Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday said the Congress govt will not allow the AP govt to proceed with its Godavari-Banakacherla project until Telangana completes all its pending irrigation projects in the basin area and secures its rightful share of river water.

He also assured the people that the Congress govt would fight at all levels to reclaim the seven mandals of the combined Khammam district which were merged with
on the pretext of the Polavaram project.
"We are going to expose BRS, BJP, and TDP conspiracies behind the Banakacherla and Polavaram projects. AP minister Lokesh said they only want to tap the excess water from the Godavari river, which is flowing into the sea through the Banakacherla project.
The water is flowing away because the previous BRS did not complete pending irrigation projects in the basin to secure Telangana's rightful share of river water," Bhatti said at a public meeting in Kollapur constituency after laying foundation for new substations, distributing ration cards, and Indiramma housing sanction letters.
BRS betrayed the people of Telangana. They came to power promising water, funds, and jobs.
But in 10 years, they failed to complete any major project on the Godavari or Krishna river. It was the Congress govt that initiated projects like Jurala, Nettempadu, Koilsagar, Kalwakurthy, Srisailam, and Nagarjunasagar on the Krishna, and SRSP, Sripada Yellampalli, Devadula lift irrigation, Indira Sagar, and Rajiv Sagar on the Godavari.
The previous BRS govt failed to complete even the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme.

"The Congress govt in the undivided state came out with the Pranahita-Chevella project at 152m height to benefit upland areas. Instead, KCR opted for the Kaleshwaram project at only 100m height, which ultimately collapsed despite spending 1.2 lakh crore, whereas Pranahita-Chevella could have been completed with 38,000 crore. The previous BRS govt redesigned projects only to loot the state treasury," Bhatti alleged.
Bhatti said: "The Congress govt has spent over 1 lakh crore on welfare schemes since coming to power, with schemes like 10 lakh Aarogyasri, free bus travel for women, Indiramma housing scheme, 500 gas cylinder, 200 units of free electricity, 2 lakh crop loan waiver, Rythu Bharosa, and Cheyutha pensions, to name a few."

Article 370 abrogation a defining moment in J&K's history: BJP spokesperson

On eve of sixth anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, BJP said that it's revocation brought progress and development in J&K. Congress, meanwhile, will hold protests at different places in J&K on Tuesday. BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur (File) On August 5, the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir marks the sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A. On August 5, 2019, Indian Parliament revoked Article 370 and bifurcated J&K into two UTs. BJP J&K spokesperson Altaf Thakur said that August 5, 2019, will be remembered as a defining moment that ended decades of uncertainty and paved the way for peace, prosperity, and equal rights in the region. 'Prior to the abrogation, J&K remained trapped in a vicious cycle of hartals, stone pelting, and terrorism. Shops remained shut for days, schools were forced to close, and normal life was frequently disrupted due to the fear spread by separatists and terrorist sympathizers. But after August 5, 2019, that chapter has closed for good,' he said, adding that incidents of stone pelting have come down to zero and local recruitment of youth into terrorist ranks has almost stopped. 'This shift is proof that the youth of J&K have chosen books over bullets and laptops over stones,' he said. Thakur said the last six years have witnessed unprecedented development across all regions of J&K. 'Whether it's the construction of roads in far-flung areas, expansion of health and education infrastructure, return of tourism, or rising investor interest—J&K is on a new path of progress,' he said. Meanwhile J&K Congress is planning to declare August 5 as black day and has been running a protest campaign for restoration of J&K's statehood. J&K Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra had asked political leaders of all the parties to join their protest on August 5.

Hyderabad: A special train carrying over 1,200 Congress workers and leaders from Cherlapally station departed for New Delhi on Monday. They would be joined by hundreds of other partymen from the State to participate in a protest led by CM A Revanth Reddy on August 6, demanding Presidential assent for the BC reservation bills passed by the State Legislature. Speaking to media persons before boarding the train PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud said that as part of multi pronged strategy the LoPs in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge will be move special adjournment motion in the houses on August 5, to demand a debate on the BC quota bills. The next day, as part of building pressure on the Centre, over 2,000 leaders including Ministers from Telangana, led by the Chief Minister will stage a dharna demonstration at Jantar Mantar. On August 7, a delegation of leaders led by CM would be meeting President Droupadi Murmu. PCC chief alleged that Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and other BJP leaders were trying to obstruct the 42 per cent quota to BCs by citing inclusion of Muslims. 'Modi himself boasted about his endorsement for reservation to Muslims in Gujarat. Even UP and also neighbouring AP have this provision. Only when it comes to Telangana, objections are being raised,' he said. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge will also seek an audience with the President. Among those who boarded the train include AICC State in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan. I'm part of Padyatra as a party worker: Meenakshi Natarajan Trying to clear the air over 'ideal gossip', the AICC incharge said that the 'Janahitha padayatra' was not her own campaign, but being led by PCC president. Meenakshi Natarajan clarified to the media that the ongoing padayatra whose first phase was completed was inspired by Rahul Gandhi. 'Rahul Gandhi has shown us the path as to how to reach out to the people. We are taking forward this idea and the PCC president has given a call for this yatra,' she explained. The AICC incharge further said that PCC president and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has taken a historic step of 'social justice' towards getting 42% BC reservation and the Congress leaders do not have time to respond to gossip. 'I am privileged to take part in this (padayatra), as a party worker. Each padayatra gives me an opportunity to introspect myself. I don't have time to respond to ideal gossip, as there is a lot of work in wake of this historic step,' she added.

Congress enacting political drama over BC reservations: BJP chief

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress party of staging a political drama over the issue of Backward Classes (BC) reservations. He alleged that the Congress was deliberately misleading the public by taking the matter to Delhi, taking out a Rail Yatra, and organizing a protest at Jantar Mantar. On Monday, Rao questioned the rationale behind the Congress's agitation, pointing out that it was the same party that had made the Kamareddy Declaration promising 42% reservations for BCs. He noted that the BJP had unconditionally supported the bill in the State Assembly and asked why the Congress was now creating unnecessary commotion. 'This drama in Delhi shows that the Congress has no intention of implementing BC reservations in the upcoming local body elections,' he said. He expressed concern over the lack of transparency regarding the ordinance, stating, 'The State government had issued an ordinance, and we don't know what was in it.' A copy was sent to the State Governor. Rao further criticized the state government's decision, reportedly marking a copy of the ordinance to the President of India, calling it unprecedented and unconstitutional. 'Ordinance approval is the prerogative of the Governor. Sending it to the President raises serious questions. Does it happen anywhere in the country that any state government makes a copy of its ordinance to the President of India, he asked. Rao also alleged that the Congress was attempting to introduce 10% Muslim reservations within the 42% BC quota, thereby attempting to harm the original BC reservations. He said that the BJP has raised this issue. However, the State government has no answer to it, nor has it given any explanation on the same. 'Congress has done too much and caused enough damage to the country,' and asserted that the people of Telangana would see through the Congress' 'game plan' and 'gimmicks,' which he claimed would not be taken seriously by the public.
