I've tried the Midnight Luxe mattress and it's a dream for side sleepers — but there's a different luxury hybrid I'd buy in the Helix sale

Tom's Guide19-06-2025
The 4th of July fireworks have started early at Helix, where we're celebrating 27% off all Helix mattresses with code TOMS27. Side sleepers, now's the chance to save on the top-rated Midnight Luxe mattress.
I've been hands-on with the Helix Midnight Luxe and agree with our lead tester's assessment: the plush cushioning is just like a "beautifully cool marshmallow."
We rate it among the best mattresses we've tested and while the premium price tag makes it an investment, it's one we think your sleep will thank you for.
27% off at Helix is perhaps the biggest mattress sales we've seen this month and an early contender for the best 4th of July deal — here's my top pick to browse today.
Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: twin was $1,436 now $1,048.28 at Helix The Helix Midnight Luxe is almost the perfect side sleeper bed — no wonder we crowned it the best mattress for side sleepers. Our lead tester has spent months using it for our Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review (including several weeks on the recently revamped model) and she loves its combination of plush pressure relief and full-body support. As does her husband, a back sleeper who finds the Midnight delivers ample lumbar support. And thanks to the highly-rated motion isolation, they can toss and turn without bothering the other. If you're worried about the summer heat we suggest adding the GlacioTex cover and with 27% off using code TOMS27, it's the perfect time to make the upgrade. A queen has been reduced to $1,751.03 (from $2,398.66) without the cover and $1,933.04 with it.
Our review: ★★★★½ User score: ★★★★½ (7,500+ reviews)
You can save 27% sitewide in the Helix mattress sale with our TOMS27 code in a deal that's almost as good as the Memorial Day saving. (For Memorial Day, Luxe and Elite mattresses also came with a free gift.)
This is likely the best Helix deal we'll see this side of Labor Day — and possibly the best offer until Black Friday. So if you want the 'blissful pressure relief' and 'robust contouring support' of the Helix Midnight Luxe, we recommend taking advantage of the discount.
But while I liked the cushioned Midnight Luxe, it's another of the best hybrid mattresses I'll be adding to my own cart: the Dusk Luxe.
From the same collection as the Midnight Luxe, the Dusk Luxe features the same tall build (13.5 inches, to be precise), thick foams, and zoned springs of its compatriot.
However, the Dusk Luxe uses a responsive support foam to create a mattress that's cushioned without the sink-in feel of softer beds.
As a stomach sleeper, this is perfect for me. I spent a week on the Dusk Luxe and despite a lingering case of jet lag I slept like a baby and woke up fresh each morning.
And it's not just one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers; back sleepers should find it comfortably supportive as well.
Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress: twin was $1,436 now $1,048.28 at HelixIn our Helix Dusk Luxe mattress review we described this luxury bed as a "dream for stomach sleepers." The quilted cover and dense foams create indulgent pressure relief but thanks to the impressive support, you never have to worry about your hips sinking — something that can cause pain for back and front sleepers. Using code TOMS27 can save you extra on the Dusk Luxe with a queen now only $1,751.03 (down from $2,398.66.) I've found the temperature regulation comfortable but very hot sleepers should consider the GlacioTex upgrade.

Prime Day might be over but these 5 rival mattress deals are still live — starting from $128

