Scotland's most dreamy woodland escapes - from cabins to treehouses
There is something gloriously whimsical about staying in treehouse-style accommodation, a joyous juncture where Famous Five-esque adventures meet lashings (in the purest sense) of grown-up luxury.
The Treehouses at Lanrick are beautifully crafted timber lodges on lofty stilts, named after woodland birds: willow warbler, flycatcher, pipit, treecreeper and nuthatch.
They boast an impressive list of amenities, including an outdoor copper bath and electric barbecue, as well as treetop terraces that provide a perfect perch to sit back and soak up the surrounding scenery.
There are picturesque walking routes and picnic spots in the vicinity, with the area also excellent – as the treehouse names suggest – for birdwatching.

Dreamcatcher Cabins, Gartmore, Stirlingshire
This quintet of eco cabins – Hedgehog's Hideaway, Squirrel's Drey, Fox's Lair, Jay's Nest and Badger's Sett – sit nestled within the trees, offering a private retreat surrounded by nature.
Designed to leave as small a carbon footprint as possible, there is solar lighting, fairy lights and candles, but no electrical sockets, with the idea to 'unplug' from the outside world and relax in tranquil surroundings.

The cabins come with outdoor baths where, depending on the time of day, you may hear the chirp of blackbird song or hooting owls as you take a dip.
Woodlands Glencoe, Ballachulish, Lochaber
A series of swish pods – billed as 'magical micro cabins' – are dotted along an idyllic, tree-lined riverside, each with a deck and hot tub.
They may look diminutive from the outside, but these stylish digs pack a lot into a tiny space. According to the owners, the goal with their RiverBeds Luxury Wee Lodges, which sleep two, was 'to create a castle inside a cabin.'
All contain a bedroom, kitchenette and en-suite shower room. The myriad creature comforts include Egyptian cotton sheets, a coffee machine, TV, designer toaster and mini fridge. Breakfast is brought to your door: warm croissants, bread and home-made granola.
Depending on which part of the leafy and verdant site you stay, there is a different feel. Does your vibe fall under 'fairytale fanatics, riverside romancers and daydreamers' or 'solitude, stargazers and sun worshippers'?
Punch Tree Cabins, near Rosebank, Lanarkshire
A hideaway in the heart of the Clyde Valley, there are two abodes to choose from – Copper Beech Cabin and Punch Tree Lodge – with amenities such as a firepit, barbecue and either a hot tub or outdoor bath.
We're talking twinkly lights and cosy nooks to blissfully curl up in. Oh, and with Mauldslie Wood right on your doorstep, there are big trees galore ranging from the majesty of giant sequoias, aka redwoods, to towering hemlock firs, an enormous copper beech and English yews.

The land here is steeped in history, formerly belonging to the estate of the now-demolished Mauldslie Castle. Over the centuries, the nearby woods were variously used as a royal hunting forest and orchard. They are now part of the Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve.

