The 'terrifying' reason Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley swapped LA for London

TV stars Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley had spent the last year renovating their new London home after moving back from LA.
In 2020, Cat and Patrick announced they wanted to leave LA after a 'terrifying gun incident'.
They bought a €5.7 million (£4.9 million) property in Hampstead, North London, which they were in the middle of renovating.
Speaking to You magazine at the time, Cat revealed: "I got a call from Paddy, saying, 'They're taking us out through the fire exits but nobody can get to their car. If we walk to a junction, can you come and get us.
"He wanted to keep Milo calm, so I didn't understand the enormity of what was happening. As I was driving I began to see helicopters, news vans, firemen and Swat squads."
Describing the incident as "terrifying" and revealing her husband was "shaken", Deeley said they had to revisit the shooting incident again when they were looking for prospective schools for their son.
"There was a moment when I was with a friend looking at potential schools for Milo and we had to ask the question nobody wants to: 'What do you do if there is a live shooter on the premises?'... The danger suddenly becomes a reality."
Their London home was renovated to create a "west coast-inspired" home, drawing on mid-century modern architecture, with Cat sharing some details of their renovation on their home on her Instagram stories.
The couple's architect told the MailOnline: "The proposed external appearance builds on the inherent character of the existing house but updates it into a contemporary dwelling both in use and character.
"It is inspired by mid-twentieth design ranging from the designs of Alvar Aalto to houses of the west coast of America which are familiar to the clients who spent many years living there."
"Materials have also been introduced that connect the clients to their previous home in LA and to places that have significant memories for them."
Last year, Patrick revealed he contracted shingles from doing a loft renovation in their home and was afraid he had infected Pope Francis when he was invited to Rome to meet him.
The Late Late Show host travelled to the Vatican in June and was among an audience of 100 international comedians and artists who met the Pope.
"The week beforehand, we were doing up a house, and I was lifting loft insulation and I thought I actually got loft insulation in my face. (My face) had all swollen up," he added.
"When meeting the Pope, I took off my sunglasses and could sort of see him physically recoiling, 'what's going on with this fella'?
"It was only afterwards that I actually found out I had shingles. So there was a chance that I had given the Pope shingles, but I was never so glad to actually see him the week after in full health, giving the blessings. It was a surreal experience."

Ireland Rugby star Robbie Henshaw shocks Mayo pub with accordion performance

Ireland star Robbie Henshaw showed that his talents extend far beyond the Rugby pitch as he shocked a Mayo pub with his incredible performance on the accordion. Henshaw will have been disappointed to miss out on the recent British and Irish Lions tour, having previously been selected for two tours. The one positive is that he was around to spend time with his friends on a stag do. In a video shared by Wesport Boozer Dohertys, Henshaw can be seen wearing a Fred Flintstone-style costume while his friend sings along. "We were thrilled to welcome Irish Rugby international and Leinster star Robbie Henshaw today — and who better to treat us to a few tunes on the box!" the pub said in a post. It's not the first time Henshaw has been in the spotlight for his talented music, having previously performed at the Fleadh with his family, and was also put on the spot by Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty last year. Speaking about his love of music back in 2017, Henshaw told Off The Ball: "I was more nervous about music than I was with a game. Music was at the heart. It kept us all together in Athlone. "We've a big family and it kept us close to our cousins. When we meet up, we'd have sessions. Music was at the heart of that." Henshaw started out playing with the fiddle before deciding to learn the accordion. Such is the stock of the Henshaw family and their high standard of traditional music that they teamed up with trad legend Sharon Shannon to release their own album, The Secret Sessions, in 2018. The money raised went to the South Westmeath Hospice.

