Proton e.MAS 7 gets Apple CarPlay, new sounds and smarter features in July 21 update
The long-awaited mobile connectivity feature along with additional enhanced features and updates will be rolled out via an Over-The-Air (OTA) software update. It will be rolled out in stages starting July 21, 2025 via a Flyme Auto OS update.

For those using Android, you'll have to wait a bit longer as Android Auto support will be available by the end of this year. Previously, we were told that Android Auto support is aimed for Q4 2025 release.
Besides Apple CarPlay, the refreshed OTA update will also allow drivers to retain their last-used settings, a most wanted feature that has been requested among existing Proton e.MAS 7 owners.
In addition, the new update will also provide more personalised options for the EV's low speed pedestrian warning system (also known as Ice Cream Truck Sound). Besides its current Classical Tone, feature will add two new sound profiles: Galactic Note and Space Walk.

Once selected, the selected melody for low speed pedestrian warning will remain even upon the next vehicle start-up.
The new Flyme Auto OS update also adds support for more third party apps including Zoom for Cars, izi.TRAVEL and Vivaldi Browser.
In case you missed it, Proton has now included the Tonneau Cover as standard with the refreshed Proton e.MAS 7, worth RM300. If you currently own an e.MAS 7, you won't be left out as Proton says existing owners will soon receive the cover for free. — SoyaCincau

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 — One of the most requested feature for the Proton 7 is the ability to turn off or change the 'Ice Cream Truck' sound. In case you don't know, this is a pedestrian safety-related feature which emits sound when an EV is moving at low speeds (usually 30km/h and below). For a lot of people (us included), the default sound can get a bit annoying especially when you're creeping through a traffic light stop. The folks at Pro-Net have been listening to customer feedback and they have promised to offer a 'fix' in an upcoming OTA software update. As announced yesterday, Proton 7 owners can look forward to new enhancements for their EVs in the coming weeks which also includes the ability to change the default low-speed pedestrian warning sound. Three new pedestrian warning sounds for Proton 7 With the upcoming update, the Proton 7 will soon be getting a total of three new audio options — Classical, Space Walk and Galactic Note. Interestingly, the original 'Ice Cream Truck' is gone and the three sounds are new options. Classic sounds like a spaceship with an ascending tone. Meanwhile, Space Walk and Galactic Note are two variations of ambient and atmospheric type of music, which sounds like booting up an old Microsoft Windows operating system. At least that's what we hear from the demo clip when we tap under settings. You can listen for yourself in the video below: These pedestrian warning sound settings can be found under the Vehicle settings > Sound Settings, and then scroll all the way down until AVAS. Although there's an option to turn AVAS off, it doesn't stay off completely and it will turn back on when you restart the vehicle. However, if you've selected an audio profile, it will be saved for your next trip. Tesla sees 13.5% drop in Q2 auto sales

(Reuters pic) NEW YORK : Tesla reported another hefty drop in auto sales today, extending a difficult period amid intensifying electric vehicle competition and backlash over CEO Elon Musk's political activities. The EV maker reported 384,122 deliveries in the second quarter, down 13.5% from the year-ago period. Shares rallied after the disclosure, which was in line with most analyst expectations but better than some leading forecasts in recent days. The sales figures released today, which are global, reflect the more contested nature of the EV market, which Tesla once dominated, but which now also features BYD and other low-cost Chinese companies, as well as legacy western automakers like General Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen. But Musk's political activism on behalf of right-wing figures has also made the company a target of boycotts and demonstrations, weighing on sales. In recent days, Musk has revived a feud with US President Donald Trump, dragging Tesla shares lower.
