'I tried Dyson's Formaldehyde air purifier - it's better than hotel air conditioning'
When the summer heatwave hits, I really struggle and find myself wishing for chilly hotel air conditioning. That time of year also comes with the blessing of more pollen for a sweaty hayfever season.
Anyone who has shared a living space with me can attest to the challenges of allergy season. I'm notorious for my frequent and loud sneezing episodes. As a result, I've always kept an air purifier close at hand, often having multiple units so that each room is covered.
My go-to was always the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool, which I've likened to an air conditioning unit. It held the top spot due to its multifunctional nature as a heater, fan, and purifier, until I acquired the Dyson Purifier Formaldehyde purifying fan.
At first glance, they may appear quite similar, but there's more to it, especially when using the app. The app is my favourite feature. While the remote is user-friendly, I find myself gravitating towards the app more frequently, reports Birmingham Live.
It allows me to adjust the settings from anywhere, meaning I can modify the temperature of my room before I even arrive home - I even put this to the test on a recent trip to the south of France, where I could check what temperature my bedroom would be upon my return.
I also appreciate being able to easily identify the main pollutants affecting my space and their sources. While not a necessary feature for daily life, it's a thoughtful addition. It also enables me to monitor recurring issues that I encounter.
Not everyone wants their fan to double as an air purifier, although I do find it handy for allergy season. The Dyson device itself is incredibly quiet unless I'm altering the temperature of the surrounding area, and the adjustable fan intensity is a feature I find particularly useful. I love that I can pick the temperature I want the room to be and then have it be just that. It's better than hotel air conditioning, which I find can sometimes dry out the room and leave me with a parched throat.
I don't believe there's a significant difference in the user experience of the newer model, apart from the application use. With the new one, I can adjust the temperature on my phone and monitor the warmth of my room, whereas with the older model, I cannot do either of those things or view the pollutants.
It's worth mentioning that since acquiring the Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde, I've barely experienced any hayfever symptoms. The Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde can be purchased directly from Dyson for £449.
