Conforto and Ohtani homer as NL West-leading Dodgers hold off last-place Rockies 9-7
Trailing 2-0, the Dodgers got their bats cranked up in a six-run fourth inning. Conforto sent a knuckle-curve from Germán Márquez (3-9) over the fence in right.
Ohtani lined his 27th homer of the season into the left-field seats in the sixth to make it 8-3. Ohtani finished 1 for 5 with a strikeout. His homer was the 300th of his career across Nippon Professional Baseball and Major League Baseball, according to research on Baseball Reference.
Jordan Beck had a two-run double for Colorado in eighth to make it an 8-7 game. Teoscar Hernández added an insurance run with an RBI double in the ninth. Tanner Scott closed it out with a game-ending double play to record his 16th save.
Justin Wrobleski (3-2) pitched five innings and allowed two runs while striking out seven. He took over after Jack Dreyer handled the first.
It was a rough fourth frame for Rockies first baseman Michael Toglia, who committed two fielding errors and threw wide on another occasion trying to get a runner at home. Toglia had a productive night at the plate with three double and two RBIs.
Márquez allowed six runs (four earned) over four innings.
The Rockies dropped to 18-61 overall and 8-30 at Coors Field. They have yet to win back-to-back home games this season.
Third baseman Max Muncy made a nifty barehanded play on a slow roller to throw out Thairo Estrada in the first inning and save a run. Estrada was originally ruled safe but the Dodgers challenged and the call was overturned.
The Dodgers have 11 comeback wins in June over 22 games.
The Dodgers will send RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-6, 2.76 ERA) to the mound Wednesday while the Rockies counter with RHP Chase Dollander (2-7, 6.19).

There are potentially $60 million reasons why Rutgers fans should get behind Ace Bailey's and Dylan Harper's fortunes. Advertisement One day, not too long from now, one or both of them could be bankrolling the basketball program's roster. Don't scoff. Stuff like this is already happening elsewhere. Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is the assistant general manager for the men's and women's basketball programs at his alma mater, Davidson College. Curry will 'start an eight-figure fund for both the men and women's programs,' ESPN reported earlier this year. In March, Oklahoma hired alum and NBA All-Star Trae Young as an assistant general manager for its men's basketball program and announced his $1 million donation to the program. Advertisement Last offseason, NBA star James Harden made what was reported as a 'high six-figure' donation to help his alma mater Arizona State land forward Jayden Quaintance, who decommitted from Kentucky. 'I wanted to be a part of helping the team and the school get players,' Harden told Front Office Sports, 'and if NIL is the problem, then I can help with that.' The reporter who wrote the Harden story, Westfield native Alex Schiffer, thinks this could be the start of a trend – especially now that, unlike most current pros, Harper and Bailey benefitted from NIL during their time in college. 'With the way the NBA's (salary) cap is going, it wouldn't surprise me if either of those guys is making $60-million plus a year in a couple of years with their second contracts if they live up to the hype,' Schiffer said on the Jersey Jump Shot podcast. Cleveland pitcher Luis Ortiz placed on non-disciplinary leave by MLB amid investigation
Associated Press Cleveland Guardians pitcher Luis Ortiz was placed on non-disciplinary leave on Thursday due to an investigation by Major League Baseball. MLB said Ortiz's paid leave will be through the end of the All-Star break on July 18. MLB and the Guardians had no further comment on the investigation. Ortiz returned to Cleveland on Wednesday night. The 26-year old Ortiz is in his first season with Cleveland after he was acquired in a trade with Pittsburgh last December. The right-hander is 4-9 with a 4.36 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 16 starts this season. The nine losses are tied for the most in the American League. Ortiz was slated to be the starting pitcher for Thursday night's game at the Chicago Cubs. Instead, left-hander Joey Cantillo will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus.
