Now Showing: Movies for all with audio descriptions
This opening scene in Tourist Family, a Tamil film, was screened with audio description at AbilityFEST2025 in Chennai. It is rich with mood and movement, which most of us can easily understand — with wholesome visuals, emotions, and sounds. But what happens when someone can't see the screen? Or hear the nuance in a voice?
After watching a movie, many cinema buffs share thoughts about it the moment they walk out of the theatre. They post Instagram stories, write reviews on Letterboxd, or talk about it with friends. But for many Persons with Disabilities (PwD), even this basic connection to a story — the joy of reacting to a scene or simply followingwhat's going on — depends on something far more fundamental: access.

Lokesh Kangaraj breaks his silence on Sanjay Dutt's claims of 'wasting' him in Leo: 'It's all learning ...'
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt created quite a stir when he recently revealed he was miffed with 'Leo' director Lokesh Kangaraj for underutilising him in the Tamil action drama . In a recent interview, the filmmaker broke his silence on the allegations. In a candid chat with The Hollywood Reporter , the director admitted they made a 'mistake' when writing the role for the actor. 'I am not a genius or some greatest filmmaker in the world to not do something that may dip other characters. I've made so many mistakes in my films. It's all learning, no? So, yeah, I'll probably do one of the best roles with Sanjay Dutt, sir.' However, he also stated that the actor had called him after the interview and explained that the comment was made in jest, but the media had given a different spin to his words. 'He called me after that immediately, and he said, 'I made a comment very funnily, but people just cut it and put it. It looks so awkward, and I didn't mean it, Loki. I said, 'No problem, sir,'' he told the magazine. For the unversed, recently the 'Munna Bhai MBBS' star hit back at the director for not making his role in 'Leo' meaty. In a press interaction in Chennai, he said, 'I am angry at Lokesh because he did not give me a big role. He wasted me.' Kanagaraj's next directorial venture, Coolie, is gearing up to be one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year. The film features superstar Rajinikanth in the central role, generating massive buzz among fans. Joining him is a diverse ensemble cast that includes Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, and Monisha Blessy. Coolie is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on August 14. About 'Leo' Leo (promoted as Leo: Bloody Sweet) is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action thriller helmed by director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Developed under the banner of Seven Screen Studio, the film serves as the third entry in the expanding Lokesh Cinematic Universe. Drawing partial inspiration from the Hollywood movie A History of Violence, the film casts Vijay in the lead role, supported by a robust lineup including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Trisha, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Madonna Sebastian, George Maryan, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, and Mathew Thomas. The narrative centers around Parthi, a seemingly modest and peace-loving individual who becomes the target of two menacing gangsters, Antony (Sanjay Dutt) and Harold Das. They strongly believe that Parthi is actually Leo, Antony's long-lost son, who was believed to be dead. What follows is a gripping, high-stakes cat-and-mouse game packed with intense action, emotional turmoil, and a search for truth buried under years of secrecy. Leo hit cinemas worldwide on October 19, 2023, releasing in both regular and IMAX formats. Critical response was mixed—while Vijay's performance earned widespread applause along with appreciation for the film's technical brilliance and well-executed action scenes, the writing was met with divided opinions and some criticism. Despite the varied reviews, the film shattered multiple box office milestones for Tamil cinema. It became the second-largest Tamil hit of 2023, the third-highest-grossing Tamil film ever made, and ranked as the seventh top-grossing Indian film of that year. It also secured the title of the most successful Tamil film internationally and achieved the highest box office numbers ever recorded in Tamil Nadu. By the end of its theatrical run, Leo had raked in an astounding Rs 595 crore globally, cementing its place as a major commercial blockbuster.

BTS' RM and Jungkook admit Kim Taehyung has changed: ‘We can't keep up anymore, he's stronger'
BTS is united and the members are back to their chaotic selves, jumping on Weverse Live and goofing off on Instagram with fans. While Jin and J-Hope are busy taking over sold-out shows in Tokyo and Berlin with their solo concerts, the rest, V, Jungkook, Jimin, and RM, went live four times back-to-back. Suga, however, didn't make an appearance. And it was during this run of lives when, alongside fans, even Jungkook and RM admitted that Taehyung's time in the military has clearly changed him. They hailed him as one of the strongest in the group now, physically even ahead of the golden maknae. His time serving in the special unit paid off. Also read: India to soon have its own K-pop bands backed by BTS' agency: Will HYBE's big bet challenge Bollywood's reign? On Tuesday, V started a live stream and added Jungkook and RM. The three called themselves the 'workout crew,' but made it very clear that out of the trio, it's the Winter Bear crooner, once known as the most sensitive, who's taken things to the next level. 'Shocking news! Kim Taehyung is stronger than me,' RM said on the livestream, with Jungkook adding, 'He's stronger than me too.' They both admitted they can't keep up with him anymore. While RM and Jungkook said they've been mostly following the bodyweight training, Taehyung, who served in the Special Forces, leaned towards the full weight training. 'He's bigger than us. We can't even finish the sets he does now,' RM added. Taehyung laughed it off, but explained it was all about routine. 'I forced myself into the habit,' he said. The second oldest served in South Korea's military as part of the Special Duty Team (SDT), which excels in counter-terrorism. Every new recruit and trainee has to undergo very tough training, which also restricts them from engaging much with the outside world, one of the reasons why V largely stayed low-key, while the rest of the members made time-to-time appearances on social media. Also read: BTS' Jimin said he felt 'suffocated' listening to RM's track, knew something was wrong: 'I wonder what kind of jerks he's met' During the conversation, the Indigo hitmaker said, 'Taehyung was lifting weights in the Special Forces. He's way ahead,' and added, 'I go every day at 9:30 now, but what Taehyung is doing is insane. I'd lose to him in a fight.' To which the Celine ambassador said, 'You guys just started again. I've been consistent.' While V joked that both RM and Jungkook are making a fuss out of it and it's not true, fans are convinced, this new version of Taehyung is no joke. He's been through one of the toughest military units. He trained hard, rose to the rank of Sergeant, and even became an ace marksman. What's even more interesting is that the Singularity crooner earned the Special Warrior badge, an elite honour given to soldiers who are overachievers in all three areas: performance, strength, and discipline. As part of this recognition, Taehyung will now be listed in the unit's Hall of Fame for a year. On the work front, all BTS members have made it to the United States, where they're currently working on a song together. J-Hope and Jin, who are headlining their individual shows, are scheduled to join the others in Los Angeles. Earlier this month, the septet confirmed their comeback, addressing fans through a half-hour Weverse live. RM, the leader of the group, said they'll be rolling out their new album next spring, following which, chances of a world tour are on the horizon. The details of the same are currently under wraps.
