Sacked Coote charged by Football Association
Former Premier League referee David Coote has been charged by the Football Association over remarks he made about ex-Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp.
Coote was sacked in December by Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL) after a video circulated on social media the previous month of him making derogatory comments about Klopp.
One of those remarks referenced Klopp's nationality, and the FA said that constituted an alleged 'aggravated breach' under its rules.

In the video, Coote is heard saying it had been 's***' to be fourth official at a Liverpool match in the summer of 2020, describing Klopp as a 'German c***'. He also said Klopp was 'f****** arrogant'.
Coote declined to comment when contacted via a spokesperson, while the FA has not shared a date by which he must respond.
Dismissing Postecoglou was emotionally difficult – Levy

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy insisted he had no regrets about appointing Ange Postecoglou as he described the decision to sack him as 'emotionally difficult'.
Despite guiding Spurs to a first trophy in 17 years by securing Europa League glory, Postecoglou was dismissed earlier this month and then replaced by Thomas Frank.

Losing 22 Premier League matches and finishing 17th ultimately cost the Australian his job.
'We were over the moon to win a trophy but we need to compete in all competitions,' said Levy. 'We felt that we needed a change. Emotionally it was difficult but we believe we have made the right decision for the club.'
Bellingham makes Dortmund debut
Jobe Bellingham made his Borussia Dortmund debut from the bench as his new side scraped a goalless draw in their Club World Cup opener against Fluminense in New Jersey.
The England Under-21 international played the final 31 minutes at the MetLife Stadium following last week's big-money switch from Sunderland but could not inspire a breakthrough in a tight Group F encounter.

Bellingham, 19, followed in the footsteps of elder brother Jude, who spent three years with Dortmund before moving to Real Madrid in 2023.
A crowd of 29,755 were in attendance at the 82,500-capacity MetLife Stadium, where Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel make a fine double save to deny Fluminense a second-half winner.
Alexander-Arnold ready for new challenge with Real
Trent Alexander-Arnold insisted everyone is 'starting from scratch' as they try to take on board the methods of new Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso.
The former Liverpool defender is expected to make his Real debut in Wednesday's Club World Cup clash with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

While Alexander-Arnold is still getting to grips with new surroundings and a different language after joining the LaLiga club last week, head coach Alonso has only been in position since the start of the month.
'It's a new coach and a new coaching staff, so in that sense we're all starting from scratch,' he told RM Play. 'We're all trying to learn and absorb all the information and put it into practice as quickly as possible.'

