Rabi 2024-25 paddy procurement crosses 72 lakh tonnes, 13 lakh tonnes more than 2022-23: Telangana Irrigation Minister
The procurement of paddy for the 2024-25 Rabi season has crossed 72.42 lakh tonnes from 12.33 lakh farmers as on June 8 and it is 13 lakh tonnes higher compared to the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi's (BRS) last season in power, Minister for Civil Supplies and Irrigation N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has said.
At a review meeting held in Hyderabad on Monday (June 9, 2025), he said that the higher procurement was possible with the opening of 1,344 more purchase centres compared to the BRS' last year in office. Against 7,034 centres opened in the 2022-23 Rabi season, the Congress government had opened 8,378 centres in the recent (2024-25) Rabi season.
The record paddy production in the recent Rabi season was a milestone in the State's history as it was achieved despite the Kaleshwaram project, claimed as one of its major achievements by the BRS, turning useless, Mr. Reddy said. He said that the value of paddy procured for the 2024-25 Rabi season was ₹16,760 crore. Of it, ₹15,121 crore was already paid to farmers.

Second unit of YTPS to provide 800 MW more power to State
HYDERABAD The second unit of the 5x800 Mega Watt (MW) Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) at Veerlapalem in Nalgonda district, Unit-1 technically, was dedicated to the nation by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday. Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Adluri Laxman Kumar were also present. Though the unit has been generating power (infirm) since February this year, it was not declared commercially operational officially. It was run experimentally for 72 hours continuously in the second week of July, as required before declaring it fit for commercial operation. There was a minor fire mishap at the unit in April this year. The Unit-2 of the project was commissioned (operating commercially) in January this year. With the commissioning of Unit-1 on Friday, a total of 1,600 MW capacity of the 4,000 MW project has become commercially operational. Employees' township Chairman of the Legislative Council Gutha Sukender Reddy, Principal Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director of Telangana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (TG-Genco) S. Harish, and directors of the power utility, participated in the commissioning of the unit. They later laid a foundation stone for construction of the employees' township. Mr. Vikramarka alleged that the negligence of the previous government had resulted in a two-year delay. He announced that the government would provide free education and health facilities to the power plant employees. Jobs, and relief and rehabilitation packages too, would be given to the families displaced by YTPS and Pulichintala irrigation project, which serves Andhra Pradesh. He stated that the remaining three units of the project would be dedicated to the nation next January. The delay in getting the environmental clearance afresh after changing the coal consumption completely to indigenous from the blend of imported and indigenous coal initially had delayed the commissioning of the project by two years and also resulted in additional financial burden. 'Our government has secured the fresh EC within two months of coming to power and reviewing the project's progress every month by fixing weekly targets,' the Deputy CM said and added that the government would provide all facilities to employees, including educational institutions with international standards and corporate-level healthcare facilities near the township so that employees could stay there without any problems. Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy also spoke.

Mahindra & Mahindra sells 28,708 tractors in July 2025
Mahindra & Mahindra sold 28,708 tractors in month of July 2025 compared to 27,209 units in July 2024, recording a growth of 6%. The company's domestic tractors sales rose 5% to 26,990 units while exports rose 6% to 1,718 units during the month. Commenting on the performance, Veejay Nakra, President Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra said, We have sold 26,990 tractors in the domestic market during the month of July 2025, a growth of 5% over last year. This performance was driven by sustained land preparation activities, supported by robust cash flows in rural markets following the conclusion of Rabi crop harvesting. Additionally, the normal progression of monsoon across most regions further contributed to good demand during the onset of sowing for the Kharif season. In the exports market, we have sold 1,718 tractors, a growth of 6% over last year.

Mahindra & Mahindra's Farm Equipment business reported total tractor sales of 28,708 units in July 2025, marking a 6 per cent increase compared to 27,209 units in July 2024. This includes both domestic and export sales . Domestic and export performance Domestic sales stood at 26,990 units, showing a 5 per cent rise from 25,587 units sold in the same month last year. Export volumes reached 1,718 units, up 6 per cent from 1,622 units a year earlier.
