A pensioner is facing 160 counts of attempted murder after allegedly pouring petrol in a packed tube and lighting it on fire.
The 67-year-old suspect – named only as Won – is accused of carrying out the deadly act during rush hour on the Seoul Metropolitan Subway in South Korea.
He was reportedly dissatisfied with the judgment of his divorce lawsuit, prompting him to plan the attack.
No one was seriously hurt, but the damages are estimated to top £161,400.
CCTV footage of the heinous act has been released by the Seoul public prosecutor's office.
The alleged terror attack resulted in 129 people needing first aid at the scene, with six victims taken to nearby hospitals with injuries. Others were treated for smoke inhalation.
Prosecutors say Won deliberately targeted the busy train to gain public attention, before fleeing the scene and being detained later at Yeouinaru Station.
But thanks to the passengers' quick actions and the installation of fire-resistant materials, a more devastating tragedy was prevented.
Won remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
Simon Burras, Managing Director at Applied Industrial Systems (AIS), a tunnel ventilation control system specialist, previously told Metro: 'If there is a fire on the train, then the normal mode of operation is for the train to stop at the next station so that the passengers can evacuate quickly.
'Once the train arrives at the station, the over-platform extraction systems are designed to remove the smoke. The staircase pressurisation systems provide a positive airflow down the escape route so that passengers can escape through smoke-free air.
'If, for some reason, there is a fire and the train is stopped in the tunnel, and passengers have to escape via the tunnel walkways, then the tunnel ventilation system is designed to clear smoke so that they can do so safely.
'Usually, the system works by sending the smoke in one direction and passengers in the other. Along the tunnel, active way-finding lights point in the direction passengers need to take to evacuate.'

In 2023, a fire on a London Underground train was found to be a deliberate act of arson.
Flames were reported to be burning through the end of a carriage on a stationary Tube train in Leyton, melting into the floor.
And though it wasn't arson, in February, a fire broke out in a northbound tunnel near Waterloo Underground station.
London Fire Brigade and other emergency crews rushed to the scene after reports of a 'ceramic track support' overheating in the Kennington Tunnels on York Road, south east London.

'I feel empty and alone' - Tennis star 'needs therapy' after Wimbledon exit

Alexander Zverev suffered a first-round exit at Wimbledon (Picture: Getty) World number three Alexander Zverev says he 'probably needs therapy' after feeling 'empty and alone' on and off the court. The German was hoping for a productive run at Wimbledon but saw his hopes ended in the first round by Arthur Rinderknech. It was one of the biggest upsets in the first round of Wimbledon, with Rinderknech defying his world ranking of 72 to stun three-time Grand Slam finalist Zverez. Zverez showed admirable spirit to force a fifth-set decider but was unable to produce the goods in a gruelling contest that almost lasted five hours, ultimately losing 7-6 (7-3) 6-7 (8-10) 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 6-4. The 28-year-old started the year by reaching the Australian Open final but just six months on has been left feeling 'empty and alone'. Zverev was accused of domestic abuse by his former girlfriend Olya Sharypova in 2020 and by the mother of his child, Brenda Patea, in 2023. He has repeatedly denied both sets of allegations and a Berlin court case brought by Patea was discontinued last year. Zverev leaves Centre Court after his defeat (Picture: Getty) Asked about his drop-off since the Australian Open and whether he was struggling mentally or physically, Zverev said: 'I would say more mental, probably. 'I feel very alone out there at times. I struggle mentally. I've been saying that since after the Australian Open. 'I'm trying to find ways, trying to find ways to kind of get out of this hole. I keep kind of finding myself back in it in a way. I don't know. 'I feel, generally speaking, quite alone in life at the moment, which is a feeling that is not very nice. 'It's not a feeling on a tennis court, it's just a life feeling in general. As I said, I never felt this way before. I don't know. It's difficult to find joy outside the tennis court for me at the moment. 'It's not an excuse or anything. I think Arthur deserved to win today. It's nothing about that. Arthur Rinderknech stunned the world number three (Picture: Getty) 'It's something I've felt for the past few months. Again, I just feel generally very, very alone and very lonely. I don't know. I've never felt that way before. 'I don't have the answers right now.' Zverev was asked whether he had considered therapy given his struggles of late and replied: 'Maybe for the first time in my life I probably need it. 'I've been through a lot of difficulties. I've been through a lot of difficulties in the media. I've been through a lot of difficulties in life generally. 'I've never felt this empty before. Just lacking joy, just lacking joy in everything that I do. It's not necessarily about tennis. Just lacking joy outside of tennis, as well. Despite struggling mentally, Zverev is still determined to win a Grand Slam, having come so close on three separate occasions. 'I want to win a major, yes. I still feel like I'm one of the best players in the world,' he said. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Attacker pulls out huge knife and lunges at young woman in London park

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A party at a London park ended with dozens of screams after an attacker began swinging a large knife at a woman. Snapchat video captured the moment the hooded perpetrator whipped out the blade in Gladstone Park, north London, on Monday. The weapon was inches from slashing the terrified victim, as she backed away while others fled. A man filming the attack can be heard screaming, 'She backed out a shank, are you mad?' meaning she brought out a knife. Police officers descended on the scene just after 10pm after the video went viral on social media, but they could not locate the alleged knife-wielder or weapon, the force told Metro. There were no reported injuries and arrests have been made. Metro revealed that almost half of all murders in the UK over the last two years have been due to stabbings or violent incidents with a blade. Figures show that out of the 898 recorded murders in the UK over the last three years, 443 of these murders were committed using a knife, stabbing, or a sharp instrument. Data gathered from Freedom of Information Requests (FOI) from 38 police forces across the UK between 2022-2024 highlighted the worrying rise. Labour says it will bring 3,000 police officers back on the streets alongside a five-step plan to 'tackle the issue 'take back our streets'. This includes the banning of ninja swords this summer. The sword – which has become a weapon of choice for street killers in the UK – will be banned from August 1. More Trending The move follows tireless campaigning from the family of Ronan Kanda, who was killed on a Wolverhampton street in a case of mistaken identity in 2022. A spokesperson for the Met Police told Metro of the Gladstone Park incident: 'On Monday at 10.30pm, police attended Gladstone Park, Brent, having been made aware of a video on social media of a woman with a knife. 'Officers saw no one who matched the description of the woman in the video. 'No one was injured, no weapons were found and no arrests were made. Enquiries continue.' Leonna was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, where she died.