Cracks between Kielty and Deeley appeared when they were asked on to Lucy Kennedy show

Their agents refused to deal with each other when Lucy Kennedy asked them to appear on her TV show Former golden couple Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley's relationship deteriorated so much this year that their agents refused to deal with each other when Lucy Kennedy asked them to appear on her TV show, insiders have revealed. Sources told the Sunday World that producers of 'Living With Lucy' came up against a brick wall when enquiries were made for the duo to appear on the hit reality programme. 'The team put out feelers earlier this year to offer to film at their London home and not only did they come up against a block against the very idea, but they knew something must have been up in the relationship when they discovered in their communication with their separate agents that they refused to liaise with each other about it,' reveals our mole. Kielty will be back as Late Late host Late Late Show presenter Kielty and This Morning host Deeley issued a joint statement on Wednesday declaring their 12-year marriage was over. While the break-up may have come as a surprise to many, for other observers the writing was clearly on the wall in March when Cat did not attend the funeral of her mother-in-law Mary in Co. Down. She appeared on her TV show as normal that morning, with a spokesperson later issuing a statement about why she didn't attend. 'Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day,' the spokesperson said. Kielty has confirmed he will be returning to the Late Late Show in September, which is the final year of his three-year contract. 'We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved,' the couple announced on Wednesday. 'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.' The last prominent public pictures of the pair together was when they were on a family holiday to St Tropez in France last year. Cat (48) and Paddy (54) first met on the set of Fame Academy in 2002, but both were in relationships at the time. Kielty was previously engaged to Irish TV presenter Amanda Byram. Cat once told Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show how he popped the question years later, having kept in touch with her. CRACKS: Paddy at his mum's funeral while wife Cat stayed in London to host This Morning with Ben Shepherd (below) . 'There was a night where it was the day before my birthday — I can't even remember what birthday it was now! It was thirtysomething — he called me and he spoke to me on the phone,' Cat told Ryan. 'He said, 'Oh, what are you doing for your birthday? I'm just ringing to say happy birthday.' I said, 'Oh, we're going to the Beverly Hills Hotel. We're just going to have a late brunch; it's going to be very civilised. It's a shame you're not here; otherwise, you could come'.' Back then Paddy was in a pub in his hometown of Dundrum, Co. Down, and bolted home to book a 7am flight to LA for the next day. The English beauty was taken aback at his gesture and, at her birthday brunch, confessed she 'slightly fell in love with him'. They tied the knot in a private ceremony in Rome in September 2012 after nine months of dating. If Cat and Paddy had agreed to do Lucy Kennedy's show it would have been a huge feather in her cap. Host Lucy Kennedy Lucy recently let the cat out of the bag that Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star Caitlyn Jenner will be on her new series. Not only did Lucy confide in friends about the mystery celeb she spent time with in Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago, but she also hinted at the location by posting a picture of a swimming pool on her Instagram stories. A reverse image search of the pool shows it's in Caitlyn's Malibu mansion. The pair first met when they both attended the Benefit Awards in Dublin in 2018, where Caitlyn received the Beauty Icon Award and Lucy was named Best Female TV Star. The first of Lucy's series were screened on RTÉ and featured Jade Goody, Samantha Mumba, Brian McFadden, David Norris, Calum Best and Dáithí Ó Sé. Six of Lucy's guests have since sadly died — Jade Goody, Sarah Harding, Brendan Grace, David Gest, Christy Dignam and Dickie Rock. Lucy (49) previously told the Sunday World that the deaths of Jade and Sarah in particular struck a chord with her. 'Both so young,' she reflected. 'I lived with Jade Goody six months before she was diagnosed. I remember I was talking to her about going into the Big Brother house in India and she asked my advice and I said 'Actually, I wouldn't'. 'She went into the house and that's where she found out she had the cancer.'

Huge Hollywood star reveals Netflix have AXED his first TV show for a surprisingly saucy reason

The veteran action star revealed the reason why girls approach him at the gym SANK GIG Huge Hollywood star reveals Netflix have AXED his first TV show for a surprisingly saucy reason THE Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger says his Netflix spy show Fubar won't be back for a third outing. And the veteran action hero says the huge popularity of his son Patrick in Sky's The White Lotus is partly to blame. Arnie told NBC's Seth Meyers: 'Patrick blew it out of the water. Before, all the people came up to me in the gym and said 'Arnold get in touch with me, especially girls. 'And as soon as White Lotus came out, this girl says: 'here is my contact'. I said: 'well thank you'. She replied: 'No, no, no, for Patrick'. 'Now everything is about Patrick, Patrick, Patrick.' But the reality is Netflix bosses pulled the plug after Fubar had poor ratings. Arnie played a CIA operative forced to shelve retirement. The show clearly couldn't compete with Patrick flashing his privates as alpha male Saxon on The White Lotus.
