Entire flight cabin crew suspended after shock discovery made by passenger
An entire airline cabin crew has been suspended after a passenger's missing iPhone was tracked to their hotel.
Michael Tjendara was flying from Jakarta to Melbourne on June 6 when his phone vanished aboard the Garuda Indonesia flight, reports MirrorOnline.
The traveller says he left the device in his seat-back pocket, moved to a different seat after take-off and returned afterwards to find it was gone.

Tjendara then used Apple's Find My iPhone feature - and was shocked at what he had discovered.
The phone's signal led to a spot near Southbank Promenade in Melbourne, right by the Mercure Hotel, where the airline's cabin crew was thought to be staying.
Then the signal moved toward Evan Walker Bridge.
According to Tjendara, the final location revealed the phone had been dropped into the Yarra River in south-central Victoria, Australia.
He shared screenshots and updates about the theft to his Instagram, calling on nearby businesses to check CCTV and help identify those responsible.
"This isn't just about a phone - it's about the safety of all passengers in the future.
"Please help tag and share this story so the right people see it," he wrote.
The shocking incident has sparked major attention across Indonesia.
Garuda Indonesia's Director of Commercial and Cargo, Ade R. Susardi, said in a statement on June 9 that all crew members on duty had been suspended while a full investigation is underway.
"We are in continuous communication with the concerned passenger and remain committed to supporting him throughout the follow-up process," he told Indonesia Business Post.
The airline added that a company representative had been sent to help Mr Tjendara on the ground in Melbourne, and to assist him in filing a police report.
Mr Susardi also apologised for the incident on behalf of the airline.
"We can confirm that upon receiving the report, all cabin crew had followed standard operating and safety procedures, including promptly coordinating with airport authorities to initiate a search," he said.
Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier of Indonesia, operates a large domestic and international network with hubs in Jakarta and Denpasar.
The airline has been recognised as having the "World's Best Cabin Crew" on multiple occasions as part of Skytrax's 5-Star Airline awards.
This prestigious award, often referred to as the "Oscars of the aviation industry," was handed to the airline throughout 2014-2018, and again in 2023.
The Mirror has contacted Garuda Indonesia for an update in its investigation.

Concern for MP safety after online terror group listing
The home affairs minister has expressed concern for the safety of politicians after an online far-right extremist group was linked to a plot to kill a state MP. The extremist group Terrorgram, which was listed as a terror organisation on Friday, was linked to a plot to kill NSW Labor MP Tim Crakanthorp in 2024. Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said the plot was one of the reasons for the group's formal listing as a terrorist organisation. Australians who join, recruit or fund the network will face prison sentences of up to 25 years. Mr Burke said he was concerned about the potential for attacks against elected officials in the UK and US happening in Australia. "I don't want Australia to become a country where members of parliament can't move around freely and engage with the community. It's good for democracy," he told Sky News on Sunday. "Terrorgram has been shown to be a threat on our shores ... but (there was) as very direct attempted attack on an Australian member of parliament." The federal government says Terrorgram provides instructions to its members online through the chat platform Telegram how to conduct terrorist attacks, and has been responsible for inspiring events in the United States, Europe and Asia. The US branded Terrorgram a terrorist organisation in January. Mr Burke said while Terrorgram operated differently to other terrorist organisations, the group needed to be dealt with harshly. "What they're doing on that group is not just spreading a whole lot of racist forms of bigotry and other forms of bigotry. They then also share how-to guides on how to conduct a terrorist attack, encouraging people to do so," he said. "The fact that it's a different form of terrorism doesn't change one bit ... we need to act on it as seriously as we would if it were a group of people meeting in a room in a terrorist cell."

Bizarre crash as SUV lands on bed
Police are on the hunt for the driver of a luxury SUV who crashed through the wall of a Sydney home, landing on a bed. The driver reportedly fled the scene of the crash in Macquarie Fields, with the search now on. NSW Police confirmed that emergency services were called to the scene at about 4:20am on Sunday, finding a white Porsche Macan lodged in the Evelyn Street home. The car had reportedly hit an electricity transformer before it hurtled through a front fence and then the front wall of a single-storey house. The SUV careened into the bedroom, before it finally came to a rest on top of a bed. Two people are reported to have fled the scene before police arrived, while it has been confirmed that no one was in the home at the time of the crash. There are no reports of injuries, and an investigation is underway to identify the driver and cause of crash. Anyone with information has been encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Campbelltown Police.

Grim scenes in quiet residential street
A quiet residential street in Melbourne's northwest has been cordoned off after a man was arrested and police discovered human remains believed to be that of missing man Joshua Bishop, who disappeared a month ago. Sunbury man Joshua Bishop, 23, was last seen by his housemates in Lalor Crescent about 9.30pm May 27. He was reported missing two days later on May 29 by his mother. Police launched an investigation into the man's disappearance, which they said was 'completely out of character' and 'suspicious'. On Saturday, police completed a search warrant of a home in Erinbank Crescent in Westmeadows in Melbourne's northwest, where they discovered human remains. The remains are yet to be formally identified, though police believe they are of the missing Sunbury man. Police later arrested a 27-year-old Westmeadows man, who will be taken to a police station to be interviewed. No charges have been laid. The grisly discovery was made approximately 32km from the missing man's Sunbury home. A crime scene has been established by police, with officers from the Major Crime Scene Unit attending as they process the scene. The front yard of the Westmeadows property was cordoned off with police tape while officers examined the scene. Forensic officers were later seen wheeling his remains out of the house before loading it into the police vehicle, flanked by forensic officers, police and paramedics. Mr Bishop had never been reported missing before and was not known to police. His phone and bank accounts had not been accessed since May 27, and his phone last pinged at Broadmeadows Valley Park on Barry Rd. Police conducted a search of the park on June 6 but returned 10 days later for a renewed search. His heartbroken mother Kristie urged the public for any information, telling 9News his disappearance was 'definitely out of character'. 'Josh was really open with me. We had a really good relationship,' she said. 'This is not something he would do unless he felt he had to.' On social media, dad Travis pleaded for the safe return of his son. 'My heart is broken, please complete my family and bring my boy home,' he wrote. 'I'd give everything to have you in my arms.' He told 9News his son was 'loved by everyone' and urged anyone with information to come forward. 'Someone has to know something,' he told the outlet. 'We've had a lot of support, but we still haven't got any closer to our son, which is hard.' Relatives have set up a GoFundMe page to assist in the search for the missing man, which has since raised over $15,000. 'Our beloved Josh is missing, and our family is doing everything we can to bring him home safely,' the fundraiser read. 'Every moment that passes without answers is incredibly difficult, but we remain determined to keep searching until we find him.'
