Rorick, Roberts named 2025 Hillsdale Area Best Athletes of the Meet; Top 5 event results

Both athletes were Area Best winners. Grayson Rorick set a new personal best time at the Area Best 800-meter run, winning the event with a time of 1:55.43. Despite not feeling well during the event, Rorick was able to best his time ahead of the upcoming D4 state finals.
Roberts won the 400-meter dash with a new personal best time of 1:00.71. Roberts also helped the 4x400 relay team of Madison Sallows, Lucy Cote and Georgia Whalen win with a time of 4:14.09.
Congratulations to each of the Area Best Meet champions. Many of the winners are moving on to compete for all-state and more at this year's MHSAA finals. Check out the top five results in each event below.

Michigan State football extends official offer to legacy LB commitment
Michigan State football has officially extended an offer to a legacy commitment. Adam Shaw of Hillsdale, N.J. announced on Saturday that he's received his official offer from Michigan State. Shaw -- who flipped his commitment from Rutgers to Michigan State in June -- shared a post on social media X about the official offer from the Spartans. August 1 is the first day for schools to extend official offers to prospects in the 2026 class. Shaw is a three-star linebacker prospect, with a recruiting rating of 88 in 247Sports' rating system. He ranks as the No. 44 linebacker and No. 16 player from New Jersey in the 2026 class. Shaw is a Spartans legacy, with his dad, Scott Shaw, playing for Michigan State in the 1990s. Michigan State is one of nearly 20 schools to offer Shaw, according to 247Sports. He was notably being recruited by Rutgers, Pitt and Michigan State before selecting the Spartans. Registration is open for the Hillsdale College Youth Football Camp this August
HILLSDALE — All youth football players and parents interested in gaining insight and skills from the Hillsdale College football program should pencil in the date of Aug. 17 on their calendars. The Chargers will be hosting their annual Youth Football Camp, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17. More: Hillsdale College to host athletic summer camps The event will be held at Muddy Waters Field in Hillsdale, Michigan. The camp is for students entering grades 1-6 in the fall of 2025. Hillsdale College football coaches and players will be running the camp, and it will be a mix of teaching general agility skills, position-specific skills and fun activities. The main goal of the camp is to help kids learn the game of football and fall in love with the game at an early age. Cost for the camp is $20 for the one-day session and includes a camp t-shirt. Parents can register their children online by visiting the link provided, or going to clicking on the Department tab and clicking on the camps page in the drop-down menu.
