Barcelona honors Kobe Bryant with new jersey bearing brand logo
The five-time European champion said its new jersey will replace the usual Nike swoosh logo 'with the 'Kobe Sheath' — the sword in the sheath logo that identifies the Kobe Bryant brand.'
Barcelona said the club had a special relationship with Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in Southern California in 2020. He made appearances alongside club members and first-team players during his visits to Barcelona and when the club visited the United States.
'The shorts are black with Persian violet details and a textured snakeskin outline, a reference to the Black Mamba alter ego of Kobe,' Barcelona said.
The change, made in collaboration with Nike, will last three seasons.
'All in all, it is part of a brand collaboration between the NBA legend and FC Barcelona that is born out of a shared culture of sporting excellence that characterized Bryant and is also part of FC Barcelona's DNA,' the club said.
'This agreement aims to keep alive that notion of brotherhood and at the same time create a link between Kobe fans and FC Barcelona to make the global impact of the American's legacy even greater amongst the sporting community and fans.'

After taking on Daegu FC, Barcelona will return to Europe and take on FC Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy - their final pre-season game before the Liga season returns. Their first match of the 2025-26 campaign is an away trip to Mallorca, with Barca looking to get off to a positive start as they aim to defend their crown.

'I thought the crowd was (very) nice for me playing the last player in the tournament from Canada,' Fritz said. 'I thought it was going to be a little bit more hostile. But I guess everyone is just so nice. I've dealt with a lot worse.' Fritz set up a fourth-round match in the hard-court event with 19th-seeded Jiri Lehecka of Czechia. Lehecka beat 15th-seeded Arthur Fils of France 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The 27-year-old Fritz is No. 4 in the world. He has 10 career ATP Tour titles, winning this year on grass at Eastbourne and Stuttgart. SINGAPORE -- It's Katie Ledecky against Summer McIntosh in the final of the 800-meter freestyle, probably the most anticipated race at the swimming world championships in Singapore. The race is one of six finals on Saturday, but it overshadows everything else on Day 7. The championships wrap up on Sunday. Ledecky of the United States holds the world record (8 minutes, 04.12 seconds) set earlier this year. The 28-year-old American has dominated the distance for a decade and has already won gold in the 1,500 in Singapore. She also has a bronze in the 400. Ledecky, 28, has won nine Olympic gold medals — the most decorated female in history — and her first gold was in 2012 in the London Olympics in the 800. McIntosh is an 18-year-old Canadian. She's already won three golds in Singapore and she swam just a second off Ledecky's time earlier this year. If anyone is to dethrone Ledecky, it's McIntosh. This would be McIntosh's fourth gold as she goes for five individual golds in the worlds, a feat only achieved the legendary American swimmer Michael Phelps. The other five finals are: the women's 50 butterfly; the men's 50 free; the women's 200 backstroke; the men's 100 butterfly; and mixed 4x100 freestyle relay.
