24 Jordanian companies participate in New York Fancy Food Show 2025
Ammon News - 24 Jordanian companies specializing in the food industry are scheduled to begin their participation in the Summer Fancy Food Show 2025 on Sunday in New York City.
According to a statement issued Saturday by the Jordan Exporters Association (JEA), which is organizing the Kingdom's, the show is "one of the key international" food and beverage events in North America, due to the "wide" participation of exhibitors, buyers, and visitors from across the world.
IEA Chairman, Senator Ahmed Khudari, said Jordan's presence in the three-day event is the association's 16th consecutive participation in this global show.
Khudari added that the Jordanian pavilion will showcase a range of "high-quality" food products, mainly oriental desserts, spices, coffee, chocolate, canned Middle Eastern foods, and various soft beverages.
Khudari noted the participation is part of the association's plans and programs to support and enable the Kingdom's industry to enter new markets and keep pace with the latest developments in this field, which contributes to the continued development and growth of Jordan's food industry.
On its significance, he said the show constitutes an "important strategic" platform for Jordanian companies to showcase their products to a global audience and connect with major importers and distributors from various markets.
Khudari added that this vision would contribute to enhancing "competitiveness" of Jordanian products and increasing their export opportunities.
The event, he stated, is witnessing the participation of approximately 2,400 international exhibitors from 50 countries, presenting their products in more than 40 food categories.
Khudari said the U.S. is "one of the strongest" destination markets in terms of purchasing power and a "promising" market for national exports, adding that multiple national products have the opportunity to enter the market and meet its needs, as the two countries signed a free trade agreement.
Jordan has signed free trade agreement with the United States in 2000 and entered into force in 2010, aimed to strengthen ties of friendship and economic, commercial, and investment cooperation.
According to official data, Jordan's exports to the United States last year amounted to JD 2.208 billion, marking a 13 percent increase compared to 2023.
For his part, JEA Director General, Halim Abu Rahma, noted the Jordanian pavilion at the show since 2008 represents a "step" to enhance awareness of Jordanian products and network with major retailers and specialty food stores in the United States. Petra

Trump's son, Eric, suggests he could run for president
Ammon News - Eric Trump has hinted that he or another of the Trump family could run for president when his father's second term in the White House comes to an end. Eric, who is co-executive vice-president of the Trump Organization, said, the road to the White House 'would be an easy one' if he decided to follow in his father's footsteps. In an interview with the Financial Times, he said: 'The real question is: 'Do you want to drag other members of your family into it?… Would I want my kids to live the same experience over the last decade that I've lived? 'You know, if the answer was yes, I think the political path would be an easy one, meaning, I think I could do it,' he added. 'And by the way, I think other members of our family could do it too.' Unlike his other siblings, Donald Jr and Ivanka Trump, the 41-year-old has mostly stayed away from politics, focusing instead on running the family business since his father entered the Oval Office in 2017. However, he seems to have kept one eye on politics this whole time, saying he found himself 'wholly unimpressed by half the politicians' he sees and that he could do the job 'very effectively'. The US vice-president, JD Vance, and the secretary of state, Marco Rubio, are expected to be the frontrunners for the GOP nomination, but when asked if 2024 would be the last election with a Trump on the ballot, Eric Trump said: 'I don't know … Time will tell. But there's more people than just me.' He added: 'The question is, do you want to do it? And do you want to subject the people that you love to the brutality of this system? And I'm not sure if I can answer that question yet.' The president's son also addressed criticism that his family has profited from the presidency. When asked whether the White House has become another means by which is family could make money, he was adamant in his denial. 'If there's one family that hasn't profited off politics, it's the Trump family,' he said. 'In fact, I would sit there and say that we [would have] had many more zeros behind our name had my father not run in the first place. The opportunity cost, the legal cost, the toll it's taken on our family has been astronomical.' The Guardian

Elon Musk renews his criticism of Trump's big bill
Ammon News - Elon Musk on Saturday doubled down on his distaste for President Donald Trump's sprawling tax and spending cuts bill, arguing the legislation that Republican senators are scrambling to pass would kill jobs and bog down burgeoning industries. 'The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country,' Musk wrote on X on Saturday ahead of a procedural Senate vote to open debate on the nearly 1,000-page bill. 'It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.' The Tesla and SpaceX CEO later posted that the bill would be 'political suicide for the Republican Party.' The criticisms reopen a recent fiery conflict between the former head of the Department of Government Efficiency and the administration he recently left. They also represent yet another headache for Republican Senate leaders who have spent the weekend working overtime to get the legislation through their chamber so it can pass by Trump's Fourth of July deadline. Musk has previously made his opinions about Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' clear. Days after he left the federal government last month with a laudatory celebration in the Oval Office, he blasted the bill as 'pork-filled' and a 'disgusting abomination.' When Trump clapped back to say he was disappointed with Musk, back-and-forth fighting erupted and quickly escalated. Musk suggested without evidence that Trump, who spent the first part of the year as one of his closest allies, was mentioned in files related to sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein. Musk ultimately tried to make nice with the administration, saying he regretted some of his posts that 'went too far.' Trump responded in kind in an interview with The New York Post, saying, 'Things like that happen. I don't blame him for anything.' AP
