Fox Sports Cuts Show Host Months After Explosive Sex Claims

Yahoo15-07-2025
Fox Sports laid off anchor Joy Taylor on Monday months after she was named in a sexual-battery lawsuit.
Taylor had co-hosted the show Speak on its cable network, FS1, alongside former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson and former NBA player Paul Pierce since 2022. In addition to cancelling Speak, the company is also canceling its morning shows Breakfast Ball and The Facility, according to The Athletic.

All three shows had flailing ratings, according to Front Office Sports. Fox Sports did not return an immediate request for comment.
The news came six months after a former Fox Sports hairstylist, Noushin Faraji, accused Taylor of dismissing Faraji's claim that then-Fox Sports programming executive Charlie Dixon groped her during Taylor's birthday party in 2017.

Faraji also claimed that Taylor, who is married, had an affair with Dixon, which is how Taylor got her role as moderator on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed. Faraji further accused Taylor of mocking her accent and her PTSD-induced humming.
Taylor denied the accusations to The Athletic earlier this year. 'The claims set forth against Ms. Taylor are devoid of merit and appear to have been strategically framed to create unwarranted publicity rather than to seek legitimate redress,' a spokeswoman told The Athletic in February.

Taylor was tight-lipped on the suits in an interview with New York magazine's The Cut earlier this year. 'I know that the public has a lot of interest in this situation,' she said, 'but I have to let the legal process play out.'
She expanded on the situation to Charlamagne tha God's radio show The Breakfast Club last month, albeit briefly. She also said she was renegotiating her contract.

'I have felt a lot of different emotions,' she said. 'I think it's a grief process when anything like that happens. I'll say, I've been through a lot of traumatic things in my life. A lot. And I think any time you go through a trauma or a grieving period of something, you can't decide who you are when it's happening. And that's been the biggest thing for me.'

Dixon was placed on leave in February after the suits, and the network fired him in April.
The lawsuit also accused Fox Sports star Skip Bayless of offering Faraji $1.5 million for sex. Bayless, who left the network last year, has denied the claim.
Taylor's contract was set to expire this summer, according to a Front Office Sports report in May. After the lawsuits went public, Taylor was pulled off the air for two weeks before she returned.

Tom Holland Just Gave Us a Proper Look at the ‘Brand New Day' Spider Suit

Friday was Spider-Man Day (maybe), and to mark the occasion, Sony teased the hero's new suit for his next movie, Brand New Day. Now, Tom Holland's gone and shown the full thing. Most of it, at least. On his Instagram, the actor released a video this morning of him walking into a room, stepping into the light to display the new costume in its full glory as a new version of Michael Giacchinno's Spider-Man theme plays. 'We ready?' he asks to someone offscreen, before going off to shoot the movie. Beyond the raised webbing first shown in the teaser, the biggest change is the spider on the chest, which looks to be a little bigger here than it was in his Final Swing suit at the end of No Way Home. Compared to Tobey Maguire's suit and Andrew Garfield's second Amazing threads, it looks in between those in terms of size and length. View this post on InstagramSpeaking of Brand New Day, we also learned on Friday the film would see the return of Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Michael Mando as Mac Gargan, aka the Scorpion. The former will mark his first appearance in the Spider-Man corner of the MCU, and Gargan's been MIA since 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. (However, the MCU's last few Phases have been big on bringing back its surviving villains.) Ruffalo and Mando are the latest additions to the cast, which includes Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas in mysterious roles. It's still unclear if Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are back as MJ and Ned, and if so, in what capacity. Directed by Daniel Destin Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026. Want more io9 news? Katie Ledecky wins 800m freestyle gold at World Aquatics Championship, defeating rival Summer McIntosh

American star Katie Ledecky won her seventh world title in the women's 800-meter freestyle on Saturday, fending off the challenges of Canadian sensation Summer McIntosh and Australia's Lani Pallister. This World Aquatics Championships was billed as a showdown between Ledecky, the established star of the sport, and McIntosh, her 18-year-old challenger who was attempting to equal Michael Phelps' record of winning five gold medals at a single world championship. When they competed against each other earlier this week in the 400m freestyle, it was McIntosh who emerged victorious but, this time, Ledecky once again demonstrated her dominance over longer distances. They pulled away from the field alongside Pallister and the three of them produced an extraordinary final, separated by no more than a couple of strokes for the entire race. Ledecky eventually touched the wall first with a championship-record time of 8:05.62 while Pallister finished second, just 0.36 seconds slower, and McIntosh rounded out the podium in third, another 1.31 seconds back. 'We got three under 8:10 there. That's pretty incredible,' Ledecky said afterward. 'Lani with the 8:05, Summer with the 8:07. That's incredibly fast and they pushed me all the way. I'm just really happy I could put that together. I just kept telling myself to trust my legs, because I've gotten a little better at kicking. So, I brought it home in the end.' They set off fast – all three swimmers were inside world-record pace at the halfway point – but Ledecky eventually finished just over a second outside the record she set in May. Aside from a short period with about 100m to go when McIntosh edged in front, Ledecky led for almost the entire race, and had enough energy left to hold off any late sprints from her rivals. 'I just came in tonight trying to enjoy this as much as I can,' she added. 'I don't feel like I have anything to lose at this point in my career. I just enjoy it every time I get to walk out in front of a crowd like this and swim against the best in the world.' This victory marks Ledecky's second gold medal at this championship and the 23rd world title of her glittering career after she won the 1,500m earlier this week. McIntosh, meanwhile, has already won three gold medals at this championship – in the 200m butterfly, 400m freestyle and 200m medley – and has a chance to win a fourth in the 400m individual medley on Sunday.
