Ahmad's Fried Chicken aims to open 66 new outlets
According to Ahmad's co-founder Lailatul Sarahjana Mohd Ismail, the company had launched 30 outlets in the first half of the year.
This includes four full-fledged restaurants, five mini restaurants, and 21 kiosks across states such as Selangor, Perak, Penang, Kedah, Negri Sembilan and Terengganu.
She said the brand has gained strong traction among fried chicken lovers, offering a nostalgic lineup of 24 heritage-inspired Malaysian dishes, including their signature crispy fried chicken, burgers and various side offerings.
"In the next six months, we plan to open 36 more outlets across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan as well as Sabah and Sarawak," she said at the launch of the brand's 30th outlet in Setiawangsa recently.
Lailatul added that Ahmad's is also offering business partnership opportunities for local entrepreneurs through a franchise-style collaboration model, as part of its broader expansion strategy.
"We're confident that this initiative will empower more local entrepreneurs to own and operate outlets under a beloved homegrown fried chicken brand, while fast-tracking our mission to bring nostalgic, heritage recipes to more Malaysians nationwide," she said.
Ahmad's, operated under Mad Bean Holdings Sdn Bhd, is also preparing to venture into international markets, with proposed outlets in Mecca, Brunei, Turkey and the United States.
"We are currently in the midst of exploring international expansion, and we aim to roll out our first overseas outlets next year," she revealed.
"Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia have been identified as high-potential markets, and will likely be our initial points of entry," she added.
Lailatul noted that the company's domestic and international expansion plans are aligned with its commitment to contribute to the development of Malaysia's F&B ecosystem, while creating more job opportunities in the growing halal food and beverage sector.

Ringgit strengthens against US dollar amid fiscal support measures
Published on: Thursday, July 24, 2025 Published on: Thu, Jul 24, 2025 By: Bernama Text Size: At 8.07 am, the local note rose to 4.2140/2320 against the greenback from Wednesday's close of 4.2255/2300. Kuala Lumpur: The ringgit strengthened against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, supported by improved market sentiment following the latest fiscal support measures. At 8.07 am, the local note rose to 4.2140/2320 against the greenback from Wednesday's close of 4.2255/2300. 'A dash of cash handouts adds lift (to the ringgit): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a RM100 cash handout for all adult Malaysians and a plan to lower fuel prices, aimed at easing cost-of-living pressures and likely to cycle quickly back into the local economy,' SPI Asset Management managing partner Stephen Innes also noted that the ringgit opened a touch firmer, though with a cautious step, as traders weighed the absence of a formal US-Malaysia trade deal against growing signs that one may soon be in the cards. 'Optimism still lingers around the announcement of the US-Japan agreement, and whispers of a pending US-European Union (EU) pact, awaiting a signature Trump reveal, are keeping risk appetite supported,' he added. Meanwhile, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid said anticipation of a possible trade deal between the US and the EU has fuelled positive sentiment in the US benchmark equities, while yields on US Treasury bonds were also higher. He noted that there appeared to be a risk-on mode in the financial markets, which has led the US Dollar Index to drop 0.18 per cent to 97.214 points. 'As such, expect the ringgit to remain positive today, with the US dollar/ringgit likely to oscillate between RM4.22 and RM4.23,' said Mohd Afzanizam. At the opening, the ringgit was mostly higher against a basket of major currencies. It advanced against the Japanese yen to 2.8774/8899 from 2.8837/8870 and was slightly higher against the British pound at 5.7201/7445 from 5.7230/7291. However, the ringgit eased slightly against the euro to 4.9590/9802 from 4.9586/9639. The local note was firmer against regional peers. It rose vis-à-vis the Singapore dollar to 3.3007/3153 from 3.3071/3109 and appreciated against the Indonesian rupiah to 258.4/259.6 from 259.1/259.5. The ringgit also inched higher against the Philippine peso to 7.40/7.44 from 7.42/7.44 and increased against the Thai baht to 13.0992/1613 from 13.1370/1567. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? China's Guizhou eyes strategic ties with Sabah
Published on: Thursday, July 24, 2025 Published on: Thu, Jul 24, 2025 Text Size: Liew (first right) in discussion with Liu Baochang and Datuk Frankie Liew. Kota Kinabalu: A delegation from the Guizhou Provincial Foreign Affairs Office visited Sabah on Tuesday with the aim of establishing a friendly provincial-state relationship with Sabah, marking a potential new chapter in bilateral cooperation between China's Guizhou Province and the Malaysian state. The proposal, which centres on strengthening ties in economy, culture, trade, tourism and people-to-people exchanges, was well-received by State Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Christina Liew, and State Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe. The visit, facilitated by the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC), saw the Guizhou delegation pay courtesy calls to both ministers to present the province's vision for collaboration. Leading the delegation, Deputy Director-General Liu Baochang outlined Guizhou's strengths, including its status as a hub for new energy, computing power infrastructure, scientific innovation, and liquor production, as well as being home to tech giants like Apple and Huawei, and the globally renowned 500-metre Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope, 'Sky Eye'. He said Guizhou is now actively expanding its reach to Central, South, and Southeast Asia, and sees Sabah as a strategic partner in the region. Liu also extended an invitation for Sabah leaders to visit Guizhou and witness firsthand the province's industrial and technological advancements. 'We hope to deepen and broaden cooperation in economic, cultural, and tourism fields, and establish a formal friendly relationship between our two governments,' Liu said. Christina welcomed the initiative, describing it as an opportunity to connect with one of China's dynamic provinces. 'This visit opens doors for greater understanding and collaboration, especially in areas like eco-tourism and the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme,' she said. She introduced Sabah's strengths in sustainable tourism, its rich biodiversity, and ongoing efforts to preserve indigenous cultures. She also revealed plans for a 65-acre Cultural Centre in Kinolok, where all 35 indigenous ethnic groups in Sabah will showcase their heritage, further enriching the state's tourism appeal. Meanwhile, Phoong highlighted Sabah's push toward industrialisation and infrastructure development, citing upcoming projects like the Pan Borneo Highway, airport expansions in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau, and the upgrading of Sepangar Port. 'Sabah is undergoing transformation through innovation and infrastructure. We see Guizhou as a valuable partner in this journey,' said Phoong, who also invited the delegation to participate in the 2nd Sabah-China Expo this November. He added that the state is working towards increasing its power supply by 700 megawatts by 2030, including launching Malaysia's first wind power plant. Datuk Frankie Liew, President of the SCCC, praised the high-level composition of the Guizhou delegation, which includes senior officials from the foreign affairs office, commerce department, and municipal governments. 'Sabah and Guizhou share similarities in natural resources and cultural heritage. With strong will from both sides, I believe we can foster pragmatic cooperation,' he said. He noted strong potential in areas such as ecological protection, creative industries, environmental technology, and green development, expressing confidence that the partnership would spur mutual growth. Also present during the visit were SCCC Deputy President Brett Chua, Vice President Ir. Ts. KJ Tan, JP, Datuk Jonathan Koh, JP, and officials from Invest Sabah including CEO Dr. Firdausi Suffian. The visit is seen as a stepping stone toward building a long-term cooperative relationship between Guizhou and Sabah, paving the way for increased economic opportunities and cultural exchange between the two regions. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
