Dick Van Dyke on 46-year age gap with wife Arlene Silver: 'Eerie how well it works'
After 13 years of marriage, Dick Van Dyke and wife Arlene Silver, find that they still "get along so well."
The 99-year-old "Dick Van Dyke Show" actor, who turns 100 in December, and 53-year-old singer Silver gushed about their love and why their age gap works in an interview with People magazine.
"Everybody said it wouldn't work," the "Mary Poppins" actor told the outlet on April 20 at their second Vandy Camp event in Malibu, which raised money for wildfire relief efforts.
"Yeah, I mean, it's like eerie how well it works. People the same age don't last," Silver told People. "We just care about each other so much."
Van Dyke and Silver reportedly met at the 2006 Screen Actors Guild Awards, where she was working as a makeup artist, and the two started a romantic relationship in 2009 after his partner of more than 30 years, Michelle Triola, died following a battle with lung cancer.
"I never said hello to a strange girl in my life. I was too scared," Van Dyke said of their first meeting. "But I was at a show backstage and she walked by, and for some reason, I just jumped up and said, 'Hi, I'm Dick.'"
"He's made me feel like I can do anything," Silver said. Van Dyke responded, "And you can."
Silver previously revealed in a 2013 interview with People that she didn't immediately know who her future husband was when they met.
"I knew him; I just didn't know how I knew him," she said. "I like that I knew him as a man before I knew him as a performer."
Van Dyke recalled that after Triola's death, "Arlene would come by after work and bring me food." He added, "She was such a support, I fell in love."
Dick Van Dyke gets brutally honest: He 'fortunately' won't be around for Trump's second presidency
In a 2023 interview, Van Dyke revealed some of his secrets to longevity in an interview with Yahoo! and joked that Silver's youth was an important factor.
"Genes, I guess, for one thing. Having a beautiful young wife half my age to take care of me — that works! My positive attitude, I get that from my wife," he said. "I still go to the gym three days a week and work out. And I advise everybody to do that, because that's what ages people — it's just a stiffening up and not exercising their muscles and their lungs. Exercise is the answer."

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." Michael Bublé is slated to be a coach for the third time in a row on The Voice season 28. Ahead of the premiere, Michael announced he's re-releasing his 2005 album It's Time to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The new album will also feature new songs, bonus tunes and live recordings. Michael Bublé is taking a walk down memory lane... but he's doing it with a twist. The singer is slated to be a coach for the third time in a row on The Voice season 28, but he has other news to share before the fall television premiere. He revealed on Instagram his plans to re-release his hit 2005 album It's Time, as a way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its original debut. But that's not all. Not only is the album expected to drop on September 12, 2025, It's Time will also feature new songs, bonus tunes and live recordings Michael did back in the day. "Michael celebrates the 20th Anniversary of his multiplatinum album, It's Time with the release of a 25-track Deluxe Edition featuring two previously unreleased songs, newly remastered bonus tracks and live recordings," the caption read on July 25. "Out September 12th! Pre-order and pre-save now at the link in bio, where you can also listen to the new song 'Just Like You.'" Given how much The Voice fans enjoy Michael's music, seeing this piece of information had them over the moon with joy for him online. "'It's Time' is a timeless masterpiece ❤️🥹," one person wrote in the comments. "😮 Stop it!? 20th Anniversary!?!? 👏👏," another exclaimed. "Oh my Goodness, this is awesome. Congratulations Michael ❤️❤️🔥🔥," a different follower added. As some may remember, It's Time featured some of Michael's most famous musical hits he recorded. With tunes like "Feeling Good," "Try a Little Tenderness" and "Save the Last Dance for Me" featured, perhaps the most recognizable song on the album is "Home" (which OG Voice coach later recorded a cover of in 2008). We're super stoked about this, and we can't wait to see if there's even more music from Michael in our futures! Gabriel Iglesias, Who Paid $100K for His Dog's Quinceañera, Welcomes New Pup After Losing Two Pets