The longest Prime Day ever has been put to bed but this weekend's mattress deals are keeping us wide awake. You can still save 27% on mattresses for all sleep styles at Helix. Use code TOMS27 to score this Black Friday-esque deal. Elsewhere, the best mattress we've tested is now 15% off in the Saatva flash sale. That's a saving of up to $449 off the handcrafted Classic mattress, a Saatva discount bigger than any we spotted during Prime Day. (Of course, if you head to our Prime Day sleep and mattress deals hub you can still find discounts on many of our favorite sleep-saviors.) Stearns & Foster Estate 14.5" Firm Tight Top Innerspring Luxury Mattress: twin XL now $2,299 at Macy'sAnyone in the market for a prestige mattress would do well to look at this innerspring mattress from Stearns & Foster. The Estate 14.5" Firm mattress promises next-level support and features Tempur-Indulge memory foam for enhanced pressure relief, with four AirVents to keep things cool at night. As a handcrafted luxury mattress it comes in at a premium price, but one that's worth paying considering its quality: a queen will cost you $2,399. 1. Saatva Classic Mattress: twin was $1,399 now $1,190 at SaatvaWe're constantly testing new beds but so far, none of them have been topped by the Saatva Classic as our favorite mattress. The best luxury mattress we've tested, the Classic comes in three firmness levels to suit all sleep styles, while the enhanced spinal support helps reduce back ache. After a seven month Saatva Classic mattress review period, our lead tester found her sleep had been "revolutionized", with no more nagging hip pain. There's 15% off in this weekend's Saatva mattress sale, although it's a flash deal — get it while it's hot. A queen is now $1,785 (was $2,099) and as well as an indulgent five-star mattress, you'll get a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free white glove delivery. Our review: ★★★★★ User score: ★★★★★ (4,100+ reviews) 2. Zinus Spa Sensations 10" Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress: twin was $359.99 now $128 at WalmartPrime Day might be over but Walmart's rival mattress sale is running until the 13th and there are plenty of deals on cheap mattresses to browse. Our top pick is the Zinus Spa Sensations Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress, now only $168 for a queen (was $288.) While this isn't quite the same model we tested for our Zinus Memory Foam Mattress review, we predict it delivers a similar level of plush comfort for side sleepers. There's no sleep trial but a 10-year warranty is included and we think this will make an excellent mattress for college students (good sleep can help you learn, you know.) User score: ★★★★½ (200+ reviews) 3. Helix Dawn mattress: twin was $998.66 now $729.03 at HelixAll the best mattresses for stomach sleepers emphasize support, keeping the lumbar lifted to prevent the back pain that can occur in this slightly-awkward sleep position. The Helix Dawn, featuring a sturdy spring base and firm foams, excels at support, as we discovered in our Helix Dawn mattress review. With code TOMS27 you can save 27% on everything in the Helix line-up (home to some of the best hybrid mattresses we've tested.) That reduces a queen from $1,332 to $972.36, with a limited lifetime warranty and a 100-night trial. Want something softer for side sleeping? Check out our Helix Midnight Mattress review, for a plusher hybrid at the same price. Our review: ★★★★½ User score: ★★★★½ (1,300+ reviews) 4. Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam Mattress: twin was $619 now $399 at Cocoon by SealyYou can go ahead and ignore the countdown on the Cocoon by Sealy website: this 35% off deal isn't going anywhere soon. But although you don't need to rush to secure the saving, if the heat has been ruining your sleep, you might want to act quickly to get your hands on one of the best cooling mattresses we've tested. Featuring PCM (Phase Change Material) to absorb and dissipate heat, in our Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress review we were impressed with the temperature regulation, particularly for a mid-range bed (a queen is only $699.) The firmer feel makes it a good choice for back sleepers and a free bedding bundle is included. Our review: ★★★★ User score: ★★★★½ (8,600+ reviews) 5. Birch Luxe Natural Mattress: twin was $1,624 now $1,185.52 at BirchWe recently tested the this mattress for our Birch Luxe Natural Mattress review and it's fast becoming one of our favorite organic mattresses. Using latex foams and wool comfort layers to create responsive pressure relief, the Birch Luxe is naturally breathable and highly supportive. We think it's best for stomach and back sleepers (side sleepers might prefer something plusher, like the Naturepedic Concerto mattress.) Code TOMS27 saves you 27% sitewide at Birch, reducing a queen to $1,915.52 (was $2,625) — and $843 off a king size. A free pillow set is included, alongside a 100-night trial and limited lifetime warranty. Our review: ★★★★½User score: ★★★★½ (700+ reviews)

