Sisi Reaffirms Support for Libya's Unity, Sovereignty
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for Libya's sovereignty and unity, stressing the urgent need for all foreign forces to withdraw from Libyan territory to enable lasting peace and stability.
President El-Sisi made these remarks during a meeting on Saturday with Aguila Saleh, Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, which was also attended by Hamid Al-Safi, Political Advisor to the Speaker, and Major General Hassan Rashad, Chief of Egypt's General Intelligence Service.
Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the talks focused on the latest developments in Libya. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's firm backing for Libya's national institutions and called for unified efforts to achieve a comprehensive political settlement that would enable simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections at the earliest opportunity, reflecting the aspirations of the Libyan people for peace, security, and prosperity.
President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt's ongoing commitment to coordinating with all Libyan parties and international stakeholders to ensure Libya's political and security stability, which he described as inseparable from Egypt's own national security.
He strongly underlined the necessity of a complete withdrawal of all foreign forces from Libya to safeguard its sovereignty and to empower national institutions to restore order and stability across the entire country.

More than 20 arrests at protest in support of Palestine Action after UK ban comes into effect - War on Gaza
More than 20 people were arrested Saturday after protesters gathered in central London in support of Palestine Action. The protest in Parliament Square came hours after the pro-Palestinian activist group was banned in Britain under anti-terrorism laws. The group lost a last-minute court battle late Friday seeking to block the British government's ban, which came into effect at midnight. Activists and their supporters have said the group is non-violent and advocates civil disobedience, and condemned the government decision as authoritarian. A small group of protesters stood beneath a statue of Mahatma Gandhi and held placards reading, 'I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.' Police surrounded them and several people were taken away. One woman seen lying on the ground in handcuffs was carried by officers to a police van. 'Palestine Action is a proscribed group, and officers will act where criminal offences are committed,' the Metropolitan Police said in a statement. The designation as a proscribed group under the Terrorism Act 2000 means that membership of the group and support of its actions a criminal offense punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Some 81 organizations are already proscribed under the UK act, including Hamas and al-Qaida. The government moved to ban Palestine Action after activists broke into a Royal Air Force base in Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, England, on June 20, damaging two planes using red paint and crowbars in protest at the British government's ongoing military support for Israel in its war on Gaza. Police said that the incident caused around 7 million pounds' ($9.4 million) worth of damage. Four people between 22 and 35 years old were charged Thursday with conspiracy to commit criminal damage and conspiracy to enter a prohibited place for purposes prejudicial to the interests of the U.K. No pleas were entered at Westminster Magistrates' Court in central London and the four are scheduled to appear on July 18 at the Central Criminal Court. Journalists Syndicate condemns Egyptian TV host interviewing of former Israeli foreign minister - Foreign Affairs
Khaled El-Balshy, president of Egypt's Journalists Syndicate, has denounced a recent televised interview between Egyptian TV presenter Emad El-Din Adeeb and former Israeli foreign minister Yair Lapid, calling it a 'professional and humanitarian crime.' In a statement released on Friday, El-Balshy accused Adeeb of giving a platform to justify the 'war crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation army.' The interview with Lapid, who currently leads the opposition in Israel, aired on Thursday via Sky News Arabia from the United Arab Emirates. El-Balshy reaffirmed the syndicate's longstanding opposition to all forms of normalization with Israel, referring to a 1981 decision by its general assembly that opposes engagement with Israeli officials on professional, union-related, or personal levels. He noted that Adeeb was expelled from the syndicate in September 2020 following a disciplinary committee ruling over his dismissal of dozens of journalists from the now-defunct Al-Alam Al-Youm newspaper. Had Adeeb still been a member, El-Balshy said, disciplinary action would have been taken in response to the interview. He also urged journalists to adhere to the syndicate's anti-normalization stance, warning that any current member who violates it would face immediate internal investigation. The interview prompted widespread criticism on social media, with commentators accusing Adeeb of failing to challenge Lapid's falsehoods and of promoting normalization with Israel. Some critics said the broadcast could serve as a cautionary example in journalism schools. Veteran investigative journalist Yousri Fouda also criticized the interview. While acknowledging that journalists have a duty to seek truth from all sources — including adversaries — he questioned the editorial judgment behind the broadcast.
