From the Archive: 1982 Singing Valentines at SMS
On this week 42 years ago, KOLR covered a group of students at SMS (now Missouri State) who raised money for charity by putting in a call to someone's Valentine.
Here's the report from Woods House on the SMS campus with KOLR's Terry Moore:
'Valentine's Day is Sunday and even now Cupid's Bow is being tested in many a candy, card, and flower shop, maybe even an occasional jewelry store. And added to the more traditional ways of expressing one's love is a developing local tradition, the singing Valentine.
'We'd like to sing this Valentine, it's sent to you by Chris.'
This chorus of co-eds is gathered around the pool on the seventh floor of Woods House, a women's dormitory at SMS as a part of the fourth Android, singing Valentine's Project, a money raiser in the name of charity, and a lot of fun for those with both ends of a telephone.
'Well we have a sweetheart song and a friendship song. We're a little better on the friendship song but we've learned both and we've delivered because the people who call and order have designated ahead of time which they want and some of them ask for samples in advance so that they know what's going to be representing them over the phone or the person they love.'
'We'd like to sing this Valentine, it's sent to you by Chris,to wish you all the very best and a happy, happy day.His roses, cards, and chocolates too, makes his day so sweet.He's filled with love and lots of cheer to last throughout the year.'
That's our Valentine to you but there are still more to deliver.

However, the radio silence is no surprise given how the former couple has always been tight-lipped about their romance. In fact, they have never addressed how Chris—who shares kids Apple Martin, 21, and Moses Martin, 19, with ex —popped the question several years ago. And keeping their love life out of the spotlight was an intentional choice by the couple, who each have intense work schedules. 'We've been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes," Dakota told Elle in December 2021. "But we both work so much that it's nice to be at home and be cozy and private." Demi Lovato and Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes are honeymooning in tropical paradise. In an Instagram post shared Monday (June 16), the singer gave fans a look inside their post-wedding vacation. One photo shows the couple kissing while enjoying dinner on the beach, while other snaps find them smooching with bright turquoise water filling up the background behind them. The honeymoon update comes a few weeks after the pop star and Jutes tied the knot in California in late May. Lovato has shared a number of photos from the ceremony, including many of the gorgeous Vivienne Westwood gown they walked down the aisle in. Lovato and Jutes first made their relationship Instagram official in 2022 before getting engaged in 2023. 'My love, I'm beyond excited to marry you … every day I've spent with you has been a dream come true and I can't wait to love and cherish you forever,' the former Disney Channel star wrote at the time. Lovato echoed those thoughts in February this year while sharing snaps from an Old Hollywood-themed Valentine's Day photoshoot the couple did. 'Jordan, I cannot WAIT to marry you!!' she wrote at the time. 'The past 3 years have been the best 3 years of my life and I have you to thank for that. I'm obsessed with your heart, your love and your light. I can't wait to grow old with you and start a family together. Happy Valentine's Day to the love of my life. I love you honey!!!' In addition to being life partners, Lovato and Jutes are also collaborators. The latter helped to write multiple songs on his now-wife's 2022 album Holy Fvck, which reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200. Who Is Melissa Benoist's Husband, Chris Wood?
Attention everyone who is obsessed with Netflix's new fishery / drug ring drama (it's a genre, okay?) The Waterfront, and is now feeling extremely nosy about the real-life love lives of the cast. Saaame. On that note, we're here to obsess over Melissa Benoist's relationship with her husband Chris Wood, mostly because they are very cute but also pretty low-key. So yes, a deep dive is needed.
