When a pet owner decided to bring home a new kitten to keep her lonely cat company, she never expected the emotional roller coaster that followed.
In a viral TikTok video shared on Sunday under the username @wallkittys, the adult cat, Morty, sits at a distance watching the new kitten play, with a miserable expression on his face. He doesn't engage in play at all, but just looks at him with sadness.
"I got my cat a cat but he looks sadder than ever," reads layover text in the clip. "I got him FOR YOU!" the poster continues in the caption.
But then, right when she thought she made the wrong decision, the unexpected happened.
In a video update shared on Thursday, the two felines can be seen cuddling, playing together, and doing everything the poster was hoping for when she brought the still-nameless kitten home to her cat.
When your cat feels lonely and needs a companion to spend their days with, they will show signs, according to Pet MD.
These signs include excessive clinginess, changes in their eating and sleeping habits, unusually destructive behavior, litter-box issues, and a shift in overall energy.
If you decide to introduce a new cat into your home, it is important that you do it in a way that doesn't create animosity between them. Give your felines space at the start, keeping the new kitten in a separate room.
The cats' introduction should start with scent swapping, rubbing the kitten with a small cloth to collect scent, then letting your older cat smell it. Rewarding them for any positive or neutral response is crucial at this stage.
Once they are comfortable with the smell, you can introduce them face to face, strictly under your supervision. Do not let them interact alone until you are completely sure that they are happy with each other.

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 4.2 million views and more than 734,000 likes on the platform.
One user, Autumn, commented: "Give him some extra attention. he might think you're replacing him. we gave our cats extra attention when we got a kitten to cheer them up."
Syd wrote: "I was sad, now I'm depressed."
Alice added: "He probably thinks you are replacing him cause he was acting sad."
Newsweek reached out to @wallkittys for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case.

Cooked: Celebrated Chef exits new venture after allegedly balking at free food for influencer because she wasn't famous enough
A prominent San Francisco chef threw in the apron at his newly opened cafe after allegedly belittling a TikTok influencer during a tense exchange over her follower count aired out in a viral video. The incident unfolded Wednesday at Kis Cafe in Hayes Valley, when 'micro-influencer' @itskarlabb described how she had pre-arranged a collab with the restaurant's team and showed up early to film content, according to a video she posted to her platform. 3 Influencer @itskarlabb was allegedly belittled by top chef Luke Sung over her supposedly low follower count, leaving her running from his new California restaurant in tears. itskarlabb/tiktok The influencer, known as Karla, claimed that a man — later identified as celebrated James Beard Award-nominated chef and co-owner Luke Sung — questioned her 15,000-follower count and told staff it was a 'mistake' to invite an influencer so small. 'I know they're talking about me, because I can hear them saying 'TikTok, views, followers' ,' she said in a later video, which has racked up more than 20 million views. The influencer said that when she introduced herself, Sung grilled her over whether she had researched the restaurant, a wine bar serving small bites. She insisted she knew the menu and the vibe, but Sung disagreed and began scrolling through her TikTok feed at full volume within earshot, the influencer said. 'After scrolling like, two times, he says to me that he doesn't think my videos are at the level which he wants his restaurant represented,' she recalled. 'It seemed like he was insinuating that my followers would not be able to afford to eat at this restaurant.' 3 Sung couldn't take the heat after the pair's alleged exchange went viral and left his new venture. San Francisco Chronicle via Getty Images Sung then reportedly asked, 'Do you know who I am?' and told Karla he was a two-time James Beard Award finalist and that his daughter is Big Apple vlogger, Isa Sung, who has 600,000 TikTok followers. He also dismissed the influencer's cooking videos she posted to her platform, dissing them as 'homey,' Karla said. The belittling exchange left her in tears, she said. 'I told him I felt disrespected and didn't want to collaborate anymore,' the influencer said. Karla's follower count has since skyrocketed to more than 350,000 since she shared the story on TikTok. The influencer said she wants to 'be an advocate for micro influencers' who don't receive as many handouts. 'You don't need to have a million followers to be respected or feel like you're making a difference,' she said. 3 Kis Cafe, which opened in May, announced that Sung had left as chef and co-owner. FOX By Friday, Kis Cafe's was getting cooked on Yelp, where its rating plunged from four to five stars to just over two stars, and reviews for 'Isa '– a 'pioneering' Cal-French restaurant that Sung previously opened and named after his influencer daughter — grew with haters lambasting the chef for his behavior. Kis Cafe, which opened in May, soon announced that Sung had left as a chef and co-owner, later clarifying he had done so of his 'own accord' and was not technically fired. 'Our chef's behavior was unacceptable, and he is no longer a part of the team,' Kis Cafe wrote in an Instagram post Thursday. The restaurant said it has now temporarily closed to 'restructure.' 'We want to create a space that's welcoming and respectful to everyone. In this instance, we failed to do so,' Kis Cafe said in a statement.

