Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: LT Overton

Yahoo18-07-2025
As we look ahead to the 2025 college football season, there are few players on the Alabama Crimson Tide defense who have a greater amount of hype surrounding their potential this fall than LT Overton.
Entering year two in Tuscaloosa, Overton bypassed the NFL draft this past spring in order to return to Alabama for the 2025 season, setting the stage for what many across the college football world believe could be a career-year for the former top recruit.
With this, Overton likely enters the season as a potential first round pick in the 2026 NFL draft, and could possibly cement that status with a strong campaign this fall.
Here is a look at everything you need to know about Alabama's LT Overton entering the 2025 season.
LT Overton player information

LT Overton career stats
Over his three-year collegiate career so far, Overton has compiled a combined 90 tackles, six TFL, three sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery during his time at both Alabama and Texas A&M. Transferring to Alabama prior to the 2024 season, Overton had a combined 48 tackles, three TFL, and a sack while at Texas A&M in 2022-23.
LT Overton 2024 stats
Overton's 2024 season at Alabama was his first in Tuscaloosa after transferring from Texas A&M, with the move to join the Crimson Tide immediately translating to the career-year. Last season, Overton appeared in 13 games where he compiled 42 tackles, three TFL, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
LT Overton recruiting ranking
Coming out of high school, Overton was considered as the nation's No. 14 overall player in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 4 rated defensive lineman nationally. Rated as a five-star recruit, Overton was also considered the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia where he attended Milton High School.
Overton also came to Alabama as part of the Crimson Tide's 2024 transfer portal class where he was considered by 247Sports as the No. 30 overall player nationally that offseason. The defensive lineman, who committed to Alabama in Dec. 2023, was also rated a four-star transfer, as well as the No. 7 overall player at his position.
LT Overton 2025 season outlook
There are few names on the defensive side of the ball for Alabama this season who could more of an overall impact than Overton.
One of Alabama's returning leaders on defense, Overton enters the 2025 season cemented as the Crimson Tide's starter at "Bandit," which you could argue is certainly a loaded position group. Overton will also bring a significant amount of experience to that group, and should rank among Alabama's most productive players on the defensive line as a player who can help both rush the passer, as well as stop the run.
Overall, expect a career-year for Overton in 2025, and for the Alabama defensive lineman to receive All-SEC honors at seasons end.

Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Kevin Riley

Entering year two playing for his hometown team, could the 2025 season mark a breakout campaign for Alabama Crimson Tide running back Kevin Riley? A native of the Tuscaloosa area, Riley is coming off a true freshman season a year ago in which he did not see much action for the Crimson Tide. However, Riley came to Tuscaloosa as one of the highest-rated running backs in his recruiting class, and is a player who is certainly capable of emerging this season to potentially become a key contributor of Alabama's running back room. Here is a look at everything you need to know about Alabama running back Kevin Riley entering the 2025 season. Kevin Riley player information Position: Running Back Jersey Number: No. 28 Height: 5'11 Weight: 191 Class: Redshirt Freshman Hometown: Northport, Alabama High School: Tuscaloosa County Kevin Riley career stats Entering year two of college football, Riley is coming off a true freshman season in which he did not play much for the Crimson Tide. Kevin Riley 2024 stats As mentioned previously, Riley appeared in only two games during the 2024 season, which came against Western Kentucky and Mercer. Over that span, Riley rushed for 30 yards on 10 attempts, and caught two passes for nine yards. Kevin Riley recruiting ranking According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Riley came to Alabama considered as the nation's No. 75 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, as well as the No. 3 running back nationally. Riley, a four-star prospect who committed to Alabama in Dec. 2023 when he flipped from Miami, was also ranked the No. 7 player in the state of Alabama where he attended Tuscaloosa County High School. Kevin Riley 2025 season outlook When taking a look at Riley's potential impact this season, it is currently an unknown surrounding what the former four-star prospect's role might be. As to why, that is because Alabama's running back room returns two big names in starter Jam Miller and Richard Young, while also having added an experienced transfer in Dre Washington. However, Riley could also potentially emerge in that group as well, as the redshirt freshman could make an impact in multiple different ways from the running back position. Overall, expect Riley to improve on his season totals from a year ago, and to be a backup option at running back who could potentially emerge later in the season. Former Texas A&M RHP will transfer to Louisiana at Lafayette

Texas A&M lost several pitchers to the transfer portal and the 2025 MLB Draft this offseason, including the talented RHP Kyrin Leblanc, who was expected to be a crucial part of the 2025 bullpen but never saw time on the mound and is now headed to Louisiana. No, not LSU. According to his post on X, Leblanc, after just one season with the Aggies as a transfer from Cisco College, is headed to join the University of Louisiana Lafayette, as the Ragin Cajuns have gained one of the strongest arms in the country, as Leblanc has reportedly has reached speeds of 100 mph with his fastball multiple times in his career, but has notably struggled with control. If Leblanc can reel in his power, his future is very bright, and he will finally see the mound in 2026 after being buried on the depth chart. Pitchers of his caliber are rare, and while plenty of former quarterbacks and high school pitchers can throw in the upper 90s, control is the key to playing in college, and, of course, the MLB. While Leblanc could have stayed and developed with Texas A&M, his journey was not meant to continue in College Station, and that's just the nature of the transfer portal era. Texas A&M's 2026 pitching rotation will look completely revamped, as returning relievers Weston Moss and Shane Sdao are likely to start, paired with one of the new transfer additions.