7 big Prime Day cooling mattress topper deals ending tonight — beat the heat from just $38

There are still plenty of sleep deals around as Prime Week comes to an end, so what better way to enjoy a comfier night for less than by picking up a cooling memory foam mattress topper in the sales? Amazon is still full of Prime Day discounts on bed toppers, but many brands behind this year's best mattress toppers (and top-rated mattresses) are hosting their own rival sales, too. Budget brand Lucid has now launched a 30% off sitewide sale, which means you can now buy a Gel Memory Foam Mattress Topper for as low as $37.49. Cooling memory foam mattress toppers provide the soft, body-hugging comfort of memory foam without the stuffy heat-trapping tendencies. So I suggest grabbing these mattress topper deals before this month's Prime Day mattress sales come to an end. 1. Lucid Gel Memory Foam Mattress Topper: twin was from $49.99 now from $37.49 at LucidAs soon as Prime Week started, Lucid kicked off its 30% off sale, and it's brought some absolute bargains. We hailed Lucid's signature foam topper as the best cheap bed topper in our Lucid Gel Memory Foam Mattress Topper review, as its ventilated design and heat-drawing gel infusion offer great temperature regulation for the price. We think this sitewide sale will end when Amazon's does, so grab a 2" queen size for $52.49 (down from $69.99) while you still can. 2. Linenspa Memory Foam Mattress Topper: twin was $39.99 now $33.99 at AmazonThis memory foam mattress topper has gained a 4+ star score (out of an impressive 129,000+ ratings) on Amazon, and has already sold out over at Linenspa's official website. The topper is infused with cooling gel to regulate temperature and reduce the risk of night sweats. Right now, a queen is $50.99 (was $59.99) thanks to a 15% Prime Day discount. 3. Serta ThermaGel 3" Memory Foam Mattress Topper: twin was $69.99 now $45.49 at AmazonBoasting a 4.3 star rating, the Serta ThermaGel is brought to you by hotel-favorite brand Serta. Its trademark THERMAGEL features cooling particles and the memory foam is deigned to dissipate heat and improve airflow for a cooler sleep. With 20% off a queen is down to $75.92 from $94.99. 4. Helix Premium Mattress Topper with GlacioTex: twin was $373.33 now $272.54 with code TOMS27 at HelixAt 3.75" thick, this hybrid topper impressed reviewers in our Helix GlacioTex Premium Mattress Topper review with its comfort-boosting thickness and excellent cooling features. Its cover is made from heat-dissipating GlacioTex (often found in the best cooling mattresses) and its layer of microcoils improves airflow. Thanks to our exclusive TOMS27 discount code, a queen is now down to $364.03 (was $498.66).This Helix mattress deal is set to end soon, though. 5. Casper Comfy Mattress Topper: twin was $199 now $159.20 at CasperOkay, I admit this isn't billed as a cooling mattress topper per se, but just read our Casper Comfy Mattress Topper review. This topper's perforated foam and soft-knit cover was more than enough to keep testers cool, and it's a great alternative to buying one of our picks in our best mattresses for side sleepers guide. Oh, and did I mention that it's hardly ever more than 10% off? So this Prime Day-rivalling 20% discount that reduces a queen to $239.20 (was $299) is a big deal. 6. Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Topper: twin was $329 now $279 at Tempur-PedicWhile the original Tempur-Adapt Topper was super comfortable, testers found it slept rather warm. However, this cooling upgrade (which costs an extra $60) gave testers for the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper review much cooler sleep with the same amount of comfort. There's now a 20% off sale at Tempur-Pedic, taking a queen to $359 (was $429). (You could also try the 40% discount code TOPPERS40, which sometimes gets me 40% off if I'm lucky.) 7. Sleep Innovations Cooling Comfort Gel Memory Foam Dual Layer Mattress Topper: twin was $109.99 now $75 at AmazonSleep Innovations' Dual Layer Mattress Topper is insanely popular on Amazon, with 4.4 stars and 32,000+ ratings. This half-foam, half-pillow-top hybrid topper is a bestseller that comes in three different models, but we suggest going for the Cooling Comfort model if you want to cool down your mattress. A queen size is now 23% off and down to $115.99 (was $149.99) in Prime Day deal.

