Woman picks up £2.67 Too Good To Go bag and can't believe value of items
A woman reckons she has found the "best Too Good To Go haul ever" after paying £3 for items that are worth much more. This popular app helps savvy shoppers save money and fight food waste by allowing them to reserve bags of surplus food from shops and restaurants that would otherwise go in the bin, often at discounted rates.
Because the app only features items that would be going to waste, those using it don't get a say in the food or drink they receive - and only find out what they're getting when they are handed their bag at their chosen outlet.
One woman reckons she had the "best Too Good To Go haul ever", having scooped up £40 worth of food for just £2.67 using the app.
Emily McAllister visited her local bakery to buy a sweet treat, using the app to cut costs.
However, she wasn't expecting to be handed five bags stuffed full of delicious treats.
The "shocked" 25-year-old, from Essex, unpacked her bags from Preston's Village Bakery in a TikTok clip which has racked up 79,000 views at the time of writing.
'This was my first time trying Too Good To Go and it honestly didn't disappoint,' marketing professional Emily told What's The Jam.
'It's such a great way to reduce food waste and I was shocked at how much I got for just £2.67.
'I shared it with neighbours, friends, and family so nothing went to waste.'
Emily certainly got more than she bargained for, unpacking multiple loaves of fresh bread, 20 rolls, a number of croissants, cakes, scones, iced buns, tarts and pastries – and even pizza.
After sharing out the goods, she placed the bread in the freezer to be used at a later date.
Emily reckons she would have paid £30-£40 for her haul had she bought the items fresh. "For £2.67 this is crazy," she added.
'I feel like I'm going to be addicted to Too Good To Go. What a bargain.'
After Emily shared the video on TikTok, it garnered thousands of likes and comments.
One person wrote: 'Omg this is the best too good to go I've ever seen what a steal!!!!'
Another person dubbed it an 'amazing deal'.
Someone else joked: 'My freezer would be crying.'
'That's insane for 5 bags!! Amazing!' another user commented.
Another viewer added: 'No other bag will live up to this one.'

While Emily had a great experience with the app, some people have been left less than impressed with their own hauls. When Becky, who posts on TikTok as @beckysbazaar, went to collect her Too Good To Go bag from Millie's Cookies in Manchester's Trafford Centre, she was left confused.
Becky explained the box had been listed as worth £12.60 but reduced to £6.29. However, when she opened the box, she said she saw "loads of different off-cuts."
On Too Good To Go's website, they share their app is "the world's largest marketplace for surplus food". They explain they "help users rescue good food from going to waste, offering great value for money at local stores, cafes and restaurants."

Wolverhampton city centre M&S store will close in late September
Marks & Spencer has announced its Wolverhampton city centre store will close next date of 27 September was confirmed following consultation with colleagues at the Dudley Street site, the company said, adding staff would be offered alternative roles within the business where firm stated it was working with the city council to find a suitable alternative location for a food-only authority said it was looking to identify sites that were in keeping with the brand's "new business model". They added the authority's Wolves at Work employment support team was connected with the firm to support workers and their families. The council also said it was "keen to see the privately-owned Dudley Street site brought back into use quickly"."As everyone knows, town and city centres across the country are changing and we fully understand M&S's difficult decision was driven by wider, changing market conditions and customer behaviour," the authority said. Travel enthusiast Chelsea, also known as 'The Cheap Holiday Expert', has shared the little-known Airbnb hack A lesser-known Airbnb tip that could help you snag cheaper deals when booking holidays has been revealed - and it's surprisingly straightforward to implement. Chelsea, dubbed 'The Cheap Holiday Expert', revealed the strategy saved her 21 per cent on a tranquil barge stay in Manchester. In a TikTok post, she gave followers a tour of the barge's spacious interior, which boasted a double bed, shower, and even a bar stocked with alcoholic beverages. Chelsea initially discovered the barge on Airbnb, which was priced at £152 per night, but she managed to slash the cost down to just £120. "I saved 21 per cent on this amazing barge in Manchester with a very simple hack," she explained in the post from last year. "...This is a great hack, I use it all the time." Chelsea's hack primarily involves looking for accommodation on platforms other than Airbnb. She simply took a few words from the Airbnb listing title and searched them on Google, which led her to the barge's own independent website. The main reason for the lower price was the absence of Airbnb's service fee, which typically accounts for less than 14.2 per cent of the booking subtotal. This fee is instrumental in helping Airbnb run smoothly and includes services such as round-the-clock customer support. Captioning the video, Chelsea continued: "There's SO MUCH CHOICE on Airbnb but as there becomes more and more places for owners to list their properties, it is ALWAYS worth checking to see if you can find the same accommodation on another platform for less. "...The reason this can sometimes work out cheaper is because Airbnb charges guests a service fee in addition to the cost per night. Another option could also be to check to see if the owner has their own website or social media. "This one can often work out the cheapest since they're not having to give away part of their fee to the platform." While these approaches might prove more economical, Chelsea cautioned about potential disadvantages. Should problems occur or alterations be required, your safeguards may be less robust than when reserving via Airbnb. Consequently, it's always recommended to thoroughly investigate the accommodation in advance. She continued: "The big flag with all of these is knowing that it's whoever you part your cash with is the one that you have a 'contract' with. Therefore, it's always worth checking out what protection and customer service is available if anything needs to be changed, cancelled or if anything goes wrong. "Now, there's pros and cons for both - some individuals may provide a much better service than a big company, and then for others it would be vice versa. "So always check the reviews and whether you're booking direct or on any platform, always be on the lookout for false listings where someone has simply lifted the photos from an existing holiday let (let me know if you'd like me to cover spotting this in more depth)."
