Rumors are circulating online that Vavara 'Varya' Malina has been arrested.
Malina appeared on Season 4 of TLC's 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, which aired in 2020. She was featured alongside a man called Geoffrey Paschel, who is from Tennessee. Malina eventually relocated to the U.S. to be with Paschel.
In 2022, Paschel was sentenced to 18 years in prison after he was convicted of kidnapping and assaulting his ex-fiancée.
Paschel also had a criminal history, which included convictions of possession with intent to sell a controlled substance, in addition to two federal drug trafficking charges, according to a report from People. In 2020, fans called for him to be removed from the show due to the allegations against him, and over 5,000 people signed a petition to remove him from the show.
Though Paschel is incarcerated, Malina has maintained her relationship with him, and four months ago, she shared a vlog on YouTube in which she speaks about Geoffrey's life in prison. In a November 2023 Instagram post, she wrote, "As many of you know, my man is currently serving time in prison. Instead of letting this situation hold me back, I've chosen to take a different path. I've decided to travel more, explore new horizons, and let the world be my guide."
Malina regularly shares content on her Instagram, with recent posts showing her traveling and spending time with her family.
Newsweek has contacted Malina for comment via social media.

New docuseries explores Ruby Franke's 'twisted dynamic' with Jodi Hildebrandt: See trailer
Viewers will learn more about the "twisted dynamic" between infamous mommy vlogger Ruby Franke and business partner Jodi Hildebrandt in a new docuseries from Investigation Discovery. "Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence," set to premiere in early September, combines exclusive interviews, commentary, as well as extensive archival and police footage to offer "unprecedented insight" into Hildebrandt's rise to power within the Mormon community through her life improvement program ConneXions and how it led her to Franke. The show, specifically, will chronicle the women's "doomed partnership" and the "dangerous, disturbing results of unchecked influence to reveal the physical and psychological impact of their abusive actions." Franke, who ran a popular YouTube channel called "8 Passengers" with her family, and Hildebrandt, Franke's counselor-turned-business partner, were arrested and convicted of child abuse after two of Franke's six children were found abused and malnourished. "The docuseries charts the magnetic connection between the two and how the melding of Franke's strict family values with Hildebrandt's controversial beliefs created a microcosm of control, manipulation, and brutality that led to the devastating emotional and physical abuse of the Franke children," Investigation Discovery said in a news release. Here's what we know about "Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence," including how to watch it. Who is Ruby Franke? And what did she do? Ruby Franke, 43, is a former mommy vlogger who lived in Springville, Utah, with her husband Kevin and their six children. The couple ran a popular and now-defunct YouTube channel called "8 Passengers," which showed snippets of the family's daily life online to an audience of millions beginning in early 2015. Franke later became the subject of widespread criticism online for her parenting choices, particularly her discipline methods that some considered borderline abusive. The pushback intensified when Franke co-founded ConneXions with Hildebrandt, a family counselor turned business partner. Many found that the "parenting style" the pair promoted was extreme and harsh. The frequent inclusion of what has been called homophobic, racist and transphobic comments did not help their popularity. In one often-referenced example, Franke told viewers that children do not deserve, and should not receive, unconditional love. Both women were arrested and initially charged with six counts of second-degree aggravated child abuse in September 2023 after two of Franke's six children were found abused and malnourished, the office of Eric Clarke, the Washington County Attorney in St. Georiga, Utah, announced at the time. They both pleaded guilty in December 2023 to four of the six counts as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, USA TODAY previously reported. Franke and Hildebrandt were sentenced to prison time ranging from four to 60 years in February 2024 and are currently serving their respective sentences. What will be in 'Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence'? The four-part docuseries "underscores Hildebrandt's manipulative and dangerous tendencies and how when combined with Franke's strict family values, they created an environment rife with manipulation, control, and abuse," according to Investigation Discovery. "Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence" does feature "extensive interviews with former clients." Jessi Hildebrandt, Hildebrandt's niece, and others, including local journalists as well as current and former members of the Mormon faith, will also offer "additional and exclusive insight" throughout the docuseries, the TV network said. Jason Sarlanis, president of Investigation Discovery, said in a statement, "The disturbing alliance between Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt has captivated and horrified the public, and this docuseries peels back the layers of that relationship through exclusive interviews with family members, former clients, and experts to explore the broader implications of family vlogging and the devastating impact of family abuse." Watch 'Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence' trailer How to watch 'Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence' The four-part Investigation Discovery docuseries will premiere over two nights, Sept. 1 and Sept. 2, at 9 p.m. ET/midnight PT. Episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max.

