Body found in search for Brian Tarrence on Turks and Caicos was short walk from where New Yorker vanished: report
Cops found the unidentified body on July 5, not far from the Paradise Inn in Grace Bay where Tarrence and his wife stayed before he went missing, private investigator Carl DeFazio told People magazine.
'[The body] was found a 20-minute walk from where he was last seen,' DeFazio, a former Marine and NYPD cop, told the outlet. 'I would say about a block off of Leeward Highway in a little residential commercial area.'

Tarrence, 51, arrived on the British territory on June 25 for a romantic anniversary getaway with his wife, Maria, but disappeared from the resort in the middle of the night three days later as she slept.

Police said an investigation into his disappearance is ongoing.
Tarrence, a vice president with Diligent Software in Manhattan, recently moved to the Big Apple from upstate Monroe, where neighbors said Monday that the couple was not very outgoing.
They said the family moved to Manhattan to be close to Tarrence's stepson, who is in college there.

'He was renting here for the past 2 years,' one woman said. 'He seemed like a nice guy. He worked from home most of the time. They were going into the city now that [their] boy was graduating from high school. Just to be in the city, explore.
'They were going to be empty nesters,' she added. 'I know a lot of the neighbors didn't really know them. They kept to themselves.'
Tarrence's family has not responded to requests for comment.

Monday's memo does not explain when or where they were located, what they depict and whether they were newly found as investigators scoured their collection of evidence or were known for some time to have been in the government's possession. Police in Turks and Caicos recover body amid search for missing man
As the search continues for a missing New York City man last seen in Turks and Caicos, officials in the Caribbean country said that the body of a man was recovered Sunday, July 6. According to a press release from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, the body was discovered at around 9:05 a.m. local time on Sunday while police searched for missing New York man Brian Tarrence, who has been missing since June 25. Police said the body was found in a "state of decomposition," with the body's identity unable to be immediately confirmed. "The Royal Turks and Caicos Island Police Force extends sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. We urge members of the public to refrain from speculation and allow the investigation process to confirm the identity through official channels," Acting Commissioner Rodney Adams said in the release. The discovery was made as officials continue to search for Tarrence. According to local news station NBC 4 New York, the 51-year-old, who was last seen June 25, was on vacation on the island with his wife. According to NBC 4, the couple had gone on a boat ride and out to dinner before returning to their Airbnb at Grace Bay.
