PlayStation Plus Free Games April 2025: Predictions, Rumors, Leaks And More

Forbes25-03-2025

April is almost upon us, and with it a brand new lineup of free PlayStation Plus Essential games just in time for Easter and springtime. What should gamers expect this coming month? Only a few days of March remain.
The March PS Plus Essential lineup included a surprise treat: Dragon Age: The Veilguard, an almost brand-new RPG from Bioware that did so poorly it ended up on PS Plus faster than almost any game I've ever seen, barring those that release on the service at launch.
Last year, April's lineup included Minecraft: Legends, Skul and Immortals of Avenum which wasn't a bad slate of games by any means.
Read on for more information on next month's PS Plus lineup.
PS Plus is Sony's monthly membership program that grants access to online gaming. You don't need it for streaming movies or TV shows on Netflix and other services, or for free-to-play games like Warzone or Fortnite. Any paid online games, however, require a subscription.
There are three PS Plus tiers—Essential, Extra and Premium—though for the purposes of this post we're only discussing the Essential tier's free monthly games. Following a big price-hike, these tiers cost: PS Plus Essential — $79.99/year; PS Plus Extra — $134.99/year; PS Plus Premium — $159.99/year.
Sony typically reveals the following month's games on the last Wednesday of the month, though this isn't always the case. The actual rule of thumb is that the new lineup always releases on the first Tuesday of the month and the games are revealed the previous Wednesday.
This means, we'll get our April reveal on Wednesday, March 26th and the games will release on Tuesday, April 1st. Of course, that's April Fool's Day, so you really can't trust anything you read online that day.
We have no announcements, leaks or rumors yet for the PS Plus titles coming in April. Only one game releases that day: Koira from Don't Nod and Studio Tolima, 'a wholesome tale of friendship where you and your new puppy traverse a musical forest, solve ancient puzzles, befriend woodland creatures, and try to find your way home.'
At this point, all we can do is speculate unless something leaks or we get a full reveal.
Some of these are 'wishful thinking' choices and some are genuinely bad games that we all know Sony loves to stick in there from time to time.

In ‘Kill the Lax Bro,' Charlotte Lillie Balogh asks whodunit — and who let it happen

The aftershock of this betrayal was one of several personal heartbreaks that fueled Balogh's debut YA novel, is actor Chris Evans — Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up 'Almost everything in this book really happened in some way,' Balogh tells the Globe. 'There were quite a few Easter eggs of my exes sprinkled throughout.' Advertisement The murder, she assures, is strictly fictional. The mystery is set in the fictional Massachusetts town of Hancock during the 1990s, where star lacrosse player Troy Richards is the target of four students' attempts to ruin his reputation. But when Troy winds up dead during Hancock High's Lock-In Night, Andrew, his former teammate/best friend; Stassi, his straight A ex-girlfriend; Naomi, the shy but observant freshman; and Tatum, the burnout with a secret grudge, must unravel the whodunit before the crime is pinned on them. Advertisement With and commentary on toxic sports culture, status quos, and self-discovery. While Troy is the doomed, titular 'lax bro,' the sometimes-negative impact of student athlete culture and toxic masculinity are Balogh's real targets. She had been a member of her high school's rowing team and later rowed for Syracuse University as an undergrad. As a student athlete, Balogh observed the different coaching approaches for girls vs. boys team sports firsthand. 'I know a coach who told me it's easier to coach boys because they're very competitive,' says Balogh, who coaches a youth team in Los Angeles, where she now resides. '[While], girls are not encouraged to be as ferocious so quickly in life.' She was especially inspired by 'New England life'; in particular, her high school alma mater's boy's lacrosse team — Troy and Andrew are amalgamations of the memories of her classmates and her own. While Balogh describes Andrew as 'the boy next door,' his increasingly volatile actions reveal his more vengeful underbelly. Troy, though (dead and) the antagonist, becomes more sympathetic as his backstory is uncovered. The intention was to 'flip archetypes. 'They both have their own ways in which they're perfect and idolized by their classmates. And it's like, which of them is better?' she says. 'Are either of them better?' Balogh also drew from 'cinematic perfection' that is 'John Tucker Must Die,' the early-2000s teen dramedy about a group of girls who, upon finding out they're dating the same guy, team up for revenge. Advertisement Spoiler: John Tucker does not die — it's more social sabotage than murder — but Balogh, a TV writer by trade, had wondered: But what if they actually killed him? 'Kill the Lax Bro' started as a 50-page TV pilot script in 2020, but eventually caught the eye of Balogh's literary agent, with whom she had previously worked on another manuscript. (That story — about a Boston high school rowing team, ahead of the Head of the Charles Regatta — will be the basis for her second novel, slated for fall 2026.) When the manuscript was put out on submission, an editor at Penguin found a video of a table read of 'She watched this video and was like, 'I want to buy that as a book instead,'" says Balogh. Charlotte Lillie Balogh will celebrate the release of 'Kill the Lax Bro' at the Natick Barnes & Noble, July 12, 6 p.m. 1324 Worcester St., Natick. Marianna Orozco can be reached at

These Two Cool Mass Effect Mods Look Like The Perfect Way To Revisit A Classic Trilogy

If you're like me and haven't played the original Mass Effect trilogy in some time, then boy do I have some good news for you if you have the game on PC or are thinking of grabbing a copy on Steam. A pair of wildly impressive mods for the Legendary Edition remaster of everyone's favorite Xbox 360-era space opera trilogy contains so many exciting tweaks and so much new material that even I, someone who thought I was probably never gonna play those games again, is now thinking about how I'm gonna clear hard-drive space to hit the stars once more. The LE3 Diversification Project (the White House is already upset about it) and Spectre Expansion Mod from virtuoso modder Tydeous and a team of talented editors sound too good to be true. Check out the trailer and deep dive here: For those who don't have 17 minutes to check out the video, let me break down the highlights of what's on offer in these super neat mods: 4 new combat missions 1 new hub map 12 new cutscenes 8 altered cutscenes 3 new apartment decorations 6 updated character appearances And there's more than just what's in that list. From making subtle changes like replacing the textures on dead bodies to be more accurate to the lore of the world, to performing incredible feats of digital archaeology in restoring cutscenes that were only referred to in snippets of code in the original game's beta, the mods are packed with tons of new things to see and explore. The mods also expand how you can take in the world. For example, at the Purgatory night club from Mass Effect 2, you can now order drinks that were featured in Mass Effect: The Official Cocktail Book. Unfortunately, though it's well-deserved after such hard work, modder Tydeos is going on a hiatus now that his work on these mods is complete. However, according to the deep dive video, should he return in the future, he hopes to expand the four brand new missions the mod adds to the game to match the scale found in official, BioWare-brewed quests. .