Man Tries To Relax on Lake Float—but He Has Two Golden Retrievers
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. With golden retrievers, relaxation can be an elusive thing. That didn't stop one man online from trying, though. His afternoon enjoying a peaceful float on a lake was hilariously interrupted by his two devoted goldens, whose unwavering loyalty—and perhaps a touch of "fear of missing out"—prompted an impromptu "rescue" mission. The adorable scene, captured in a viral TikTok video, has gone viral with over 2.7 million views. "'Spotted: Dad alone. On float. Without us. He looks like he needs us. Does he even have snacks? We must go rescue,'" the creator captioned the video, imagining the dogs' inner dialogue. "'Emotional support en route. Target acquired … Backup has arrived … no man left behind. No raft left afloat.'" One by one, the dogs plunged into the water, swimming toward their owner. The first golden retriever reached the inflatable and clambered aboard with a splash, followed shortly by its equally determined sibling. The result? A deflating inflatable and a man now submerged under the weight of two very loving, but heavy, golden retrievers. The creator's page says the goldens, named Whaler and Flapjack, adore swimming. "If there's water, we're in it," the profile reads. Internet viewers quickly fell in love with the dogs' earnest, if misguided, heroism in the video. TikTok users flooded the comments with laughter and relatable stories. "'Dad looks like he's resting peacefully! Must change that!'" one commenter added. "Lovely," another wrote. "How could anyone beat the love these guys have for their human?" Stock image: A tan-colored dog swims in a lake. Stock image: A tan-colored dog swims in a lake. Nataba/Getty Images Many viewers found humor in the dogs' single-minded focus on their owner—even at the expense of his relaxation: "Dad probably been out there since morning coffee trying to get some … peaceful sunlight," one person posted. The canines' approach to the "rescue" was also a source of amusement. "The funniest part was the first mud trail. Golden one has a visual on the target and has engaged. Golden two sweeping in for clean-up," a commenter said. Some viewers offered practical advice, suggesting ways to ensure the dogs' safety during their water adventures. "You should get them life jackets," one wrote. "I had one and it made my parents feel so much better and I got to swim for longer!" These golden retrievers, known for their friendly and loyal nature, seem to fully embody the spirit of "no man left behind"—even if it means sacrificing their human's peaceful float. Owner Gets 'Cute Fluffy Puppy'—Not Prepared for What He Turns Into
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A woman has shared how her tiny, incredibly fluffy puppy used to look—and how he's transformed as an adult dog. Jasmine Hill, from Melbourne in Australia, is the proud owner of German shepherd dog Kaiser, who she described to Newsweek as a "big gentle giant with a heart of gold." He weighs a whopping 83 pounds or 38 kilos, which she joked likely included two kilos in his long hair alone. Her TikTok account, @jasminehilll, is filled with videos of Kaiser, from when she got him as an eight-week-old puppy, to now, as a very large, but equally adorable 3-year-old dog. "German shepherds get a bad reputation but I'd like to show people the amazing breed they are," she said. "He's been around other dogs and children and is super gentle. He doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body—he's all bark when a stranger comes near our house but he wouldn't hurt a fly." Now a video showing how Kaiser has changed since she brought him home in 2022 has proved hugely popular, racking up more than 130,000 likes since being posted on July 15. The clip, set to Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," begins with baby Kaiser sitting on an outdoor deck. He is extremely fluffy, and has large, floppy ears that have somehow become tangled up on his head. And while he's tiny, he already has big paws, hinting at the size he will eventually grow to. Kaiser as a puppy. Kaiser as a puppy. TikTok @jasminehill And that's exactly what happens, as when the video switches, it shows Kaiser now: a majestic young shepherd almost lion-like in his appearance, with a mane and long fur, looking enormous in the backyard he's sitting in. Hill wrote in the caption: "Cute fluffy puppy into a protective handsome man." She added: "It's the crossed-over ears for me." Many others also commented on puppy Kaiser's ears, one commenter writing: "I loved the crossed-over ears phase," another agreeing: " puppy ears!" Others were in awe to see what he had grown into, one describing him as a "regal beautiful lion," and another calling him the "most handsome boy in the world." "Why do dogs grow up so fast," one lamented, as one called him "absolutely beautiful big and little," and another declared Kaiser "grew up into a lion." And several commenters used the word "majestic" to describe him. Kaiser now, fully grown. Kaiser now, fully grown. TikTok @jasminehill Hill told Newsweek she "was, and still am, shocked to see how many people have enjoyed the transformation video of him from a puppy to an adult! But it makes me so happy people can see and appreciate his beauty. "He loves cuddles on the couch, soft squeaky toys and walks to the park. He's super protective of our home and lets us know when strangers are near!" German shepherds are known for their confidence and smarts, and make good family pets thanks to their affection towards their owners and young children, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). GSDs can grow up to 26 inches at the shoulder and weigh up to 90 pounds, making them a handful to raise, but they reward owners with loyalty and courage, willing to put their life on the line to defend family.
