Jake Paul banned from UFC events after dispute with Dana White

The 'Problem Child' and the UFC president have been involved in a bitter feud of the last few years - with White recently reigniting their war of words following a stunning claim Jake Paul is adamant he remains banned from attending UFC events following an ongoing disputed with Dana White. The ban may not come as a surprise to many fans as the YouTuber-turned-boxer has been involved in a bitter feud with the UFC president for nearly four years - which began after the 'Problem Child' brutally slammed fighters' pay in the promotion. The last UFC event Paul was able to attend was UFC 261 in April 2021, watching on as former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman brutally knocked out Jorge Masvidal in their rematch. ‌ The 28-year-old was booed by the Florida crowd on that night as they chanted "F*** Jake Paul" and he even had to be separated from UFC legend turned broadcaster Daniel Cormier after getting into an altercation with him at cageside. After trying to buy tickets to attend another UFC event after that night in Florida, Paul later found out he was banned from attending any future events. ‌ "Dana banned me after they were yelling f*** Jake Paul in the stadium, then I tried to go to a different fight and all of our tickets were declined. His assistant was like 'get the f*** out of here', and then escorted me out of the event," Paul said on his podcast. Last October, White rubbished claims that Paul was forbidden from attending any UFC events. He declared that he was barred from the promotion's fights ahead of sneaking into their landmark card at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The youngster, who has been critical of the UFC over the years, asserted he was banned from all events back in 2022 before posting a video of himself wearing a fake beard, wig, flannel shirt, and sunglasses in an attempt to 'sneak into the Sphere' last year. The American managed to sneak in and claim a spot near some of the big names in the organisation. White later revealed Paul's antics had been pointless. "Oscar De La Hoya was there. OK, let's put it that way," he said at the Dana White's Contender Series. "Nobody's banned from the UFC. Listen, that kid knows how to market and do his thing and all that good s***. Jake Paul's welcome to come to UFC." Paul is set to return to the ring tonight against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Coincidentally, his showdown with the Mexican takes place on the same night as UFC 317 - headlined by a lightweight title fight between Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira. Ahead of fight night, White renewed his war of words with Paul when he claimed he did not know the YouTuber-turned-boxer would be back in action this weekend. Paul has recently responded to White in some fashion, saying: "[The] UFC is dying. They don't have any current stars, they have skilful fighters, but it's all boring wrestling. Where the Dagestani fighters are winning everything by taking everyone to the ground." He added: 'He can say whatever he wants, but you told him about the fight, right?. So now he knows. That's what press and media is. We're selling the pay-per-views. So maybe people don't know about it today or tomorrow, but on Saturday they're all going to know.'

Indiana Fever hold off Dallas Wings comeback, get the win with Caitlin Clark sidelined

DALLAS – With Caitlin Clark out again, the Indiana Fever turned to their present stars to prevent another late collapse. Kelsey Mitchell scored 32 points with seven assists and Aliyah Boston scored 21 as the Fever outlasted the Dallas Wings 94-86 at American Airlines Center. Natasha Howard's 15 points and 13 rebounds included multiple clutch baskets after the Wings took their first lead with under 5:30 to play. On a one-night turnaround after a frustrating home loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday, the Fever summoned enough finish to improve to 8-8. Three takeaways from Friday's victory: Friday's game was moved to American Airlines Center to accommodate the first pro matchup between Caitlin Clark and Wings star Paige Bueckers. Dallas set a franchise record by selling out the 20,000-seat arena. However, anticipation began to dim a bit when Clark missed Thursday's home loss to the Los Angeles Sparks with a left groin injury. Coach Steph White classified her star guard as "day to day." But the Fever ruled her out for Saturday about five-and-a-half hours prior to tipoff. The Fever improved to 3-4 this season without Clark. White said Clark remains day-to-day. The team remains "hypersensitive" to the long-term best interests of their franchise star. The Fever next play Tuesday at Minnesota in the Commissioner's Cup Championship, then return to Indy for a five-game home stand. White inserted Aali McDonald into the starting lineup, hoping her downhill style and energy would help park a fast start. Mission accomplished. The Fever built a 19-3 lead over the first five-plus minutes, thriving in transition and playing efficiently in half-court offense. They also locked Paige Bueckers out for a single first-quarter field goal. The entire Wings team went without one for a five-minute, 17-second stretch of the opening period. Meanwhile, the Fever made 76% of their shots from the field in the first quarter -- helping the lead swell to 23 at one point. They kept that field goal clip going well into the second quarter. White went into halftime fuming, though. A sloppy end to the second quarter led to a buzzer-beating deep 3 by Bueckers. What had been a 23-point lead was only 13 at intermission. With 5:27 left in the third quarter, a basket and and-one free throw by former Fever forward NaLysa Smith cut the deficit to three, 62-59. Boston and Mitchell combined for eight points and two assists over the next few minutes to push the lead back to nine. But Smith's late offensive rebound set up Azaih James' floater in the final seconds. The Fever took a fragile 74-69 lead into the fourth quarter.

