Wonderfully weird world of Gumball premieres July 28 on Hulu and Disney+

Express Tribune18-06-2025

The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball is officially set to premiere on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on July 28, 2025, according to Ray Flook of Bleeding Cool. This updated version of the hit animated series The Amazing World of Gumball marks a new chapter for the beloved characters of Elmore, as the show adopts a new title and promises even more chaotic fun.
The rebranded series comes from original creator Ben Bocquelet, with Matt Layzell and Erik Fountain on board as executive producers and series directors. According to the official description, the name change reflects the show's shift toward "even wilder stories, bigger twists, and surreal humor." The announcement was accompanied by a new key art poster teasing the madness to come.
Since its debut in 2011, The Amazing World of Gumball has earned a loyal following for its sharp humor, unique animation style, and layered storytelling — elements fans hope to see amplified in the reboot. The series' return has already generated buzz, including its anticipated presence at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where past installments offered first looks and behind-the-scenes insights.
Set once again in the eccentric town of Elmore, the reboot follows Gumball as he battles fast food villains, AI love interests, and neighborhood absurdities. The returning voice cast includes Alkaio Thiele as Gumball, Hero Hunter as Darwin, Kinza Syed Khan as Anais, and others, with Xav Clarke composing and Joe Sparrow directing the art.
'We haven't grown up much since we last saw them… and neither have Gumball and Darwin,' said Bocquelet, Layzell, and Fountain in a joint statement.
Fans can expect the same chaotic energy — just turned up a notch — when The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball hits screens this July.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 finally begins filming – ‘That's all'

The highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada has officially started production, with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reprising their iconic roles. Disney's 20th Century Studios confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a teaser featuring two devilish red pumps. The film, based on Lauren Weisberger's 2004 novel, follows the story of Andy Sachs (Hathaway), an aspiring journalist who lands a job at the fashion magazine Runway, under the reign of the demanding editor Miranda Priestly (Streep). In addition to the returning cast, Kenneth Branagh has joined the sequel as the husband of Miranda Priestly. While plot details remain under wraps, it's been reported that The Devil Wears Prada 2 will focus on Miranda's career as she grapples with the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She will face off against Blunt's character, her former assistant, who is now a top executive at a luxury group with valuable advertising dollars that Priestly needs. Although Hathaway's character, Andy Sachs, left Runway at the end of the first film to work at a newspaper, it's unclear how she will factor into the sequel's storyline. David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna, who directed and wrote the original film, are returning to helm the sequel. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, marking the return of one of Hollywood's most beloved fashion films.

That's So Raven star Anneliese van der Pol is pregnant with first child

Anneliese van der Pol, best known for her role as Chelsea on Disney Channel's That's So Raven, is expecting her first child with husband Johnno Wilson. The couple, who met on the set of Raven's Home, confirmed to PEOPLE that they are preparing to welcome a baby girl in October 2025. Van der Pol, 40, shared the news in an exclusive interview, revealing that the couple found out the baby's gender during a golf-ball reveal that burst into pink powder. 'I didn't realize how much I wanted a girl until he swung and it went pink,' she said. Despite early plans to remain child-free, the couple changed their minds last summer and were about to begin IVF treatments before learning they had conceived naturally. The two Disney alums tied the knot in December 2024. Wilson, who also stars in Twisted Metal on Peacock, added that the decision to start a family came after regular conversations about life goals. 'I highly recommend checking in with each other every few years,' he said. Van der Pol described her pregnancy as peaceful so far, crediting family and friends for helping them set realistic expectations. She noted experiencing typical pregnancy symptoms like cravings and baby movements, saying, 'I think we have another dancer on our hands.' The couple has been preparing for their new arrival using Babylist for their registry. 'It's been a game-changer,' Wilson said.

As Percy Jackson turns 20, Rick Riordan reveals the truth about those movie adaptations

Two decades after The Lightning Thief first introduced readers to Percy Jackson, author Rick Riordan admits he's never actually watched the blockbuster movies inspired by his work. As the beloved book series hits its 20th anniversary on June 28, 2025, Riordan is looking back at the journey that took him from struggling writer to the architect of a mythological universe. 'When I was writing The Lightning Thief, I knew it was all or nothing,' Riordan shares. The beginning was rocky, his first book event in San Francisco drew just one young reader. But by the second book, The Sea of Monsters, momentum picked up, and by book three, he was confident Percy had a future. Now, 20 years and 17 books later, the Percy Jackson & the Olympians saga has become a cultural touchstone. Beyond the books, it's sparked a Broadway musical, a new Disney+ adaptation, and a massive fan base. Riordan credits the lasting power of Greek mythology, which he says continues to resonate because it explores timeless human experiences - love, revenge, friendship, and identity. Still, there's one part of Percy's legacy he hasn't embraced: the original movie adaptations. 'I never watched them,' Riordan admits. 'I based my opinions on the scripts. I'm thankful they introduced more readers to the books but they're a different experience.' A long-time advocate for representation, Riordan has woven themes of inclusivity and identity throughout the series. From neurodivergent demigods to LGBTQ+ characters, he strives to create space for all readers. 'If you came to Camp Half-Blood,' he says, 'you'd find people who share your background and experiences.' With Percy's world still expanding, Riordan's vision remains clear: every reader deserves to see themselves as the hero.
