New details released on mysterious fatal shooting of 13-year-old Pasadena boy
On Monday, police revealed new details in the unsolved murder case that they hope can help bring justice for the boy's tragic slaying.
On Nov. 20, 2021, the driver of a gray Ford Fusion stopped in the parking lot across from Moreno's home on North Raymond Avenue, according to authorities. The passenger of the vehicle got out and fired two gunshots east, one of which hit Moreno.
At the time, police said they didn't believe Moreno or his family were the targets of the gunfire. The fatal shooting came amid a rash of shootings at the time that drew more than 100 community members, city leaders and police to hold a vigil for the victims of gun violence.
Newly enhanced surveillance video of the shooting revealed that part of the license plate number of the Ford Fusion was QJ117, according to a Pasadena Police Department post.
The video also showed the shooter, who appeared to be a Black male between 33 and 37 years old, between 6'0' and 6'1' and 185 to 195 pounds, police said. He was wearing a red and black North Face hooded sweatshirt.

Video of violent altercation in Cincinnati goes viral, prompting police investigation
Police are investigating a violent altercation involving multiple people that happened in downtown Cincinnati on Saturday night after video of the brawl went viral on social media. According to police Chief Teresa Theetge, the incident 'was a sudden dispute between individuals following a verbal altercation,' and was not connected to the Cincinnati Music Festival that was happening at the same time. Theetge said she is 'in complete disgust waking up to the viral video' of the incident circulating online. 'The behavior displayed is nothing short of cruel and absolutely unacceptable,' she said in a statement on Sunday. 'Our investigative team is working diligently to identify every individual involved in causing harm.' Police did not share any information about the altercation, what caused it, or how many people were involved. They did not clarify if there had been any arrests as of Monday afternoon. Theetge is asking anyone with information on the incident to contact police. Videos circulating online show a chaotic scene involving at least a dozen people. In one video, a few men can be seen standing face-to-face, having what appears to be a verbal altercation, before one man seems to hit another in the face. This seems to set off a full-blown physical altercation, where the man who threw the first hit is beaten by multiple people in the middle of a street. The violence includes kicks and stomps to his face. Two other men who appear to know the man being beaten also appear to be attacked by the crowd. In another video, a woman attempting to defend him gets knocked unconscious by someone in the crowd. Blood could be seen running from her mouth as she lay on the ground. It is not clear what happened before these videos were taken. The incident has garnered much attention on social media over the weekend, particularly on Elon Musk's X, where many high-profile rightwing accounts such as 'LibsofTikTok' and 'End Wokeness' framed the fight as an assault by a Black 'mob' on a white couple. Musk himself published posts decrying the fight and calling for mainstream media attention. He did not mention race in his post. Prominent Republican politicians also weighed in, with Vice President JD Vance answering a question Monday about the fight, saying he saw a 'mob of lawless thugs beating up on an innocent person.' Vance's half brother Cory Bowman is running for mayor of Cincinnati and will face the incumbent, Aftab Pureval, in a November election. advanced on Tuesday to compete in the general election. Dundas homicide victim identified; search on for shooter
Hamilton police have identified 25-year-old Zachary Shuman of Dundas as the victim of a fatal shooting in a Governors Road parking lot Sunday. Investigators are now looking for a suspect who fled in a blue Ford Edge. Police were called to the area of 77 Governor's Rd., a condominium west Ogilvie Street in Dundas, around 5 p.m. and found Shuman unresponsive in a parking lot near the building, said Det. Sgt. Sara Beck, of the homicide unit. Heavy police presence expected in area of Governors and Ogilvie. His grey Dodge Ram pickup truck was found parked in the lot that is next to Chegwin Park Path. Witnesses described a blue Ford Edge leaving the scene. Detectives have learned there was a brief interaction between Shuman and the driver of that Ford Edge in the parking lot of the Metro, at 15 Governors Rd. — less than half a kilometre away — shortly before the shooting, Beck said. Police remained at the scene of a homicide near 77 Governors Rd. in Dundas Monday morning. The shooting took place Sunday. 'We know an interaction occurred, what the content was, the conversation or why it was happening we don't know,' Beck said of the brief interaction at the grocery store. 'It occurred while both Zack and the suspect were in their vehicles.' From there both vehicles travelled to the nearby parking lot, but Beck would not say whether one driver was following the other or the order they arrived.
