90 Day Fiance's Tyray Considers Weight Loss Surgery: What He's Said About the Procedure

Yahoo23-04-2025
90 Day Fiancé star Tyray Mollett revealed he's focused on his fitness and considered undergoing gastric bypass surgery. In light of his weight loss journey, fans are likely wondering how Tyray plans to achieve his new look and how the process has been going.
Tyray first announced he was interested in having a gastric bypass surgery in February 2024.
'I did get in contact with a company based in California but does procedures in Mexico,' he said during the February 7, 2024, episode of 'The Sarah Fraser Show' podcast. 'I worked out a deal with them to get a gastric sleeve done in April.'
At the time, he said he put a deposit down for the procedure but was 'still debating' if he should go through with it.
'They want me to do it,' he told the show's host. 'I have to do the pre op in like a month but I'm probably, most likely going to do it. I think it'll be good and I got to make sure I'm good and healthy.'
While fans have watched Tyray pursue relationships on 90 Day: The Single Life and 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, he returned to the TLC franchise on season 6 of 90 Day Diaries to document his interest in having the procedure done at Central California Bariatric Surgery center.
'I really need to make these changes and do whatever I can to keep the weight off,' Tyray said in a confessional, which was shared via TLC's Instagram in April 2025. 'Because my life depends on it.'
As clips showed him contemplating the surgery, he added, 'Hopefully this will be the start to a new beginning. You know, I'm ready to look like a snack and not eat 'em.'
Shortly after TLC uploaded the clip, several people rushed to the comments section to show their support for Tyray. 'I'm so happy you are doing this in CA and not Mexico!! Good luck on your journey!!!' one person commented.
Despite expressing interest in the procedure on the show, it was not revealed if Tyray went through with the surgery. Meanwhile, he has not shared any updates about if he had the surgery done on social media.
'Gastric bypass and other types of weight-loss surgery — also called bariatric or metabolic surgery — involve making changes to your digestive system to help you lose weight,' according to the Mayo Clinic. 'Bariatric surgery is done when diet and exercise haven't worked or when you have serious health problems because of your weight. Some weight-loss procedures limit how much you can eat. Others work by reducing the body's ability to absorb fat and calories. Some procedures do both.'
Bariatric surgery and other weight loss surgeries can offer many benefits. However, 'all forms of weight loss surgery are major procedures that can pose risks and side effects.'
After people undergo the surgery, they 'must make permanent healthy changes to [their] diet and get regular exercise to help ensure the long-term success of bariatric surgery.'