Min Woo Lee Cooks Golf With Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner amid PGA Tour Break
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. After a grueling major season, golf professionals are finally catching their breath. Days ago, five-time major winner, Rory McIlroy, was spotted partying on a yacht in Saint-Tropez, with a champagne in hand. Now, another PGA Tour winner has stolen the spotlight with a different kind of celebration. The newest Texas Children's Houston Open champion, Min Woo Lee, who is currently enjoying his PGA Tour break, was spotted at a star-studded party in West Hollywood, Calif., on Thursday. But what made it special was Lee's cooking (golf swing) snaps alongside Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber. (Image Credits: @lilbieber/Instagram) Instagram The event, hosted by Spotify in collaboration with Bieber's newly launched fashion label Skylrk, doubled as a listening party for his surprise album Swag. The album, released on July 11, is Bieber's first studio drop in four years. Interestingly, the pictures shared by the 31-year-old pop singer on Saturday also captured Kendall Jenner dressed in all black, swinging a club barefoot. Lee, who's earned the nickname "Chef" for his flair both on and off the course, later commented on Justin's typing, "The Best." The PGA Tour pro's appearance at Bieber's party wasn't just a one-off. Lee and the pop star icon struck up a friendship earlier this year. It went viral after the Aussie golfer snagged his Houston Open title, where he held off Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland to clinch his first PGA Tour title with a final score of 20-under. The 'Sorry' singer FaceTimed Lee after the victory and posted a congratulatory message on Instagram. The 'Chef' later reposted it on his own Instagram story, captioning it, "J frickin B." In an interview with the PGA Australia, Lee also shared how both of them are fanboys of each other. "The thing is he (Justin Bieber) fanboys kind of over me, but obviously I'm fanboying over him," Lee told the Australian media four months ago. The 27-year-old also revealed how Bieber would share videos of his swing, and he would critique it. The recent snaps reveal how fast their relationship has grown from there. See the Destiny's Child Reunion at Beyoncé's Final Cowboy Carter Show
THE RUNDOWN On Saturday night, Beyoncé thrilled fans on her final Cowboy Carter tour stop when she invited Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams on stage to reunite Destiny's Child for the first time in seven years. Fans shared footage from the moment on TikTok, which shows Beyoncé welcoming her colleagues to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as their song 'Independent Women' played. The Renaissance singer called out, 'Destiny's Child, bitch!' The famous trio performed a medley that included 'Lose My Breath,' 'Say My Name,' and 'Soldier.' Rowland and Williams also joined Beyoncé for her 2022 song 'Energy,' finishing with her famous 'mute challenge.' As it finished, Beyoncé sang, 'Look around, it's me and my crew. Big energy!' The reunion ended with the massive 2001 hit 'Bootylicious,' before Beyoncé hugged Williams and Rowland and then waved them offstage, telling the crowd, 'Give it up for Destiny's Child!' Beyoncé welcomed a few other guests for her final Cowboy Carter tour stop, including her husband, Jay-Z, and country music star Shaboozey. She and Destiny's Child were last seen together when Beyoncé headlined Coachella in April 2018. The star shared a picture with her friends on stage from the night in which they're all wearing variations on a gold ensemble, including fringed and shimmering gold chaps. In the image, Beyoncé is smiling widely as Williams leans in to give her a kiss on the cheek and they have their arms around one another. The group rose to prominence in the 1990s and originally had four members: Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett. The group transformed into the better known trio including Williams, but then disbanded in 2006. They have remained supportive friends and fans have been hoping to see them reunite for years.
