'Should undergo mental checkup': BJP mocks Kejriwal's 'Nobel Prize' remark; slams 'sheesh mahal' model

Arvind Kejriwal
over his recent comment that he deserves a
Nobel Prize
for governance despite administrative challenges.
During the launch of the Punjabi edition of "Kejriwal Model" in Chandigarh on Tuesday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief claimed, "Despite being stopped from working, we delivered.
I should get a Nobel Prize for governance and administration for doing so much despite a lieutenant governor and various difficulties."
The statement prompted immediate backlash from BJP leaders. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva suggested Kejriwal should undergo a mental health evaluation, stating, "He can only get a Nobel Prize if it is for corruption, anarchy, and inefficiency." Sachdeva pointed to multiple FIRs against Kejriwal and claimed Delhi's residents had rejected his leadership.
BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh demanded explanations from Kejriwal, questioning whether the Nobel Prize claim was for alleged misconduct in various areas including the Jal Board, Mohalla Clinics, education sector, and environmental issues concerning the Yamuna River.

Chhattisgarh deputy chief minister and BJP leader Vijay Sharma also took a jibe at the AAP leader. "The people have already given him a Nobel Prize. Everyone knows about his deeds. Working while running such a big racket is a significant thing," he said.
The AAP has not yet responded to the BJP leaders' comments.

Every year, July 13 is observed by many in J&K as Martyrs' Day to remember the 22 people shot dead by the Dogra army outside Srinagar's central jail. However, the day was removed from the list of public holidays by the Lieutenant Governor-led administration in 2020 after the region's reorganisation in 2019. In a post on X, Abdullah had said, '13th July massacre is our Jallianwala Bagh. The people who laid down their lives did so against the British. What a shame that true heroes who fought British rule are today projected as villains only because they were Muslims.' The BJP criticised the comparison sharply with BJP national general secretary and J&K in-charge Tarun Chugh saying, 'That was colonial brutality against unarmed civilians. July 13 was a communal mob trying to destroy order. Don't twist facts.' Chugh also claimed that the event was being used to whitewash violence and blamed Abdullah for ignoring the 1990 forced exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. He accused the National Conference of glorifying Abdul Qadeer, calling him a British agent who incited the mob in 1931. 'This is not martyrdom. This is political fraud,' Chugh said. He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the BJP would continue to tell history as it happene and would work towards the justice and return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits. J&K deputy chief minister Surinder Choudhary responded by accusing the BJP of using communal politics. 'They are misleading the public. Talking against Kashmir gives them political benefit in Jammu,' he said. The political tension came after several leaders claimed they were placed under house arrest on Saturday to prevent them from visiting the graves of the 1931 victims. The Srinagar administration had officially denied permission to political groups to gather at the Naqshband Sahib Martyrs' Graveyard. Abdullah called the move 'blatantly undemocratic' and said that locking elected representatives in their homes and sealing graveyards was an attack on democracy. 'We will not forget their sacrifices,' he said. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said the mistrust between Delhi and Kashmiris will truly end only when India accepted Kashmiri "martyrs" as their own.

Labour minister criticises BJP for unfulfilled beef ban
Davanagere: "India holds the second position globally in beef exports, with Uttar Pradesh leading domestic production. This shows the BJP leaders' inability to implement their promised beef ban despite their daily rhetoric on the issue," said labour minister Santosh Lad. Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Lad noted that the BJP is in power in 20 states of the country. Even in Uttar Pradesh, which has a chief minister who chants about the sacred cow, there is no control over beef. "BJP leaders, who criticise nutritious food for dogs, should speak on this matter," he stated. Addressing sports funding disparities, he highlighted that Gujarat received Rs 600 crore and Uttar Pradesh Rs 400 crore under Khelo India, despite their minimal Olympic participation. In contrast, Tamil Nadu received only Rs 43 crore, while Punjab and Haryana, states with significant sporting achievements, received reduced funding. He expressed concern about the national tax collection target of Rs 45 lakh crore, noting that the central govt achieved less than 20%. He criticised the administration's performance and highlighted the Rs 16.5 lakh crore loan write-offs for industrialists whilst small businesses and farmers struggle. He noted that even small eateries serving butter dosa face GST notices. Responding to educational concerns, he addressed the issue of escalating school fees, making education inaccessible to ordinary citizens. He advocated for regulated fees in medical and engineering education, stating the state govt would support central initiatives.
