Following an announcement on social media Friday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide have now reportedly landed a commitment from left-handed pitcher Ashton Crowther.
Crowther, who previously entered the NCAA transfer portal back in June, comes to Alabama from within the SEC at South Carolina.
This past season, Crowther made a total of 19 appearances for the Gamecocks, two of which were starts. Over that span, the left-hander owned a 2-2 record with a 4.38 ERA and a 28:10 K:BB ratio across 37 innings pitched, while also collecting one save.
Prior to the 2024 season, Crowther originally began his collegiate career in the ACC at Miami where he spent two seasons with the Hurricanes. Crowther will be entering his redshirt junior season in 2025.

Former Oregon Duck Nikko Reed makes big-time INT in Hall of Fame Game

Football finally returned on Thursday night following a five-month long hiatus as the Los Angeles Chargers took on the Detroit Lions in the NFL's annual Hall of Fame Game. Not many starters participate in the preseason in today's league, so the matchups typically consist of young guys and players on the fringes of the roster attempting to carve out a career. This is the case for former Oregon Ducks cornerback Nikko Reed, who has reportedly been one of the biggest bright spots in Chargers training camp. He signed with Los Angeles after going undrafted this year, but he isn't letting that label hold him back or define him. Reed intercepted a pass in the first quarter during the contest against the Lions and returned it 60 yards, coming just five yards short of a score. Some defensive backs are pure gamblers, either giving up big plays or adding to their own highlight reel. This is not the case with Reed. In 13 total coverage snaps against Detroit, the former Ducks star didn't allow a single catch. He also recorded three tackles and a pass breakup to go along with his pick. According to reports from a variety of Chargers reporters, Reed has impressed all summer and has a great shot to make the team. Auburn's Alex McPherson named to Lou Groza Award watch list

Alex McPherson is receiving national attention ahead of his "comeback" season. Preseason award watch season is upon us, and one Auburn Tiger is on the radar. Alex McPherson is set to return to the field full-time after an illness sidelined him for most of the 2024 season. He has caught the attention of the Palm Beach Sports Commission as he is one of 30 kickers included on the Lou Groza Award watch list that was released Friday afternoon. McPherson was 49-of-49 on extra points and was 19-of-20 on field goals with a long of 53 yards as a freshman and sophomore during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. In one game last season, he connected on all three extra point attempts while going 1-for-2 on field goals in Auburn's win at Kentucky in October. He has worked to regain strength and is poised to make a strong comeback in 2025. 'It gives me some confidence that my body can hold up, that I can trust it and not have to worry about it every step of the way like I had to last year,' McPherson said in an interview with Jeff Shearer of 'I think this is definitely one of the strongest groups in the country. We have three really strong kickers, we've got three strong punters. This group is definitely special and it's going to be something to look out for this year.' USC's Caden Chittenden, Georgia's Payton Woodring, and UAB's Jonah Delange join McPherson on the Groza watch list this season. The winner will be announced on Dec. 8. Colorado's Jordan Seaton named to prestigious Outland Trophy watchlist

Colorado Buffaloes star left tackle Jordan Seaton was named to the Outland Trophy watchlist, given to the best interior lineman in college football. There are also 15 guards and 10 defensive tackles named to the list. As a freshman All-American last season, Seaton enters 2025 as one of the Buffs' best players and a leader. He was also an honorable mention All-Big 12 and the honorable mention Big 12 Freshman of the Year by the coaches. In 2024, Seaton became the first true freshman to start a season opener at tackle in program history and went on to start all 13 games. He allowed three sacks on 611 pass plays and did not allow a sack in 11 of Colorado's 13 games.