Where England-Sweden quarter-final will be decided
This is the game. This is the test. I feel that if England beat Sweden on Thursday they will reach the final of Euro 2025. It will be such a close quarter-final, but I believe England will win. There will be some fascinating battles across the pitch, but here are three areas that will be crucial. Advertisement Blackstenius v England centre-backs England captain Leah Williamson will be acutely aware of Sweden striker Stina Blackstenius' speed and the fact she likes to stretch the backline because they play together at Arsenal. Blackstenius is so good at running in behind. The way she took the first goal in Sweden's 4-1 win over Germany showed a real intelligence to keep onside. It was top-level forward play. She has been accused of missing clear-cut chances, but she executed that perfectly. That will have given her a real boost. Sweden had 48% possession against Germany, but they showed they could handle pressure because they had weapons on the counter-attack. Blackstenius is a focal point for the team and the one that probably allows Sweden to play more direct when they need to. Advertisement England centre-backs Williamson and Jess Carter need to have good awareness of where Blackstenius is. They need to get it right positionally. They need to get tight to her in the box when the ball goes out wide because Blackstenius is really good in the air. Sweden recorded the most open-play crosses during the group stage (61) and they are dangerous in those situations. Williamson showed her defensive strengths in the Champions League final. She came up against top-quality forwards and used her pace and reading of the game to intercept passes. She is so composed on the ball that she can play her way out of pressure. That is so important for the way England build from the back. Advertisement Carter complements Williamson well because she can distribute off both feet and is very good at using her body to block runs. Goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has a role to play in helping England's centre-backs by reducing the space Blackstenius has to run in behind. There was a lot of noise around Hampton becoming number one, but her distribution has been excellent so the Sweden defence need to be wary of that. If they push up too high she can play long balls over the top. Teams have analysed England and looked at ways they can exploit them, which has often been through those direct passes or outpacing the defence. But there is no way England will not acknowledge Sweden's strengths. They will be prepared. Advertisement Rytting Kaneryd v Greenwood Sweden might try and press England high up the pitch. If they do that with Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, then England can keep their forwards isolated against the Sweden full-backs and Lauren Hemp can run at them one-v-one. England defender Alex Greenwood can put dangerous balls into the right areas with her distribution. The quality of her left foot is so good that she can play it perfectly down the line for Hemp and send her off. It is one of the benefits of having Greenwood in the left-back position. There is more balance to England's defence since she moved there. Greenwood will be aware of Rytting Kaneryd's dribbling ability. That is one of the Chelsea forward's super-strengths. She likes to carry the ball past players and get in the box. She is also great at crossing the ball from wide areas - 65% of Sweden's chances created from open play came down her right-hand side in the group stages. Advertisement Rytting Kaneryd also has that trademark 'chop' that catches defenders out all the time in the box. Greenwood needs to stay on her feet, and it is better to keep Rytting Kaneryd out wide as she is more dangerous coming inside. While England need to be wary of Sweden's wingers, it is the same the other way. Lauren James is just as dangerous to Sweden. The midfield battle It will be interesting to see how Sweden's midfield lines up. Hanna Bennison started the win over Germany. She has great technical ability and is so creative. She is probably more attacking, though, so I wonder if Sweden will bring in Julia Zigiotti Olme against England's creative midfield to add more physical presence. Advertisement Zigiotti Olme can keep things ticking but will also put a foot in. She might be able to do both sides of the game better. There is a good blend in Sweden's midfield. London City Lionesses midfielder Kosovare Asllani plays in that number 10 role behind Blackstenius and is the link between midfield and attack. Asllani is clever with the timing of her movement and has been involved in four of Sweden's eight goals in the tournament. She has good footwork and is a really experienced player. It does not seem like the magnitude of games affects her. Filippa Angeldal has really good vision and can recognise when to push up and when to hold back. Advertisement We saw glimpses of what she could do at Manchester City, but she did not get consistent minutes and now it looks like she has had a new lease of life at Real Madrid. She is reinvigorated and playing so well. She understands her role at Sweden and how effective she can be. England manager Sarina Wiegman will pick the same midfield three. The balance was lacking against France and they did not recognise the threats. But they have certainly improved on that. Georgia Stanway has been putting tackles in and adding more bite, which England needed. Ella Toone has come in and connected well with Alessia Russo and James. Keira Walsh has been getting close to the box and putting in shots. Her team-mates even joked that she is chasing the Golden Boot. That is when England are at their best. (AP Photo/Czarek Sokolowski, File) LONDON (AP) — Daniel Dubois gets a second shot at Oleksandr Usyk and this time the stakes are higher as the winner will become the undisputed world heavyweight champion. The pair will square off at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night almost two years after their first bout, which is best remembered for a controversial low blow by Dubois. Usyk stopped Dubois in the ninth round to retain his WBA, IBF and WBO belts. Advertisement Victory for Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) would see the Ukrainian become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion. It's a feat he first accomplished in May 2024 by beating Tyson Fury on a split decision and taking Fury's WBC belt. Usyk then relinquished his IBF belt — with Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) the recipient — just over a year ago to focus on a rematch with Fury. The last British heavyweight to hold every major belt was Lennox Lewis 25 years ago. When is the fight? The ringwalks are expected to be at around 9:45 p.m. local time (4:45 p.m. ET). The first fight on the undercard will begin around 5:40 p.m. Advertisement What happened the first time Usyk and Dubois fought? It was held in Wroclaw, Poland, which practically speaking was home territory for Usyk, whose country is still defending itself from a Russian military invasion. The southpaw Usyk controlled the fight by using his right jab effectively, finding holes in Dubois' defense and causing the Briton's left eye to swell by the fourth round. The low blow in the fifth round remains the talking point — even this week. Dubois' punch sent Usyk to the canvas. Referee Luis Pabon had a clear view and ruled it an illegal low blow, though Dubois' camp accused Usyk of pretending to be hurt. Usyk was given nearly four minutes to recover. Usyk scored a knockdown late in the eighth round and ended it a round later with a straight right that dropped Dubois. Who have Usyk and Dubois fought recently? Advertisement Since beating Dubois, Usyk secured back-to-back victories over Tyson Fury. Both fights took place in Riyadh and both went the full 12 rounds. The first was a split decision. The rematch last December was a unanimous decision. Dubois rebounded from his loss to Usyk with three wins, all by stoppages: Jarrell Miller in the 10th round; Filip Hrgovic in the eighth round; and Anthony Joshua in the fifth at Wembley. Dubois was scheduled to make a title defense against Joseph Parker in February but he backed out at the last minute citing an illness. What's at stake? So much. There is Usyk's undefeated record. The Ukrainian turns 39 in January so he's at the point of his career where every fight could be his last. Going out on top must be at least a little appealing. Plus, even though he clearly feasts on British opponents, he might not be as enthusiastic to face the likes of rising star Moses Itauma, a 20-year-old Slovakia-born British southpaw who has drawn comparisons to a young Mike Tyson. None of Itauma's past six opponents have lasted two rounds. For the 27-year-old Dubois, history awaits. He'd be the first British fighter since Lennox Lewis in 1999 to be the undisputed world heavyweight champion. Fury and Joshua have been much more heralded in their careers, but neither has been able to beat Usyk. They both fought him twice and lost. Dubois also wants to prove that his stunning knockout of Joshua last September in an IBF title defense was no fluke.
