Fadnavis Sets Deadline for 5,000 MW Solar Push Under Flagship Agri Feeder Plan

Nagpur: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis issued a clear directive to the state machinery: complete 5,000 MW of solar power projects under the ambitious 'Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0' by September 2025 .
Calling it his 'dream initiative', the CM told officials to treat the issue with urgency and efficiency.
"No procedural laxity will be tolerated. Districts must adopt a timeline-bound approach and ensure coordinated execution at every level," Fadnavis, also energy minister, said during a high-level review in Mumbai. The meeting, held to address land availability and ancillary concerns for the solar feeder rollout, was attended by revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, renewable energy minister Atul Save, minister of state for energy Meghana Bordikar, chief secretary Rajesh Kumar, and top officials from energy, finance, and forest departments.
Fadnavis underscored the need for seamless cooperation between local authorities and private players executing projects on both govt and private land. He urged district collectors to expedite no-objection certificates, land leasing, removal of encroachments, and remeasurement for timely approvals. "Obstacles faced by developers should be resolved on priority," he said.
Responding to recurring issues, Fadnavis instructed police to act swiftly in cases of theft from solar project sites.

He also directed that care be taken in densely populated areas, and that permissions for power lines crossing forest zones be granted without delay. "Guidelines related to trees must be strictly followed. Forest department must issue clearances on time, including for adjacent private lands," he added.
Fadnavis' push comes amid growing emphasis on decentralised renewable energy infrastructure for rural power stability.
District task forces have been told to closely monitor project progress.
Among those attending were additional chief secretaries OP Gupta (finance) and Milind Mhaiskar (forest), secretary Shrikar Pardeshi, and heads of MahaTransco, MahaGenco, and the state's energy development agency. All district collectors and zilla parishad CEOs joined via video conferencing.

'Constitutional obligation': Parliament extends President's Rule in Manipur by 6 months; effective from August 13

NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed a Statutory Resolution to extend President's Rule in Manipur for another six months. The move comes amid the ongoing unrest and fragile law and order situation in the northeastern state. The resolution states the "continuance in force of the Proclamation dated the 13th Feb '25 in respect of Manipur, issued under article 356 of the Constitution by the President, for a further period of six months with effect from 13th August, 2025." The resolution was moved by union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai , even as opposition MPs raised slogans in protest during the proceedings. — sansad_tv (@sansad_tv) Earlier on July 30, the Lok Sabha had previously approved the resolution to extend the President's rule in Manipur, reported ANI. The Centre had imposed President's Rule in Manipur on February 13, following N Biren Singh's resignation from his position as chief minister. Singh stepped down due to ongoing violence and political uncertainty that affected the state for approximately two years. Under Article 356 of the Constitution, this administrative change means the president will now oversee the state's governance through the Governor. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pensioners Can Buy These Electric Cars in Malaysia - See Prices Here! This directive transfers the Governor's powers to the President, shifts state legislative authority to Parliament, and suspends specific constitutional articles regarding legislative procedures and governance to facilitate central administration. President's rule is implemented when state governments cannot function according to constitutional requirements. This decision follows governance issues and security concerns in Manipur. During this period, all state legislation and decisions will be made under central authority. The ongoing unrest in Manipur stems from violent clashes between the majority Meitei community and the minority Kuki-Zomi tribes. The conflict, driven by disputes over economic benefits, job reservations, and land rights, has led to hundreds of deaths and the displacement of nearly 60,000 people.
