke the scoreless deadlock in the 13th minute following a corner kick. Following the corner, the ball bounced to FC Cincinnati's Evander, who rifled a shot on goal from outside the 18-yard box that was saved by Club América's Luis Malagón, who dove to make the one-handed block.

Lakers are monitoring the situation with former All-Star center
It is presumed that the Los Angeles Lakers are done making roster moves this offseason. However, there is always the chance that they make a move or two once the season gets started. With the NBA's new ultra-restrictive salary cap now in full effect and teams across the league feeling its effects, there have been perfectly viable players getting their contracts bought out. The Lakers have capitalized on this trend by signing 26-year-old potential-laden center Deandre Ayton and 2022 Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart. Ideally, they would find a better backup behind Ayton than Jaxson Hayes. There is reportedly a chance that Nikola Vučević, a veteran center who has made the All-Star team twice, will get his contract bought out by the Chicago Bulls. According to Anthony Irwin of ClutchPoints, the Lakers are "closely monitoring that situation." "This does leave a few interesting free agents still, not even including eventual buyout candidates like Chicago's Nikola Vučević," Irwin wrote. "As they did with Smart, the Lakers are closely monitoring that situation." Vucevic will turn 35 years of age in late October and is noticeably unathletic, not to mention a weak defender. But he has shown some ability to hit the 3-point shot over the years, although his 3-point efficiency has fluctuated from year to year, and he's a capable rebounder. This past season, he averaged 18.5 points, 10.1 rebounds and 0.7 blocks a game while shooting 53% from the field and 40.2% from 3-point range. The previous season, he made 29.4% of his 3-point attempts. As of now, the Lakers have just over $1 million of space under the first apron of the salary cap, which isn't enough to sign him to the veteran's minimum contract.

Rob Manfred opens up on heated clubhouse confrontation with Bryce Harper
Rob Manfred took the nothing-to-see-here approach when addressing being cursed out by Bryce Harper during a recent visit to the Phillies' clubhouse. The MLB commissioner spoke with reporters Friday after announcing the 2027 All-Star Game is headed to Wrigley Field and discussed the heated verbal confrontation with Harper last week, first reported by The Post's Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman. 'You know, I don't talk about those player meetings,' Manfred said in Chicago. 'Let me say this: I think more has been made out of this than needs to be made out of it. Getty Images Harper told Manfred to leave the Phillies clubhouse if he was there to discuss the possibility of a salary cap in the next collective bargaining agreement (CBA), with ESPN reporting the first baseman told the commissioner he should 'get the f–k out' if that was the case. The visit was part of Manfred's annual tour of MLB teams and he was only about five minutes into seeing the Phillies when Harper strongly interjected himself. A salary cap has long been a contentious issue, with MLB being the only major sport without some form of one, and appears to be so again with the league's CBA set to expire after next season. The Phillies are among MLB's highest spending teams, fourth in the league at $289 million, only trailing the Dodgers, Mets and Yankees. Until then, Harper will be mostly focused on keeping the Phillies on top of the NL East as they battle with the Mets in his attempt to win his first World Series. Philadelphia enters Saturday a half-game ahead of the Mets after the latter lost their fourth straight game Friday night, this one a 4-3 home setback in 10 innings to the Giants.

USA Goalkeeper Matt Turner Back in MLS, Re-Joins Revs on Loan From Lyon
Matt Turner is returning to his MLS roots as he looks to get back into position to compete for the starting job as the U.S. national team's goalkeeper. Turner will join the New England Revolution on loan from French Ligue 1 club Lyon through June 2026, the Revolution announced Friday. The deal includes an option to purchase the contract of Turner, who will be a designated player on the Revolution's roster for the remainder of the 2025 season. He'll be eligible for targeted allocation money in 2026. One of the reasons that Turner was displaced by New York City FC's Matt Freese as the U.S. starter at goalkeeper for the CONCACAF Gold Cup matches in June and July was that he hadn't played consistently at the club level for France's Lyon. Turner, 31, became the No. 1 U.S. goalkeeper ahead of the 2022 World Cup and had started 14 consecutive competitive matches for the U.S. and 23 of 24 before the Gold Cup. Turner will now look to get back to that level in New England, where he made his pro debut in 2016. He last played for New England in 2022, posting a 53.3% save percentage over five starts.