Caitlin Clark remains 'day to day' as Indiana Fever prioritize big picture on star's health

DALLAS – Caitlin Clark remains "day to day," according to Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White, who said all decisions right now are based on the guard's long-term health. White said the decision came Friday morning that Clark would miss her second straight game due to a left groin injury. She said her priority is preventing any sort of a setback once Clark does return. "Anybody who's had some of these types of injuries understands that sometimes it's a process," White said prior to Friday's game. "She's a quick healer, and she's been doing everything she can to get back on the floor. We just want to make sure we're hyper-sensitive to the big picture." After Friday's game, the Fever next play Tuesday against the Minnesota Lynx in the Commissioner's Cup Championship in Minneapolis. Then they return home to play the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, kicking off a stretch of five home games in 11 days. Clark, per standard procedure for players with an "out" status, was not available for interviews Friday. Aari McDonald will start in Clark's place Friday, with Sydney Colson coming off the bench. White said she hopes McDonald's downhill dynamic and defensive energy can help the Fever get off to a better start. The Fever announced Clark's unavailable status around 2 p.m. Clark also missed Thursday's home loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, having been ruled out early in the day. Earlier this season, she missed five consecutive games with a left quad strain. These are the first games missed due to injury for Clark in either her collegiate or pro career. For a Fever team expected to contend for a deep playoff run, the priority becomes limiting her absences and helping her back to full strength. The guard did not appear to be the latter during a recent western road trip. She made 1 of 23 from 3-point range in losses to Golden State and Las Vegas and a victory over Seattle. Similarly, she went 2-for-16 from 3 in the two games prior to her first injury absence. Friday's game was moved from the Wings' usual home at College Park Center, capacity 7,000, to the 20,000-seat American Airlines Center. White said she felt no pressure related to Clark's status as a major gate attraction on the road. "I'm sorry for the people who are coming," White said. "I think I feel a disappointment for them, more than anything, because I want them to see her at her best and us at her best. "I hate that for fans, but at the same time, for us as a team and for Caitlin as a person and player, her health and wellness is the priority."

Caitlin Clark injury update: Fever star out vs. Wings, misses second straight game

Editor's note: USA TODAY Sports will have live coverage of the game between the Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings. Click here to follow all the action. Caitlin Clark continues to battle the injury bug. Clark, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, was ruled out of the Indiana Fever's game against the Dallas Wings on Friday, June 27, due to a left groin injury. It marks Clark's second consecutive game missed with a groin injury and her seventh missed game of the season after a quad injury sidelined her for five games earlier this month. The Fever (7-8) currently sit in ninth place in the WNBA standings heading into Friday's road matchup against the Wings, which marks the second game of a back-to-back for the Fever. Indiana has gone 2-4 without Clark. Head coach Stephanie White said she learned of Clark's groin injury late Wednesday night. She said Clark remains "day-to-day," adding Clark's availability depends on "her rehab, therapy and strength training." "She's tough and a quick healer, so we'll see," White added on Thursday. The Fever are looking to bounce back from a loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday, June 27. Indiana had a 10-point lead over Los Angeles with 9:26 remaining in the contest, but the Fever had a fourth-quarter meltdown and were outscored 35-17 in the final period. The Sparks went on to win 85-75 to move to 5-11 on the season. "With the injuries particularly, you can't maintain a consistent rotation," White said following the loss to the Sparks. "When you have a such a ball dominant player like Caitlin, who makes everyones job a lot easier, out of the game, then you've got to find ways to try to position them to get some easy ones. ... We don't run quite as much with Caitlin off the floor, but we still need to." Clark suffered a quad injury during the Fever's 90-88 loss to the New York Liberty on May 24. Clark returned to the Fever's lineup on June 14 in the Fever's 102-88 win over the Liberty after missing five games, which officially ended her longest stretch of missed due to injury in her collegiate or WNBA career. She dropped 32 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in her first game back. The USA TODAY app gets you to the heart of the news — fast. Why didn't Caitlin Clark play? When Indiana Fever star may return

Here was Stephanie White with the latest on Clark, before last night's game vs Sparks: day-to-day Caitlin Clark missed her sixth game of the season on Thursday night in an eventual 85-75 Indiana Fever loss against the Los Angeles Sparks. Clark has been ruled out of Friday night's contest at the Dallas Wings as well. It will be Clark's seventh game missed this season via injury. Why didn't Clark play against the Sparks and why won't she play against the Wings? The 6-foot guard is sidelined with a groin injury. Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White commented on the potential timeline for Clark to return. "Just day-to-day. It depends on a lot of her rehab and therapy and strength training and how that goes. Right now, it's just day-to-day," White said. White said after Thursday's loss that the compacted schedule would factor into whether or not Clark would be available. "Certainly, in my mind, it is," White said of the tight schedule. "At the same time, she has shown she's tough, and a quick healer, so we'll see." Obviously, now fans know that they won't see Clark back out on the court until Tuesday night at the earliest. The Fever take on the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday, July 1 in the Commissioner's Cup Championship at 7 p.m. CT on Amazon Prime Video presented by Coinbase. After that, Indiana (7-8) hosts the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, July 3 at 6 p.m. CT on Amazon Prime Video. Clark previously missed five games earlier this season with a left quadriceps strain. The Fever went 2-3 minus Clark in their games between May 28 and June 10. Following that initial injury absence, Clark returned and erupted for 32 points on 11-of-20 shooting, including a career-high seven made 3-pointers in a 102-88 win over the New York Liberty. Clark played in five games after her initial injury absence, averaging 17.8 points per game. But, Clark was in the midst of a three-game shooting slump when she suffered this latest groin injury. The former Iowa superstar made just 1-of-23 3-point attempts in her most recent three games played. On the season, Clark is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game on 39.0% shooting and 29.5% 3-point shooting in nine games played.