Figure AI founder Brett Adcock says there will soon be as many humanoid robots as humans

"The home is coming," Brett Adcock, the founder of robotics company Figure AI, says. "The home is like single-digit years away" from being a place where humanoid robots can do "useful work," he said this week on Around the Prompt, a tech podcast. That is, first and foremost, thanks to advances in hardware, which have become significantly more reliable in the past decade. "You can't get this done on like mediocre hardware," Adcock said. Neural networks, the computational models that mimic the networks in the brain, meanwhile, have evolved to make humanoids a near-term reality, he said. Adcock referenced an update the company released last week for its humanoid robot, Helix, allowing it to complete an hour of "uninterrupted logistics work." The robot managed packages on a conveyor belt. Adcock said the latest development shows that its neural nets are "approaching human speed and performance." Watch Helix's neural network do 60 minutes of uninterrupted logistics work Helix now incorporates touch and short-term memory and it's performance continuously improves over time — Figure (@Figure_robot) June 7, 2025 Investors, too, see promise in a future populated by humanoid robots. Figure, founded in 2022, has raised $2.34 billion, with $1.5 billion coming from its latest Series C round in February led by SaxeCap, 1802 Ventures, and Vegvisir Capital. The company is now valued at $2.6 billion, according to PitchBook. The company has also raised money from companies like Microsoft, OpenAI, Nvidia, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. But Adcock — who previously founded electric aircraft company Archer and AI talent marketplace Vettery — said he put in a bulk of the initial capital. In the last seven years, the "climate towards deep tech has really flipped," Adcock said. "There are fully dedicated funds for this. People realize now that probably some of these deep tech companies might be the biggest businesses in the world or starting to become the biggest business." Other major players in the humanoid robot space include Tesla, which has Optimus, a 5-foot-8 humanoid robot that can dance, clean, and take out the trash. The company is working to deploy its first fleet in its factories by the year's end. Boston Dynamics has Atlas, which can run, crawl, break dance, and do cartwheels. Agility Robotics has Digit, which Amazon once tested in its warehouses, though the e-commerce giant now uses its own set of in-house, non-humanoid robots designed by Amazon Robotics. Many of these humanoid machines move with fluidity, exhibiting a suite of motor skills that allow them to augment the human labor force. Figure says its mission is to "develop general-purpose humanoids that make a positive impact on humanity and create a better life for future generations," especially ones that can "eliminate the need for unsafe and undesirable jobs — ultimately allowing us to live happier, more purposeful lives." The company already has robots mingling with humans at its offices, asking employees if they want water or coffee, or simply patrolling the premises, he said. So, it's not hard to imagine a time when "you'll see as many humanoid robots as you see humans," he said. "It's literally going to feel like a sci-fi movie." The real draw, though, is that "the humanoid robots will be the ultimate deployment vector for AGI," he said. Humanoids aren't the only type of robots in development. In 2024, investors put $6.1 billion in VC dollars behind the general category of robotics, up 19% from 2023, according to PitchBook. That includes companies collecting data, building AI models for robots, and creating robotic fleet management software, PitchBook said. "There's a whole ecosystem that's been kickstarted in the last three years," Srini Ananth, managing director at Intel Capital, told PitchBook. Some experts in the field question whether the human form is really the best vehicle for machines. "My hypothesis is that the requirements of different tasks are so vast that having very few form or sticking with one form is energy inefficient," Fei-Fei Li, cofounder and CEO of World Labs, said on the No Priors podcast. "Just an extreme and trivial example, if we put robots underwater, they should not be the shape of humans. They better be in the shape of fish. Just think about energy efficiency. The same with flying."
