This 2-in-1 Laptop Is a Dream for Creatives and Prime Day Has It Slashed By Up to $450

CNETa day ago
For creative professionals, a versatile laptop that supports the right software and technology is essential. But not all laptops are created equal, nor do they rise to the occasion. The great news is that with Prime Day dropping prices left and right, tons of laptops are on sale. Among them is one that Cesar Cadenas, a writer for our sibling site ZDNET, called "ultraportable" and " a dream for creative professionals" in his review.
The 16-inch LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 16GB/1TB is currently just $1,697 on Amazon right now. With an original list price of $2,100, that's $403 off. And if you want the 32GB/2TB version, it's currently $2,100, which is $450 off.
Designed to be used as either a tablet or laptop, it weighs in at just over 3 pounds and, when closed, is only about half an inch thick. That makes this an excellent laptop for travel, commute, remote work and in-person meetings and presentations.
It also has a flexible hinge that allows you to configure it depending on how you wish to use it. Essentially the hinge takes the generous 16-inch display back so it can be used like a tablet, or it can be propped up.
The laptop has an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and hybrid AI solutions. Though both models come with quite a bit of storage, you also get an excellent experience with cloud-based software including advanced AI performance. And the battery boasts up to 19 hours on a single charge, giving iPads and MacBook Airs a run for their money.
A stylus is also included with your purchase. Cardenas writes, "It doesn't require Bluetooth. All you have to do is attach it to the hidden magnet on the right side, give it a few seconds, and the pen will connect to the LG Gram." Plus this is how you charge the stylus.

I Recommend This Security Cam to Anyone on a Budget, and Now It's Over 50% Off Today for Prime Day

I've tested dozens of security cameras over the years from brands like Blink, Lorex, Ring, Arlo and more. And no matter which model I'm looking at, one thing always holds constant: A camera with premium features is typically going to come with a hefty price tag. Prices for just a single camera can easily run $200 or even more. So when you're trying to put together a system with multiple cameras, the total cost can get out of hand quickly. But the second-gen Arlo Essential 2K cam surprisingly manages to stand out from the pack, and I recommend it as an affordable security solution for those who are on a budget. For Prime Day today, it's marked down by 53% on Amazon, dropping the price to just $48. That's a seriously good price for a camera that offers many of the same features of Arlo's highest-end models. If you're in the market for more than one security camera, even better, as the two-pack is currently discounted by 58%, bringing the price down to $80 from its usual $190 price tag. What I like about the Arlo security camera While testing the Arlo Essential 2K Cam, I found the indoor-outdoor wireless camera performs well. The 2K resolution helps gather plenty of details, it's highly weather resistant and Arlo's app excels at walkthroughs on how to set up and use the cam. Other common features include two-way audio, color night vision and a built-in siren. Arlo isn't done yet. The cam's integrated spotlight did a great job of lighting up my backyard -- and if you prefer other smart home platforms, it plays well with Alexa and Google Home, as well as IFTTT (no Apple HomeKit support at this time, but it's a possibility). For more, here are CNET's picks for the best home security systems. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. Arlo wins at customization in the home security conversation I liked a lot of what the Arlo Essential does but it's not too different from what many other security cameras do -- just surprisingly affordable. I really like Arlo's UI and smart home integration too, with an app that's easy to understand and pop open for a quick look at your home when you're out on the town (and that doesn't even require a subscription). It's the deeper customization features that really impressed me. Those who like to tinker with their home security setup will love the beta-version custom detection options that come with higher-tier subscriptions, in addition to facial and vehicle recognition. I haven't seen custom setups like this on any other security camera before. In my tests, I was able to "teach" the cam AI to recognize when a pet toy appeared on camera or when certain objects were no longer present. I could also use this feature to tell me when the garage door opened or if something valuable (say, a piece of artwork) disappeared. Likewise, the vehicle detection options can tell if a specific vehicle is pulling up to your home. I've never seen anything else like this for those who really want to push their home security to the limits. Arlo's Essential cam is a great deal but keep in mind Arlo's subscription options. See Now Arlo cams for yourself or others With Arlo's easy and informative setup process, the Essential camera is a great choice even if you or your family haven't tried a security camera before. As long as a user is comfortable trying out a new app and following the instructions, Arlo is an excellent experience. I rate the app and user-friendliness around Blink's level, another one of my favorite camera apps. With indoor/outdoor placement, the camera is also versatile so you don't have to worry about people not finding a place to use it. You could also spend a bit more to upgrade the camera with an extended battery and a solar panel, an effective combo if you want to avoid manually charging the battery as much as possible. It still needs a Wi-Fi connection but this combo is great for out-of-the-way spots like above my garage door or a high point on roof eaves. If you're thinking about getting this Arlo Essential camera as a gift, keep in mind Arlo locks quite a few important features behind its $8-plus monthly subscription, including smart alerts with object recognition and cloud video storage. So while the camera is usable without fees, there's a strong incentive to pay. Arlo does offer a free trial of its services but that could feel like a bait-and-switch to gift recipients who aren't expecting a security camera. If you want to give the cam as a gift, you may want to add some PayPal or Venmo cash to cover at least several months of a subscription. ORCL's Cloud Database Gains Steam: Is it the Next Revenue Pillar?