Comedian Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias is known for his devotion to his pets, and now he has a new pup to spoil. This year, Iglesias welcomed a teacup Chihuahua, Roka, to his family. The tiny black dog arrived at a sensitive time. Iglesias recently mourned the loss of his two beloved Chihuahuas, Vinnie and Risa. Risa is likely known to many, especially fans of Iglesias, as the canine the comedian treated to a $100K quinceñera when the dog turned 15. She died in September 2024 at the age of 16. Unfortunately, Risa and Vinnie developed health problems around the same time, which made their close-together losses difficult on their devoted dog dad. "While finding out that Risa had serious kidney issues, we discovered that Vinnie also had his own health issues. It was months of going back and forth to the ER before they both unfortunately passed away. I was grateful to have them for as many years as I did. The last eight years, they literally became my road dogs. They toured with me everywhere, visiting 40+ states," Iglesias tells PEOPLE of the impact of his late pets. Initially, the plan was to welcome a new pup to his pack before Vinnie and Risa died, but the timing didn't work out. "I have had a Chihuahua in my life since I was 12 years old. At times, I have had more than one Chihuahua at a time. Bringing a new dog into the mix is something I have done in the past. I knew, based on my dogs' ages and health issues, that I needed to do this sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, Roka arrived after losing both Risa and Vinnie," he explains. Iglesias is happy Roka is here now. Her youthful energy and love have been a balm for the star as he continues to grieve Vinnie and Risa. "The amount of energy a puppy has compared to a senior dog is night and day. It reminds me that I'm not getting any younger," Igelsias shares. "All she wants to do is play, explore, and chew on things. She has more toys than I ever had as a child. All of her puppy energy does not allow for being sad, as I am too out of breath from chasing her." Roka has been a rock for Iglesias this summer and has stepped in as the comedian's go-to travel companion. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. "Roka has already been to 15 states and two countries. The goal is to hit all 50 states," the pet parent shares. "She is sweet and loving with a select few. Full of energy and bark! Curious and playful! And has me wrapped around her paw!" Iglesias adds. Read the original article on People

Where Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson have been hiding as romance blossoms

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson have kept their blossoming romance under wraps by spending time at the model's house in Canada, according to a new report. 'Pam cooks and gardens at home. It's wholesome and appealing and very un-Hollywood, and Liam loves that,' a source told the Daily Mail Wednesday, adding that Neeson 'actually gets involved' in Anderson's daily activities. While the outlet claimed that the two have been dating 'for a while,' People reported that their 'budding romance' is still 'in the early stages.' Regardless, 'sparks' are said to have flown when they filmed their 'Naked Gun' movie together in Atlanta last spring. 'Pam is very drawn to Liam because he is totally open to her way of thinking and living … especially her approach to fame, which is impressive,' the Daily Mail's source said. 'She has been telling friends he is smitten and does a lot of sweet things for her, like sending her flowers and spending time with her sons and dogs.' An insider told Page Six earlier Wednesday that 'getting close to him has been on her mind since she was cast' in the action-comedy, noting that 'she has always found him attractive and interesting.' And although the public is eager to know the exact status of their relationship, we're told the co-stars are 'figuring things out along the way.' Neeson, 73, revealed in October 2024 that he was 'madly in love' with Anderson, 58, calling her 'terrific to work with.' 'I can't compliment her enough, I'll be honest with you,' he gushed to People at the time, adding that the actress was 'funny' and had 'no huge ego.' Anderson returned the favor by calling the actor 'the perfect gentleman' who 'brings out the best in you … with respect, kindness and depth of experience.' The 'Baywatch' star also admitted to their instant 'chemistry' in a May interview with 'Entertainment Weekly.' Then last week, while promoting their film in London, Anderson kissed the 'Schindler's List' star on the cheek on the red carpet. The pair later brought their respective sons to the New York City premiere, where they posed for pictures together as one, big, happy family. While they acknowledged their flirtatious rapport on a 'Today' show appearance earlier this week, Anderson and Neeson insisted on playing coy about their real-life relationship.
