
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi expands in Pakistan with more flights to Multan, Faisalabad
The increase in capacity further strengthens air connectivity between the UAE and Pakistan, reinforcing the airline's commitment to offering affordable, reliable, and convenient travel options to its growing customer base.
Flights to Multan have increased from two to five flights per week and will operate daily starting September. Meanwhile, services to Faisalabad have doubled from two to four weekly flights, offering passengers greater convenience and more flexible travel options.

The increased frequencies to Multan and Faisalabad reflect our commitment to meeting the growing demand for affordable and reliable air travel between the UAE and Pakistan, while providing our customers with greater convenience and enhanced connectivity."
In addition to the frequency increases, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi recently launched a new direct route to Sialkot, further expanding its footprint across Pakistan and catering to the growing demand for affordable air travel between the two countries.
As part of its broader growth strategy, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi plans to add two more aircraft to its fleet before the end of the year, enhancing its operational capacity and supporting the launch of new routes as it continues to grow its network across key markets.
Customers can now book their flights by visiting Air Arabia's website, calling the contact center, or through preferred travel agencies.

Parkin to introduce nearly 30,000 new paid parking spaces in Dubai communities
Dubai's public parking operator is to roll out 29,600 new paid parking spaces in a number of communities thanks to a partnership with one of the emirate's leading investment companies. In a major expansion of its network, Parkin has joined forces with Dubai Holding, a government-owned conglomerate that includes major real estate developers Nakheel, Meydan and Dubai Properties in its portfolio. Under the partnership, Parkin will manage parking operations – including enforcement action – in a number of designated areas. Parkin said there would be a phased introduction of the scheme. It does not give a specific start date for the initiative but stated that it would have 'a moderate impact on operational income from mid-Q3 2025'. Parkin did not reveal the residential communities where paid parking operations would be activated. The National has contacted the company for further comment. Dubai Holdings has delivered more than 106,000 residential units and land plots in busy areas such as Palm Jumeirah and Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR). Parkin said the new paid parking zones were being introduced in response to increasing pressure on parking availability. The partnership aims to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and enhance the day-to-day mobility experience for residents and visitors, the parking operator added. The agreement will more than double the number of paid parking spaces in privately developed communities operated by Parkin, reaching about 50,400. 'This strategic partnership with Dubai Holding strengthens our presence in the private developer parking segment, enabling us to extend our market-leading parking solutions across key communities in the emirate, while delivering integrated urban mobility experiences that enhance our customers' quality of life,' said Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali chief executive of Parkin. What is Parkin? Parkin was set up in January 2024 by the Dubai government to manage the emirate's parking infrastructure. Parkin manages more than 200,000 paid parking spaces across Dubai, including public parking and public multistorey car parks, as well as some privately owned parking spaces under long-term contracts. In April, Parkin set out new variable fees for parking in Dubai, including peak pricing for six of the 14 chargeable hours each day, from 8am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm. Sundays and public holidays are excluded. The company's other revenue streams include the enforcement and issuance of seasonal permits, parking reservations and other commercial activities. Its revenue jumped by nearly a third in February because of a major increase in the number of fines issued in the final three months of 2024. Parkin said it imposed about 509,000 fines in the final quarter of 2024, up 60 per cent on the 317,400 fines handed out in the last three months of 2023. The amount levied in fines rose to Dh77 million in the final quarter of 2024, up from Dh44.8 million in the last three months in 2023. The increase was partly the result of 'technology-based improvements to our enforcement framework', the company said. A vital aspect of this are the smart scan inspection cars run by Parkin, which operates more than 90 per cent of Dubai's on and off-street paid parking, in public areas and in car parks owned by developers. Parkin is to also manage about 2,100 parking spaces across 59 sites at Dubai's mosques, it was announced last week. One hour of parking during prayer time will be free of charge, Dubai Media Office reported. 'Operational roll-out is targeted to commence in August 2025,' the media office said on X.

UAE residents can soon trek through the desert with camels; here's how

Active Abu Dhabi has launched a new initiative called Misrah, in which 100 participants will complete a 1,000 km heritage journey across the nation, on foot and using traditional modes of transportation. The trek promises to be a challenging but rewarding way to immerse yourself in Emirati culture and heritage, while learning new skills and exploring the country. Training sessions This exciting opportunity unfolds over two phases: a training phase and then the actual trek. The first phase will see 500 participants selected from a pool of applicants. If you are part of this group, you will be trained on the fundamentals of camel riding, Emirati traditional crafts, and folk arts. The training modules are designed to immerse participants in authentic Emirati heritage. You will get to directly interact and care for camels, while learning about camel anatomy, how to assemble camel saddles, and how to use traditional tools such as water bags and saddle straps. Workshops on Emirati folk arts such as traditional performances, the art of welcoming guests, traditional campfire gathering, Emirati coffee preparation, and oral storytelling and folktales will be held during this phase. At the end of this phase, 100 participants will be chosen to advance to the second stage: the 1,000 km heritage trek across the UAE desert over 30 days. Who can participate? Misrah is open to UAE citizens and residents of all nationalities aged 18 to 25. It is set to officially launch on August 21, 2025. Gulf banks post robust loan growth in Q2 amid easing regional rates
The largest banks in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region reported stronger loan growth in the second quarter of 2025 compared to a year ago, supported by lower regional interest rates and improved economic sentiment. Al Rajhi Banking & Investment Corp., based in Saudi Arabia, recorded the sharpest loan growth among the top five GCC lenders, with year-on-year expansion rising to 19.31 per cent, up from 7.37 per cent a year earlier. Saudi National Bank followed with loan growth accelerating to 12.21 per cent from 10.25 per cent in the same period last year. In the UAE, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), the country's largest lender, saw loan growth climb to 10.71 per cent, compared to 6.34 per cent a year earlier. FAB also raised its full-year loan growth forecast to the low double digits, up from a previous single-digit outlook. Emirates NBD Bank similarly revised its loan growth forecast to the low double digits after reporting a 14.28 per cent increase in Q2. Qatar National Bank (QNB) posted loan growth of 9.38 per cent in Q2 and raised its guidance to 7 per cent–9 per cent, up from 5 per cent–7 per cent previously. 'Almost half of the growth came from Turkey,' said Durraiz Khan, senior vice president for group financial consolidation, during a July 14 earnings call. According to a July 10 outlook report by S&P Global Ratings, loan growth in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE is expected to remain strong through the second half of 2025, in line with anticipated rate cuts from the US Federal Reserve, which the GCC nations are likely to mirror. The increase in lending activity also lifted net interest income (NII) across most major banks. Read: QNB's NII rose to $2.34bn from $2.12bn a year earlier, despite margin pressures from its Turkish operations. 'Deposits in Turkey reprice faster than loans,' said Khan, adding that QNB expects its net interest margin (NIM) to improve if Turkey lowers rates later this year. Emirates NBD, which operates in Turkey through its subsidiary DenizBank AS, reported a 22-basis-point decline in its Q2 NIM to 3.36 per cent. However, the bank expects its full-year margin to range between 3.3 per cent and 3.5 per cent, supported by a potential recovery in DenizBank's profitability. NII for the quarter reached approximately $2.28bn, marking a 6 per cent year-on-year increase. According to Fitch Ratings, GCC banks with Turkish exposure may benefit from reduced net monetary losses if inflation in Turkey continues to ease. Al Rajhi Bank led the peer group in NII performance, reporting a 25 per cent year-on-year increase to $1.95bn. Higher net financing, investment income, and banking services fees helped lift its Q2 net profit to $1.64bn, a 31 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
