She also criticised the Chandrababu government for following anti-worker policies, pointing out that neither the previous nor the current state government has revised minimum wages for 76 scheduled sectors.
Padma also condemned the Central government for its complete negligence in protecting lives in Kashmir, alleging that it has deployed thousands of troops in the Karigutta forests of Kakar to kill Adivasis and Maoists. She demanded the cessation of Operation Kagar and called for peace talks with Maoists.
At Shirdi Stand, IFTU district president Muni Shankar hoisted the flag.
In Gandhi Nagar, Progressive Auto Workers' Union General Secretary Ch Peddiraju raised the union flag, while in Madhura Nagar and Nalanda, union president Dadi Srinivasarao hoisted flags. At VRL Transport, city leader Vignesh raised the flag. The events saw large-scale participation from IFTU leaders Rafi, Sridhar Babu, Yadagiri, Vali, Y Apparao, Suribabu, women activists Durga, Dhanalakshmi, Nagamani, Lakshmi and PDSU's Rajesh, and numerous workers.

CPI passes resolution calling for EC to withdraw electoral roll revision in Bihar
The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Friday passed a resolution critical of the Election Commission's (EC) Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar. 'The EC should conduct the Bihar Assembly election with the rolls prepared in 2024 for the Lok Sabha elections and only new names of those who have completed 18 years of age be added, as the proposal of EC to prepare entirely new voter lists within a short period of one or two months is impractical and (will) deprive a number of eligible voters (of their right to vote),' the resolution states. The unanimous resolution – which echoes the concerns of the Opposition INDIA bloc – was passed at a meeting of the CPI's National Council held in New Delhi from July 1 to 3. 'The Opposition parties had gone to the EC and urged it to withdraw the intensive voter list revision exercise, as it can deny a large number of voters their right to vote. We called upon the EC to hold the Bihar polls on the basis of the voter list of 2024 Lok Sabha polls, but add the new voters who had turned 18-plus between then and now,' party general secretary D Raja told The Indian Express. At the National Council meeting, Raja presented the draft political resolution that will be presented before the Party Congress to be held in Chandigarh from September 21 to 25. The meeting was presided by Rama Krushna Panda, secretary of the CPI National Council. The draft political resolution also supported the July 9 national strike called by Central Trade Unions, and supported by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and agricultural workers' organisations. The CPI National Council also demanded adequate compensation for those who have lost crops and property due to the heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, and expressed concern that the India-US trade deal would 'devastate India's farmers, destabilise the financial sector, and exploit the nation's youth and erode the sovereignty of India'. 'Opening of the agriculture and dairy sector to US corporations will be a death warrant to Indian farmers,' a party statement said. 'Already unprecedented imports of oilseed and soya products has resulted in collapsing prices of soybean and cotton, giving rise to farmers suicides.'

Mass protest in Vijayawada against smart power meters and tariff hikes
A massive protest led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) erupted in Vijayawada on Friday against the installation of smart electricity meters and a steep increase in power tariffs. The CPI(M) activists gathered at the CPDCL headquarters, demanding the rollback of what they termed as 'corporate-driven reforms' that burden consumers. Addressing the gathering, CPI(M) leaders Ch. Babu Rao and D. Kasinath accused the ruling TDP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government of betraying public trust by imposing ₹15,485 crore worth of adjustment charges within a year of coming to power, despite promises to reduce electricity costs. Protesters also denounced the forcible installation of smart meters, linking them to corporate interests, particularly Adani. Mr. Babu Rao said: 'Over 50,000 petitions were submitted to CPDCL officials, who initially hesitated to receive them.' The petitions were collected from the public during the party's door to door campaign and padayatras. The protesters, including many women, displayed the petitions symbolically and raised slogans condemning the government's silence and double standards, he said, adding, the TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP, who had once opposed smart meters and filed court cases against them, are now enforcing them silently. The CPIM leaders warned that smart meters, controlled remotely by private firms, would lead to inflated bills and 24/7 surveillance, calling them 'Adani bombs in every household.' They claimed that two crore existing meters were being replaced with prepaid smart meters, shifting financial burdens to the public while giving discounted rates to large corporations. The CPI(M) vowed to escalate the agitation state-wide if the government failed to reverse its decisions. 'If they tamper with the people's electricity, they will lose their political power,' said Babu Rao, invoking the memory of the 2000 electricity movement. The protest ended with a call for public resistance and street-level action across Andhra Pradesh.
