Tejashwi Yadav leads 6-hour INDIA bloc meet ahead of Bihar polls, slams Nitish for ‘stealing ideas'
According to PTI, the session centred on seat-sharing discussions, coordination planning, and tackling concerns over electoral transparency.
The assembly elections in Bihar is scheduled later this year and Tejashwi-led Mahagathbandhan is looking on to topple Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar.
Seat-sharing talks begin, but details remain under wraps
After the meeting, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who heads the coalition's coordination committee, told the media that seat-sharing talks for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls have formally begun.
However, he declined to provide specifics, stating that the deliberations were "internal matters."

"Yes, seat-sharing talks have begun. But I cannot divulge more details now. The deliberations are an internal matter, and we will make things public when they are finalised," said the RJD leader, who is likely to be the INDIA bloc's chief ministerial candidate.
Tejashwi accuses Nitish of being a 'copycat'
Yadav also used the opportunity to attack his political rival, the NDA, alleging that chief minister Nitish Kumar is trying to steal his ideas.
The former deputy chief minister alleged that the NDA government headed by JD(U) president Nitish Kumar was a "copycat" that was "stealing" his ideas, such as setting up a youth commission (Yuva Aayog) and hiking the old age pension.

"I am sure 'Mai Bahin Samman Yojana' will also be copied by them soon," said the young leader, who has promised to pay the state's women a monthly stipend of ₹2,500 if his party is voted to power.

Yadav claimed that the people were fed up with the NDA government, which lacked "vision" and was unable to keep law and order under control.
When his attention was drawn to the fact that NDA partners like Union minister Chirag Paswan have also started voicing concern over deteriorating law and order, the RJD leader shot back, "He should go and tell the Centre that 'jungle raj' is prevailing in Bihar."
Notably, 'jungle raj', an expression indicative of lawlessness, is a colloquialism often used by BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to underscore the RJD's poor track record in controlling crime while it ruled Bihar.

The Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly witnessed a heated exchange of words on Tuesday as Shiv Sena (UBT) MLAs locked horns with minister and its rival Shinde Sena leader Shambhuraj Desai over the delay in securing the Centre's approval to rehabilitate slum dwellers on defence land in Mumbai's Bandra East. The verbal exchanges forced the house to be adjourned for 10 minutes. Raising the issue in the assembly, Sena UBT MLA from Bandra East Varun Sardesai criticised the Centre and state governments for the seven-year delay in transferring the 42 acres of defence land to the Maharashtra government — land on which nearly 9,500 shanties currently exist. 'You control both Delhi and Mumbai. What's stopping you from resolving this issue? Will the land be transferred? Will these families be relocated? This has been hanging since 2017,' said Sardesai. Responding on behalf of Housing Minister Eknath Shinde, Desai said the Chief Minister had written four times to the Centre. 'There has been constant follow-up,' he said. When Sardesai asked for a time bound solution to the issue and pointed out the delays in obtaining an NOC from the Centre's defence ministry or transfer of land to the state government for redevelopment, Desai pointed fingers at the previous Uddhav Thackeray led MVA regime saying the matter saw 'no movement' between 2019 and 2022. 'No follow up with the Centre was done between 2019 and 2022 and Eknath Shinde took up the issue in September 2024, when he became chief minister,' Desai said. The remark sparked protests from Sena (UBT) MLAs, who reminded Desai of his own role in the Thackeray-led cabinet. Senior leader Bhaskar Jadhav said, 'You were part of that very government. How can you now absolve yourself?' Tempers flared further when Jadhav questioned whether Desai was formally authorised to speak on behalf of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. 'Did the Chair permit this? Where is the authorisation letter?' he asked, prompting a brief adjournment of the House. When the Assembly reconvened, Speaker Rahul Narwekar clarified that Desai was empowered to reply on issues related to the Housing and Urban Development Department, based on a written request from Shinde. Jadhav later clarified that his objection was as per procedure, not directed at the Speaker's ruling. 'We raised this because the Opposition is dissatisfied with the replies being given,' he said.

PM Modi to launch projects worth Rs 7,200cr at Motihari meeting on July 18

"This will be PM Modi's 53rd visit to Bihar in the last 11 years. He will lay foundation stones for and inaugurate projects related to rail, road, rural development, animal husbandry, dairy, self-help groups and housing," he said. Among them, railway projects are worth Rs 5,398 crore, and road and transport projects worth Rs 1,173 crore. The PM is also likely to announce projects related to electronics and information technology worth Rs 63 crore. The PM will lay the foundation stone for a four-lane Ara bypass from Asni to Bampali on NH-319, which will cost Rs 138 crore and inaugurate a four-lane road from Parriya to Mohania in Kaimur, built at a cost of Rs 828 crore, and a two-lane paved shoulder road worth Rs 110 crore from Sarwan to Chakai as part of NH-333C. Apart from these, he will transfer a total of Rs 162 crore to the accounts of 40,000 beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, besides handing over house keys to 12,000 beneficiaries.
