ALBAWABA- The Israeli military announced on Monday that it had detected two missiles fired from Yemen.
The Army added that it was working to intercept them and was reviewing the results of those interception attempts, as reported by Al Jazeera on July 7.
The military also mentioned that air raid sirens sounded in several areas across Israel after the two missiles were fired by the Houthi group in Yemen. On X, the army wrote: " IAF jets, guided by intelligence, struck Houthi terror targets at the ports of Al Hudaydah, Ras Isa, Salif, and the Ras Kanatib Power Plant."

For his part, the deputy head of the media office of the Ansar Allah group (Houthis) said, "Gaza is not alone, and Yemen does not sleep in humiliation."
Yesterday night, the Israeli military carried out airstrikes targeting multiple targets in the city of Hodeidah in Yemen.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the air force attacked "terrorist targets in the ports of Hodeidah, Salif, Ras Isa, and the Ras al-Khatib power plant" in an operation dubbed "Black Flag." He added, "We attacked the Galaxy Leader ship, which the Houthis hijacked two years ago and are using for terrorist activities."
This comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trip to the United States, during which he will be meeting President Donald Trump and American officials to discuss the war in Gaza and the peace talks with Hamas to end 21 months of war and reach a ceasefire deal.

Netanyahu, Syria's president to meet in Washington: reports

Hebrew media reported Tuesday that a high-level meeting is expected to take place between 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa in Washington, potentially marking a historic step toward normalization. According to Hebrew sources, the meeting could occur before the United Nations General Assembly convenes in September. Channel 24 reported that the anticipated meeting at the White House would include the signing of a security agreement between Netanyahu and Al-Sharaa, under the sponsorship of US President Donald Trump. The report emphasized that this agreement could serve as the first step toward a broader peace and normalization deal between the two. US mediation in final stages Israel Hayom cited sources close to the White House confirming that a US envoy was recently sent to Damascus to finalize the agreement. The deal would reportedly be guaranteed by the United States. The outlet also reported that President Trump is pushing for this 'Israel-Syria' agreement in exchange for Netanyahu's approval of a ceasefire deal in Gaza to end the ongoing war.

Abbas Araghchi meets Saudi counterpart in Mecca

ALBAWABA- In a significant step toward regional diplomacy, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on Tuesday at the Ministry's branch in Mecca. Also Read Two Missing, two injured after ship attacked off Yemen The meeting was Araghchi's first official visit to Saudi Arabia since attending the BRICS summit in Brazil, which indicates an easing of relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran after years of tension. According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the visit aimed to deepen dialogue on bilateral ties and explore pathways to enhance regional peace and security. The two top diplomats discussed ongoing regional developments, including efforts to stabilize the Middle East amid escalating threats and political unrest. Araghchi's visit comes at a critical moment. In a sharply worded op-ed published by the Financial Times, the Iranian Foreign Minister criticized the United States' regional posture, claiming that 'America First' has effectively become 'Israel First.' He argued that true diplomacy must be built on mutual respect and warned against coercive policies masked as dialogue. 'Negotiations held under the shadow of war are inherently unstable,' Araghchi wrote, cautioning that real dialogue cannot exist while threats and third-party interference persist. He pointed to Israeli airstrikes on Iran and U.S. policy shifts as key factors derailing progress. Araghchi also revealed that U.S.-Iran nuclear talks had gained momentum in recent months, but claimed the diplomatic channel was disrupted just days before a crucial sixth round of talks by what he described as 'an unprovoked Israeli attack.' He expressed doubt over renewed U.S. engagement, citing the collapse of the 2015 nuclear agreement and the lack of trust after repeated setbacks. Despite his sharp criticism of the U.S. and Israel, Araghchi emphasized Iran's commitment to preventing a full-scale regional war and reiterated Tehran's openness to responsible diplomacy. He described recent conversations with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff as more productive than four years of prior negotiations.

China blinds German spy plane over Red Sea with laser

ALBAWABA- In a provocative move, China targeted a German reconnaissance aircraft with a high-powered laser while it was flying over the Red Sea as part of the European Union's ASPIDES naval operation. Also Read Two Missing, two injured after ship attacked off Yemen The German plane was conducting surveillance on Houthi movements under the mission's stated aim of "protecting navigation." According to Berlin, the Chinese military's laser temporarily blinded the aircraft's systems, putting the crew's safety at serious risk and disrupting the mission. Germany's Foreign Ministry swiftly summoned the Chinese ambassador, condemning the act as "entirely unacceptable." In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the ministry stated: "The Chinese military employed a laser targeting a German aircraft in the EU operation ASPIDES. Endangering German personnel & disrupting the operation is entirely unacceptable. The Chinese ambassador was summoned to the Federal Foreign Office today." The timing of China's interference raises alarms, as it may be seen as an attempt to undermine Western naval efforts in the region, efforts that critics argue are less about maritime security and more about indirectly supporting Israel's military activities. China's action signals growing geopolitical tensions in the Red Sea, a vital but volatile maritime corridor now becoming a flashpoint for international rivalries.
