The Minister, in a written reply, shared the findings of the high-level committee constituted to examine the circumstances leading to the stampede this year on February 15.
He said there was a gradual increase on passengers, many of whom were also carrying big headloads.
Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman asked the Railway Minister about the status of the report of the committee constituted to investigate the stampede and the corrective steps taken by the government.

Mr. Vaishnaw said the high-level inquiry committee has submitted its report for consideration.
"As per findings of the report, an unfortunate incident on 15.02.25 happened on foot overbridge-3 stairs connecting platform 14/15 at New Delhi railway station. On the day of the incident, sufficient crowd management protocols were in place to handle the overall volume of passengers at the station," he said.
"There was a gradual increase of passengers density on the FOB after 8.15 pm. Many of the passengers were carrying big headloads affecting smooth movement on the FOB.
'There was a big headload falling from one of the passengers and the pressure was passed on to the stairs of PF 14/15 stairs, resulting in the tripping of passengers on the stairs. This led to an incident at 8.48 pm on FOB-3, which was limited to the stairs of FOB. Consequently, passengers fell on each other."
The Minister informed the House that in the incident, 18 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured.
According to Mr. Vaishnaw, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh each to the grievously injured and Rs 1 lakh each to other injured has been paid.
"Accordingly, a total amount of Rs 2.01 crore has been paid to 33 victims and their family members," Mr. Vaishnaw said.
The Railway Minister said the government has taken several actions to handle the heavy rush of passengers at stations, including the creation of permanent holding areas and access control measures — allowing passengers with confirmed tickets — at 73 identified stations, widening foot overbridges, installing CCTV cameras, developing war rooms at big stations, among others.

Wanaparthy police arrest constable-turned-builder on loan fraud charge
A police constable-turned-builder accused of duping his own department's Bharatha scheme and multiple banks to the tune of Rs. 2.61 crore was arrested by the Wanaparthy police on Tuesday. The 37-year-old accused Bandaru Rakesh, who joined back to duty after a long leave of nearly nine years, fabricated documents to secure multiple loans from three houses, Wanaparthy Superintendent of Police Ravula Giridhar said at a press conference. He got selected as Armed Reserve constable in 2007 and got converted his service into Civil a couple of years later. Using the connection while serving as a civil constable, he entered real estate business and created his own venture of houses. He first sold one of the houses in his venture to his aide Sunkari Shekhar. He created fake documents stating that he had purchased the house from Shekhar and availed home loan from police department's Bhadratha scheme. 'Using the same details, he fabricated documents and secured home loans from Indian Overseas Bank, HDFC and LIC,' the SP said. With this modus operandi, he collected Rs. 89 lakh in the form of multiple bank loans. In the same fashion, he availed multiple home loans from different banks. The accused spent most of the money he had earned for his lavish lifestyle and ended up behind the bars, Mr. Giridhar said.

Govt pushes ahead with its agenda in Parliament as Opposition's protest continues
New Delhi: The government on Tuesday pressed on with its agenda amid continued disruptions in Parliament due to the Opposition's demand for a discussion on the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, as Lok Sabha passed a bill and Rajya Sabha approved a couple of resolutions despite the din. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had said on Monday that the government will be compelled to push for Parliament's approval for its legislative agenda if the Opposition continued to obstruct its smooth functioning with its protests. Lok Sabha passed 'The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2025' with a voice vote, the first draft legislation approved by the House in Parliament's Monsoon session which began on July 21. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal moved for its consideration and passage amid the din in the House due to the Opposition's protest. The bill, which seeks to grant STs reservation in the state assembly, was introduced in the House on this day in 2024 and had been pending since. After the passage of the bill, Sandhya Ray, who was in the chair, adjourned the proceedings for the day as protests by opposition MPs continued unabated. Rajya Sabha saw its first adjournment around 11.45 am, when it was adjourned till 2 pm.