Oracle ORCL has taken critical steps to advance its database capabilities. As the company experiences enterprise shifts from on-premise databases to the cloud, it anticipates cloud database services to become the third pillar for revenue growth. In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025, cloud database services rose 31% year over year and now have annualized revenues of $2.6 billion as usage continues to grow. ORCL's launch of the Oracle 23 AI platform has enhanced enterprise functionality through secured training of business data with AI models. The company's flexibility to run its databases anywhere, with embedded AI and analytics via training of popular models, explains its growing popularity among enterprises seeking scalable and secure solutions globally. To further boost its database command, ORCL is actively migrating customers to its Autonomous databases, which are designed to be more self-managing and cost-efficient. This transition has been visible, as Autonomous database consumption revenues rose 47% on top of 27% growth reported last year. These initiatives are expected to drive cloud consumption, directly impacting top-line growth. ORCL's capital expenditure for fiscal 2026 is expected to exceed the $25 billion mark, with a focus on building 47 multi-cloud data centers. This infrastructure expansion is critical for supporting the surging demand for Autonomous databases and Oracle 23AI, as well as fulfilling the $138 billion in remaining performance obligations. Our model estimate for ORCL's fiscal 2026 cloud services and license revenues is pegged at approximately $52 billion, indicating year-over-year growth of 17.3%. Oracle is facing stiff competition from Amazon's AMZN AWS and Microsoft's MSFT Azure in cloud database services. Amazon's AWS is the leading provider of cloud infrastructure to enterprises. The company recently launched Nova Premier, a multimodal model designed to handle complex tasks like coding and natural language processing. Amazon plans to invest over $1 billion to build AI-enabled data centers in Ohio and Georgia, further strengthening AWS as a key profit driver for the company. Microsoft Azure commands a significant portion of the cloud space with its expertise in delivering scalable solutions across infrastructure, software and platforms. The company's presence in more than 70 announced Azure regions has strengthened its position, and Microsoft further plans to invest $80 billion in developing AI-focused data centers globally. ORCL's shares have appreciated 43.3% in the year-to-date period, outperforming both the Zacks Computer and Technology sector's return of 7% and the Zacks Computer-Software industry's growth of 16.4%. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Oracle trades at a three-year EV/EBITDA of 28.69X, substantially above the industry average of 20.07X. ORCL has a Value Score of F. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research The Zacks Consensus Estimate for ORCL's fiscal 2026 earnings is pegged at $6.71 per share, which has remained steady over the past seven days. This indicates an 11.28% increase from the figure reported in the year-ago quarter. Oracle Corporation price-consensus-chart | Oracle Corporation Quote ORCL currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Can Google Cloud's Growing Clientele Push the GOOGL Stock Higher?

