Honor Magic8 series to include a Mini

GSM Arena23-05-2025

Honor is currently working on the Magic8 series of devices, and a new rumor out of China tells us to expect three phones to be part of it: the Magic8, the Magic8 Pro, and the Magic8 Mini.
The Mini will have a 6.3-inch screen and will be powered by MediaTek's upcoming Dimensity 9500 SoC, the Magic8 will get a 6.58-inch display and will go with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, as will the Pro model with a 6.7" screen. Honor Magic7 Pro
It's unclear if a Magic8 Lite will join these three, at least at the moment. The Magic7 and Magic7 Pro were both announced at the end of October and were released in November, but with Qualcomm announcing the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in late September, the timeline for the Magic8 may shift and we could see the Magic8, Magic8 Pro, and Magic8 Mini becoming official in early October and be released later in the month.
As previously rumored, the Magic8's screen will shrink from the Magic7's 6.78" panel, and the Magic8 Pro's will also be ever so slightly smaller than its predecessor's 6.8" display. According to a past rumor, the Magic8 Pro will have a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide, and a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera. Honor Magic7 Pro

OnePlus Nord CE5 in for review

Today we are taking a look at the new OnePlus Nord CE5, the second phone launching next week alongside the Nord 5. We have already taken a look at the Nord 5 in a separate post and now it's time to unbox the Nord CE5. For those unaware, the Nord series goes Nord > Nord CE > Nord CE Lite, making the Nord CE5 the younger sibling of the Nord 5 in features, performance, and pricing. The Nord CE5 comes in a packaging that is nearly identical to that of the Nord 5. It was actually quite easy to mix up the two boxes while taking these pictures since the actual name of the phone is only printed on the side and the back, while the front has the same basic Nord logo printed thrice, in case you miss it the first two times. Inside, once again, we find a very similar setup to that of the Nord 5 packaging. You get the phone along with the same 80W fast charger and USB cable. There is also a color-matched case in blue. The color, called Nexus Blue, is a striking shade of blue that is bordering on violet. This color does not do any tricks with light and textures but its simplicity is still quite fetching. The materials used here aren't anything fancy; you are looking at a plastic frame and a plastic back, but both have a pleasing texture that make them feel nice in hand. The Nord CE5 runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex chipset with LPDDR5X memory. The phone features a massive 7100mAh battery, which OnePlus claims charges in just 59 minutes with the provided 80W charger. On the back is a 50MP Sony LYT-600 camera with OIS and 4K 60fps HDR video recording. More details will be revealed next week as the Nord CE5 launches alongside the Nord 5. Check back later for our full review on both devices.

Here are a bunch of official reasons to be excited about the upcoming OnePlus Nord CE5 mid-ranger

While we've known for a couple of weeks now that OnePlus is gearing up to unveil no less than five different products this month and one of the two new phones slated for a July 8 launch has quickly revealed many of its core secrets and key selling points, the other 2025 addition to the Nord family remains significantly more cryptic. Or rather that was the case until today, as the Nord CE5 now has a wealth of official information attached to its name. Teased on social media as a "max" performer with a "big-time" battery under its hood, the fast-approaching mid-end handset is confirmed by a company executive in an exclusive talk with Tom's Guide to pack a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex processor. This is a pretty fly chipset for a budget-friendly mid-ranger. | Image Credit -- OnePlus That sounds like an improved version of the existing Dimensity 8350 SoC found inside such impressively powerful mid-rangers as the Motorola Edge 60 Pro, Oppo Reno 13 Pro, and Realme P3 Ultra, so the company rep's claim that the Nord CE5 will offer "significant performance improvements" over other phones in its price category is unlikely to prove exaggerated in any way. Keep in mind that the Nord CE4 is priced at the rough equivalent of $270 and up in India, which obviously means that its sequel is likely to be similarly affordable. Of course, the ultra-low-cost smartphone will have other stuff going for it than just above-average raw power, with that "big-time" battery confirmed to sit at 5,200mAh capacity and support 80W charging technology to go from 0 to 100 percent juice in under 60 minutes. Curiously enough, those otherwise remarkable numbers might mark a downgrade from the 5,500mAh battery capable of charging at 100W speeds inside last year's OnePlus Nord CE4. The Nord CE5 looks good in black and amazing in Marble Mist. | Image Credit -- OnePlus" That may have been a necessary compromise for the Nord CE5 to adopt an unusually high-quality 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor equipped with optical image stabilization for its primary rear-facing camera, not to mention a gloriously stylish design (for a budget 5G phone) with Black Infinity and Marble Mist color options. The latter is described as "really something else", with an "almost sandy design with marble highlights once the light hits it." Unfortunately, the odds of seeing this undeniably gorgeous device officially released in the US are slim to nonexistent, and alas, the same actually goes for the higher-end and even prettier OnePlus Nord 5 as well. OnePlus Nord 5 in for review

Today we have with us the new OnePlus Nord 5, which is the latest mainline entry in the company's affordable series of smartphones. The phone is set to launch next week alongside the Nord CE5 and today we can share a sneak peek at the device with an unboxing. Starting with the packaging, the Nord 5 comes in a typical blue box that we have come to expect from Nord devices. Also typical for a Nord box is the fact that there is no mention of the exact model number on the front, which makes it look identical to other Nord boxes until you turn them around. Inside the box you will find the phone, an 80W fast charger, and a USB cable for data and charging. OnePlus also includes a silicone case in dark gray. Our review unit comes in the Marble Sands finish, which features light champagne gold frame and a glass back. The back panel has a very interesting pattern etched into it that invokes the creases and bumps in the surface of marble and almost looks three-dimensional with the way it plays with light. It's a fantastic look that proved to be very challenging to capture on camera and has to be seen in person to be properly appreciated. However, while the back of the phone is this very exotic glass, the frame is made out of plastic. This feels like a downgrade from Nord 4, which was made out of a single, solid slab of aluminum and felt very premium. You may have also noticed that the Nord 5 has a vertical camera arrangement on the back. The Nord 4 used a horizontal layout but the Nord 5 reverts to the vertical layout that all other Nord phones have used over the years. The Nord 5 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, making it the first Nord phone to have a flagship-grade chip. It also features a 50MP Sony LYT-700 camera with OIS on the back and a 50MP camera Samsung JN5 camera with autofocus on the front. The display also supports up to 144Hz refresh rate in games like BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile. More details on the device will be revealed when it launches next week on July 8. Stay tuned for our full review.
