'Country music has been an important part of AMA history. The very first year of this show, the award for favorite male country artist went to the great Charlie Pride,' Shaboozey read from the teleprompter first.
Moroney was up next, reading, 'That same year, favorite female artist went to Lynn Anderson, and this award [favorite country duo or group] went to the Carter family, who basically invented country music.'
It was that last line that seemingly caught the 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' singer by surprise, as he appeared to give her a side eye before pausing to process what she said and letting out a laugh before proceeding to present the nominees in the category.
The Carter Family, considered 'the first family of country music,' according to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, was an American folk music group that produced a number of hits throughout the 1920s, '30s and '40s. Some of the songs included 'Wildwood Flower,' 'Wabash Cannonball,' 'Keep on the Sunny Side' and 'Can the Circle Be Unbroken.'
The 2025 American Music Awards, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, were held at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on Monday night. Billie Eilish, SZA, Beyoncé, Eminem, Post Malone, Becky G and Gracie Abrams were among the night's big winners. Check out the red carpet arrivals and the full winners list.
The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Shaboozey's rep for comment.

Adam Sandler Consoled Julie Bowen Amid Happy Gilmore Doubts
Last month, Julie Bowen admitted that she was totally surprised to be cast as Adam Sandler's love interest in the upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel. Adam and Julie — who are 58 and 55, respectively — played lovers Happy and Virginia in the 1996 sports comedy. But despite the fact that Adam is only 3 years older than her, Julie was convinced that she wouldn't be cast in the forthcoming sequel, which drops on Netflix later this month. She told The Hollywood Reporter, 'I thought, 'Well, I won't be in it.' And that was OK… It's been 30 years, he's got a hottie. He's got some little bitty on the side, like a cart girl.' Now, Julie has opened up further about her thoughts being cast in Happy Gilmore 2 during a new appearance on Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast. 'I didn't think they'd bring me back at all,' she shared. 'I mean, who am I supposed to be? He's got to have a younger woman in this one, Happy Gilmore 2.' After reiterating that she 'was surprised to be in it,' Julie later revealed the sweet way that Adam urged her to stop downplaying her role. 'I keep saying, 'I'm in it for, like, a heartbeat. I'm in it for, like, nothing,' and Adam's like, 'Stop saying that! You're the heart of the movie!'' she shared. Elsewhere on the podcast, Julie recounted what it was like auditioning for the first Happy Gilmore film, admitting that she was 'very nervous' after seeing so many 'super sexy girls in the waiting room.' 'They were all sexy and they had it together,' she recalled. 'I was wearing jeans, maybe. I don't know, it was something very normal. The girl that had gone in before me was real, real, bombshelly. I went in after, and I was very nervous 'cause I was like, 'They're gonna hire a hot girl,'' she said. You can find Julie's full appearance on the Inside of You podcast here. Happy Gilmore 2 will be available to stream on Netflix from July 25.

ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus Working on an AI-Assisted Musical
Having already found success with holograms, ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus has revealed that he's writing a musical with help from another cutting-edge (and controversial) technology, AI. 'It is such a great tool,' Ulvaeus said at The Future of Entertainment panel Wednesday at SXSW London. 'It's unimaginable that you can bounce back and forth with a machine, or a software, which can give you ideas to go in various different directions.' More from Rolling Stone Republicans Are Trying to Block My State From Regulating AI People Are Finding Spiritual Fulfillment in AI. Religious Scholars Have Thoughts AOC to Reintroduce Bill Combating Deepfake AI Porn While Ulvaeus didn't go too in detail about the musical, he said that his work on the project was three-quarters finished, and clarified that he was employing AI as 'another songwriter in the room' as opposed to letting the tech just formulate entire songs. 'A misconception is that AI can write a whole song. It's lousy at that — very bad. And thank God! It's very bad at lyrics as well. But it can give you ideas,' Ulvaeus said (via The Hollywood Reporter). 'You have written a lyric about something, and you're stuck maybe, and you want this song to be in a certain style. So you can prompt the lyric and the style you want, asking, 'Where would you go from here?' And it usually comes up with garbage, but sometimes there is something in it that gives you another idea. That's how it works.' Ulvaeus embrace of AI comes at a time when many of his musical peers are voicing their concern about the technology: In May, over 400 artists — including Elton John, Dua Lipa, Kate Bush, and Paul McCartney — signed a letter calling on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to update U.K. copyright laws in the face of AI. This past December, artists, publishers, media companies and more banded together to form the Creative Rights in AI Coalition, which aims to keep the current copyright protections in place despite the U.K.'s continued courtship of AI technology. While ABBA released their album Voyage in 2021, the Swedish quartet's first LP in 40 years, Ulvaeus quipped that AI is incapable of writing an ABBA song — 'It says, 'No, we can't do that'' — but joked that, opposed to his longtime ABBA co-writer Benny Andersson, AI 'is quicker and does exactly what you tell it.' Blumhouse is going back to the drawing board.
Blumhouse is going back to the drawing board. You could see that Blumhouse really believed it could recreate the success of the original M3gan with its recently-released sequel.
