Nets vs. Knicks summer league game preview: How to watch, lineups

USA Todaya day ago
The Brooklyn Nets (0-2) have not had the start to the Las Vegas Summer League that they were hoping for when they made their debut for this event on last Thursday. The good news is that Brooklyn gets another chance to earn their first win of the summer league on Tuesday against the New York Knicks.
The Nets have seen solid performances out of players like Drew Timme and Nolan Traore over the course of their two games thus far, but everyone will be tested against this Knicks squad. For New York, they have been relying on Kevin McCullar Jr. and Pacome Dadiet as players the team is hoping can take the next step during the 2025-26 season to help the franchise move further in the playoffs.
Brooklyn has been trying to play at the fast pace that head coach Jordi Fernandez wants to play while maintaining the free-flowing nature of allowing other players to make plays within the flow of the game. With that being said, here's what you need to know to get ready for Tuesday's game against the Knicks:
How To Watch
Probable Starting Lineups
Brooklyn Nets
New York Knicks
Who To Watch
Drew Timme has been incredible for the Nets through two games as he is averaging 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 62.2% from the field and 30.0% from three-point land. However, it has been clear for awhile that Timme can play in the NBA after what he did last season in a limited sample size and what he's done thus far in Vegas.
One player to watch for against the Knicks is Egor Demin, the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and the player that most Nets fans are curious about. Demin has not had a breakout game in the summer league just yet, but it looks like his confidence is growing as he gets more comfortable with the NBA game and how physical the players are allowed to be.
Demin put up better counting numbers against the Wizards than he did in his debut against the Thunder, but his shooting percentages have not been encouraging to this point. Demin is not going to turn into a knockdown shooter over night, but it would ease some concerns about his ability to play off the ball if he were to shoot the ball better attacking the rim and finishing in the paint.

Celtics Send Parting Message After NBA Champion Joins New Team

Celtics Send Parting Message After NBA Champion Joins New Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A little over one year since winning their 18th NBA Championship, the Boston Celtics' roster is already beginning to look completely different. Earlier this offseason, Boston traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to the Portland Trail Blazers and Atlanta Hawks, respectively. Furthermore, backup center Luke Kornet left in free agency to sign with the San Antonio Spurs, and veteran Al Horford is all but confirmed to leave the Celtics this summer, whether it be to sign with another team or to retire. While these were the biggest losses the Celtics have had this summer, they are not the only ones. Recently, Drew Peterson, who had been with the team since 2023, signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets. On Wednesday, the Celtics sent a simple three-word message to the former NBA Champion: "Thank you, Drew ☘️" Across his two seasons with the Celtics, the Illinois native appeared in 28 games and started one of them. In those games, he averaged 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 7.5 minutes while shooting 44.7% from the field and 42.1% from beyond the arc. Peterson never got much of an opportunity in Boston, spending most of his time in the G League. Still, he looked solid when he did play, even if it was only in a small sample size. Even with next year looking like a gap year for the Celtics as they retool their roster, it was unlikely that the 25-year-old was going to carve out a big role with the team. Now that he is in Charlotte and reunited with head coach Charles Lee, Peterson might have an opportunity to have a breakout year and establish himself as a legitimate NBA contributor.
