‘Deeply disturbing': Bus driver bashed in South Brisbane
Video footage posted to community Facebook page Brisbane Incident Alerts on Saturday shows a bus driver trying to remove a man from a bus, allegedly for refusing to pay the 50-cent fare.
The passenger responds by punching the driver repeatedly in the shoulder and arm, stopping briefly to leave the bus before returning and punching him in the head.
The incident occurred about 6pm on Friday, but was only reported to police the following afternoon.
Queensland Police confirmed on Sunday that an investigation had been launched, and urged anyone with information to come forward.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner reposted footage of the assault on Instagram with a caption that read: 'This kind of behaviour is deeply disturbing and has no place in our city.
'No one deserves to face violence in their workplace, especially from a single individual whose reckless actions endangered the safety of everyone on board.
'My thoughts are with the bus driver who was subjected to this appalling and completely unacceptable attack while simply doing his job.'
Schrinner continued that while council, which manages Brisbane's bus network, has strong safety protections for drivers, 'we shouldn't need them, which is why we continue to stand up for Brisbane against crime to keep our community safe'.

Police appeal to public for help to solve alleged murder of Qld millionaire Greg Josephson amid investigation into death at party
Queensland Police are appealing to the public to assist with a major investigation into the alleged murder of Queensland millionaire and Universal Store co-founder Greg Josephson. Mr Josephson died at his home in the affluent north-east Brisbane suburb of Clayfield on June 26, and a 15-year-old boy known to the 58-year-old has been charged with murder. The death occurred amid a party at the residence attended by a large group of teenagers. Mr Josephson died from critical injuries after being discovered on the top floor of the address about 8.15pm. The teenager allegedly involved was located in the nearby area on Barlow Street after dialling triple-0, before being arrested and charged. It was alleged Mr Josephson died following an altercation between him and the 15-year-old. The alleged offender's matter was called at Brisbane Children's Court on June 27 and was adjourned until September 2, according to The Courier Mail. The accused teenager was reportedly remanded in custody. Detective Acting Superintendent Craig Williams last week confirmed police found a weapon allegedly used in the incident. Queensland Police announced on Wednesday that detectives are now appealing for more information as the homicide investigation continues under Operation Xray Matte. Anyone who has dashcam footage of the Alexandra Road, Oriel Road and Barlow Street areas between the hours of 7pm-8.30pm on June 26 are being urged to come forward. Teenage partygoers were taken to a police station that night to be questioned, and neighbours of the Clayfield property had told that attendees had frantically tried to the leave the address. 'They were just like 'we want to go home, and we're not allowed to leave'," one neighbour said. Police had described the scene of the incident as 'chaotic' and 'confronting' when they arrived. Mr Josephson co-founded popular clothing company Universal Store in 1999, and the business was sold in 2019 in a deal reportedly worth over $100 million. His Clayfield mansion, which had been purchased in 2016 for $1.91 million, had been listed for sale earlier in June. Following Mr Johnson's alleged murder, police appealed for information that could assist their investigation, including CCTV footage from the area. Information that may be able to assist police can be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or by making an online report at