BBC gameshow already has fans obsessed and declaring it 'the new Traitors'
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video The BBC has launched Destination X, a brand new travel game show helmed by Rob Brydon that already has fans hooked. Touted as the 'adventure of a lifetime', the high-stakes competition has a lucrative jackpot of £100,000 for the contestants who can answer the all-important question – 'when in the world am I?' The Gavin and Stacey star hosts this new reality format as 13 contestants are piled onto a bus with blacked out windows and fed clues to figure out exactly where they are. At the end of each episode, the player who has the furthest guess is eliminated, meaning your Year 8 geography lessons may finally come in handy! The BBC has a strong track record for compelling reality TV with shows like The Traitors and Race Across the World (both of which have been compared to this new one), drawing in millions of loyal viewers. Now it looks as though Destination X is set to join their ilk. The first episode aired on BBC One yesterday, with the first two on BBC iPlayer for the audience's viewing pleasure. Want to get all the latest news and predictions for the best and most dramatic show this new year? Join our The Traitors WhatsApp channel for live episode coverage, behind-the-scenes gossip and a place to recover from all the cliffhangers. Simply click on this link, select 'Join Chat' and you're in! Don't forget to turn on notifications! The show has already made quite the impression on viewers who have become just as invested in the journey through Europe as our contestants who must mark X on the map (and hope for the best). 'Destination X is brilliant, right up my street,' Lee Scott wrote on X. 'Omg I'm absolutely hooked… flipping brilliant program,' Miriam agreed. 'OBSESSED!!! Well done BBC, perfect show! Mix of Traitors and Race Across The World,' Callum Turner declared. Jeff Day called it an 'excellent opening episode' while youngy2mark shared it was 'fantastic TV… The new Traitors'. 'Confused. Addicted. And simultaneously finding a lot of the contestants quite attractive. Yep, Destination X is definitely the new The Traitors,' Rory Cashin agreed. It's a sentiment echoed by the Gavin and Stacey host himself who said: 'I've never done a TV show on this scale before. 'I loved the idea of it, the combination of having to work out clues as to where you are and having to get on with each other. It struck me as the best bits of The Traitors with the best bits of Race Across the World.' Although not everyone was as captivated, with one fan, Christabel, calling it a 'bit too complicated and boring' and Pink Giraffe agreeing it was 'a bit of a slog'. Needless to say, expectations have been high — but have they been met? Not quite. At least not yet. I've seen the first three episodes, and while the start is rougher than an eight-hour delay at Euston in a heatwave – only to find you're stuck on a train with Nigel Farage – it does start to show signs of promise. The further down the road we go, the more promise the format shows. Tears are shed, stakes rise, the twists are meaty, there's a rug pull that's genuinely quite shocking, and by episode three, my interest had definitely piqued. Hopefully, enough viewers stay on board long enough to feel the same. You can read the full review here. As the entire show is a guessing game, the audience can even play along at home with the chance of winning the grandest prize of all – 'bragging rights about their geographical guessing skills.' The BBC has created a Destination X game site where you log in using your iPlayer account login. From there you can guess alongside the live episode of through catch up. Just like the real-life contestants can compete for hints, those playing at home will also be given the chance at two mini games which will unlock further clues to the coveted geographical location. 'One sees them test their knowledge of Europe across five travel trivia questions. The other shows users an image of a famous landmark, and asks you to locate it on a map,' the BBC's website explains. You can access the site here. Destination X airs every Wednesday and Thursday on BBC One at 9pm. The first two episodes are now available to stream on iPlayer. In total, the show (which also has a successful US version hosted by Jeffrey D Morgan) kicked off with 13 contestants. These include: 23-year-old Economics graduate Ashvin; surf school director Ben, 42; Historian Chloe-Anne, 27; retired detective sergeant Claire, 51; and taxi driver Darren, 52. Dawn, 33, is a care assistant who is hoping to win with her 'slightly sneaky side' while 62-year-old crime writer Deborah warns you have to have your 'wits about you'. More Trending The competition also features 23-year-old James, an e-commerce manager from Manchester and pilot Josh, 26, who is hoping to use the money to expand his flying skills. Judith, 27, is a nuclear engineer from Bristol and Madhi, 22, is a content creator from London hoping to try his luck at the game. Finally, we have endurance athlete Nick, 35, who is ready to 'stab people in the back' to get his hands on the cash and marketing executive Saskia, 25, who describes herself as a 'determined, dedicated and devoted'. View More » From the get-go there are plenty of twists and turns (literally) for our contestants to grapple with – will they all have the stomach to deal with it or will motion sickness (and the game) get the better of them as they trundle along? BBC's popular celebrity antiques show 'put on hold' after 15 years
The BBC have reportedly decided to pause a celebrity version of a popular antiques show after 15 years on air, with the show being 'rested' for the remainder of the year The BBC is rumoured to have discreetly put a fan-favourite show on hold after 15 years of broadcast. While the original programme will continue, its celebrity spin-off has reportedly been removed from the regular schedule. Celebrity Antiques Road Trip is thought to be on hiatus for the rest of the year. The show features two celebrities competing against each other as they traverse the country in search of hidden treasures to later auction off. The chosen celebrities are typically stars who are familiar with each other, or have previously worked together or competed against each other. Regrettably for viewers, the celebrity version of the show has now been put on hold. An insider told The Sun Online: "Celebrity Antiques Road Trip has proved a popular show for the BBC, but the focus right now is the original version of the show. A final decision hasn't been made on its future just yet, but it's definitely being rested for the remainder of the year and bosses will reassess in 2026." The BBC told the Mirror they were not commenting on the rumours at this time. Celebrity Antiques Road Trip first aired in 2011 as a spin-off to the much-loved staple programme Antiques Road Trip which debuted a year earlier, reports the Express. Narrated by Tim Wonnacott, the series gives two antiques experts a week's budget of £1,500 each to travel across the country - in a fabulous classic car - and purchase antiques and collectibles that are then sold at auction. Each star is teamed up with a specialist, and the celebrity pair are given a tight budget to hunt for hidden treasures. The victor is determined by who makes the most profit at an auction at the end of the episode. Famous faces that have graced the programme include Richard Osman with his current wife Ingrid Oliver, while Gemma Collins faced off against Melvin Odoom. Kelly Brook, Denise Van Outen and Danny Dyer, to mention a few.

All aboard! See Cape Town aboard South Africa's largest private yacht
What is The Mirage? The Mirage is a 76-foot luxury yacht, the brainchild of Mark Werhley and Tara Sharbonda. Designed specifically to handle Cape Town's famously unpredictable weather, it stands as South Africa's largest and safest private yacht. Or, as Tara perfectly put it, "The boat was built for Cape Town." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mirage Catamaran South Africa (@miragecatamaran) With two sleek, modern levels and uninterrupted 360-degree ocean views, The Mirage blends style and serenity. It's the kind of place where stress seems to evaporate, and you're left with nothing but the sound of waves and the rhythm of the city's soul. If you've ever dreamed of having your "I'm flying, Jack!" moment from Titanic, the Mirage's front netting offers the perfect spot to channel it. That said, I'll admit, when it came time to try it myself, fear got the better of me. Gourmet bites and expertly crafted cocktails The feeling of luxury sets in before you've even stepped aboard. As you make your way to the yacht, you're greeted by warm smiles, a chilled hand towel, and a perfectly balanced mimosa – setting the tone for what's to come. Once on board, guests can indulge in a range of dining options, whether it's fresh pizza, beautifully prepared sushi, or just about any cocktail you can imagine, thanks to the onboard mixologists who take their craft seriously. Chef Steve and his talented team at No Fixed Address Food Concept ensure an endless stream of exquisite canapés. Just when I thought I couldn't eat another thing and politely declined, Chef Steve would give me a look – a knowing glance that said, " you're about to miss out on greatness". And every time, he was right. From cauliflower poke bowls to melt-in-your-mouth beef tartare, everything was fresher than the ocean breeze swirling around us.
