Visakhapatnam: two-day Skill development programme for contract workmen begins at HSL

Visakhapatnam, Apr 23 (UNI) Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) introduced a pioneering initiative to Reskill and Upskill its contract workmen, aligning with GoI's Skill India Mission.
The programme was inaugurated by Capt Venkateswarlu, Director (Shipbuilding) here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he explained the objective of the programme and encouraged participants to develop quality in workmanship across all streams of Shipbuilding.
Training programme is being conducted in bilingual language by In-house experts for the benefit of the workmen, he added.
The two-day Quality Improvement and Compliance Knowledge (QUICK) training program aims to benefit around 2000 contract workmen, enhancing their capabilities in Shipbuilding Technology. HSL, by investing in its silent workforce, is improving shipbuilding quality and ensuring professional growth.
Cmde Hemant Khatri, CMD of HSL, said that contractor workmen are the backbone of HSL's operations, and by empowering them with the right skills, they are building a stronger, more efficient, and more effective workforce, which will contribute to the Nation's Maritime Might.
This initiative is another step towards motivating and supporting HSL's contract workmen, following the institution of Group Personal Accident Insurance policy. HSL is committed to continuing such trainings throughout the year.

Four new pontoon jetties built in Bihar's Bhagalpur; Centre informs Lok Sabha

New Delhi, July 25 (UNI) The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has constructed four new pontoon jetties in Bihar's Bhagalpur district to boost inland water transport infrastructure, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha. According to the minister's reply, one jetty each has been built at Kahalgaon and Tintanga, and two at Sultanganj. The project, aimed at enhancing connectivity was completed at the cost of Rs 5.61 crore. "Onshore facilities are also being constructed at Sultanganj, Kahalgaon and Bateshwarstan at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.80 crore," the minister added. The development is part of the Centre's larger push to promote Inland Waterways under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. UNI XC PRS

JSW Neo Energy inks power purchase deal with SECI

Mumbai, July 26 (UNI) JSW Energy officially announced here that its arm JSW Neo Energy has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). "We are proud to announce the signing of our first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a load-following Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy project. This milestone underscores JSW Energy's commitment to provide advanced and tailored energy solutions that address the dynamic requirements of our off takers. With this project, we are strengthening our energy products and services offering while supporting the country's energy transition goals," JSW Energy Joint Managing Director & CEO Sharad Mahendra said. According to a company statement, the deal would enable the supply of 230 MW ISTS connected Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) under the SECI-FDRE Tranche IV scheme, adding that this development marks the company's first PPA for an FDRE project. The agreement has been signed for a tenure of 25 years at a tariff of Rs 4.98 per kWh, according to the statement. After this development, the company's total under-construction capacity stood at 12.9 GW, and its total locked-in generation capacity is at 30.2 GW. The deal ensures that JSW Energy is well-positioned to achieve its strategic target of 30 GW installed generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030.