Alphabet GOOGL has been benefiting from a growing Google Cloud business that accounted for 13.6% of total revenues in the first quarter of 2025. Google Cloud revenues jumped 28.1% year over year to $12.26 billion, driven by strong GCP growth and a solid demand for AI infrastructure as well as generative AI solutions. Google Cloud is now expanding its footprint based on the latest deals with Ecobank in Africa and to Synergy Research Group data, Google Cloud, along with Microsoft MSFT, is gaining market share, while Amazon's AMZN cloud arm, Amazon Web Services, continues to lead with a 29% market share in the first quarter of 2025. Alphabet and Microsoft had 22% and 12% market share, respectively. Google Cloud is benefiting from an expanding clientele and rich partner base. Google Cloud is benefiting from its partnership with NVIDIA NVDA. Google Cloud was the first cloud provider to offer NVIDIA's B200 and GB200 Blackwell GPUs and will be offering its next-generation Vera Rubin GPUs. Google Cloud is becoming a preferred choice for enterprises planning to deploy AI agents thanks to the Agent Development Kit and a low-code tool offering Agent Designer. The addition of Wiz to Google Cloud will boost competitive prowess against the likes of Amazon and Microsoft in the cloud computing space. Google Cloud's expanding clientele is expected to boost Alphabet's top line. BBVA's deal with Google Cloud will enable it to deploy Google Workspace with Gemini across the global operations of the bank. Meanwhile, the Ecobank collaboration aims at transforming financial services with advanced analytics and AI and driving digital empowerment across Africa. This offers a significant growth opportunity for Google Cloud in one of the most underpenetrated regions of the globe. Alphabet shares have dropped 6.8% year to date, underperforming the broader Zacks Computer & Technology sector's appreciation of 7%. GOOGL shares have underperformed Microsoft and Amazon, two of its closest competitors in the cloud computing domain. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Alphabet's focus on leveraging AI to drive growth is a key catalyst. AI is infused heavily across its offerings, including Search, Google Cloud and Pixel. Alphabet has been taking up initiatives to improve its market share in Search through AI innovations. The addition of AI mode expands AI Overview's advanced reasoning, thinking and multimodal capabilities. AI Overviews is driving a more than 10% increase in the usage of Google for queries that support AI Overviews in Google's biggest markets, like India and the United States. AI Overview is currently used by more than 1.5 billion people monthly. AI mode is now available in the United States. Circle to Search has been another key catalyst driving user engagement. At the end of the first quarter of 2025, Circle to Search was available on 250 million devices, with usage increasing roughly 40% during the quarter. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for second-quarter 2025 earnings is pegged at $2.12 per share, unchanged over the past 30 days, indicating 12.17% year-over-year growth. Alphabet Inc. price-consensus-chart | Alphabet Inc. Quote The consensus mark for 2025 earnings is pegged at $9.53 per share, unchanged over the past 30 days, suggesting 18.53% year-over-year growth. Regulatory headwinds like the lawsuit between the Department of Justice (DOJ) and GOOGL over Google Search are a concern. The DOJ argues that Google has inked anticompetitive deals with Apple and other companies for prime placement of its search engine and plans to break up Google to separate products like Chrome, Search and Android. DOJ's proposal doesn't bode well for Alphabet, given growing competition from AI-powered products like ChatGPT, Grok, DeepSeek, Perplexity and Meta is suffering from a lack of capacity, and until new capacity comes online this year, cloud revenues are expected to witness increased variability. The company expects to invest roughly $75 billion in capital expenditures in 2025, which is aimed at building up technical infrastructure, primarily for servers, followed by data centers and networking. Alphabet expects advertising revenue growth to be lower due to a challenging year-over-year comparison. The company enjoyed solid growth in the financial services vertical in 2024. The Value Score of C suggests a stretched valuation for Alphabet at this stock is trading at a premium, with a forward 12-month Price/Sales of 6.22X compared with the Zacks Internet Services industry's 5.33X. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Alphabet's growing AI capabilities and significant investments in cloud computing bode well for long-term investors. So, investors who have already invested in GOOGL stock should stay stiff competition in the cloud space, as well as the search engine market and increasing regulatory headwinds make the GOOGL stock risky in the near currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), suggesting that it may be wise to wait for a more favorable entry point to start accumulating the stock.
