Daizen Maeda in transfer hint amid Brentford swirl as Celtic face £6m price drop with three deals required
The 27-year-old was the standout performer for the Scottish Premiership champions last season netting 33 goals as Brendan Rodgers' claimed a domestic double.
That has seen the likes of Tottenham, Fenerbahce and West Ham touted with a move for the forward - and reports in Japan suggest The Bees' have joined the race.

Reports in Turkey stating Jose Mourinho's men were told stump up £21million for the star by Celtic - and that valuation is unlikely to have moved since.
But Maeda has already hinted this summer that he is in no rush to leave - and he has now talked up his Parkhead teammates in the latest clue he is focussed on life in Glasgow's east end.
The forward told KICK OFF! KANSAI: "There is one year left until the North-Central America World Cup: I want to make connections with Japanese national team players special.
"Like at Celtic, there were many scenes where I thought my teammate was coming but my timing with the passer was in sync. After three and a half years, my teammates understand me."
In terms of incoming players, Red Star Belgrade defender Veljko Milosavljevic is also said to be on the agenda - with Mozzart Sport claiming that the Serbian side are ready to drop their asking price.
It was claimed earlier this summer that Celtic representatives "offered" £5.1million for the 17-year-old, which was rejected.
It is now stated that while Red Star hope to receive €10million (£8.6million) for the player they could sell for €7million (£6million) with interest from earlier in the window cooling.
And while a new centre-back appears to be on the agenda, Gordon Strachan insists that a winger, striker and another midfielder are required by Rodgers this summer.
He told OLBG: 'Celtic have had wide attackers rather than wingers. People can score goals, get in the box, make goals, rather than just a winger who can cross the ball and things like that. So I think that's where they'll be going.
'Do they need another striker? Yes I think they do. They'll be looking at that as well. They'll be looking at a midfield player similar to Reo Hatate who can eliminate people in midfield.
'In the modern game, because the defenders are good, when people get back into zonal areas or go man for man, the fact is that you need somebody to eliminate people.
'Hatate could do that and so could Matt O'Riley. Matt O'Riley has been gone a year but they still need somebody who can do that as well.'
The comments come with the Hoops' on the lookout for a successor to Nicolas Kuhn - who has admitted he would love to play against his former club Celtic next week and introduce himself to Como in style.
The German winger completed a £17million move to the big-spending Serie A side last week and will be an important part of Cesc Fabregas' team.
One of his first matches could even be against the former club in pre-season as the Parkhead side prepare to jet into Italy for the Como Cup tournament.
Celtic face Ajax and Como entertain Al Ahli and there's a chance Kuhn could face his old teammates in either the final or the third and fourth place play-off.
And he would relish coming up against his former colleagues, having also played for Ajax too. He said: "I'll definitely play against one of my former teams because we will play either Celtic or Ajax.
"If we could play against Celtic, I would be really excited to face all my teammates from last season.
"I can't wait to play in the tournament. My beginnings at Como have gone really well. I like the Italian atmosphere and the team is fantastic, everyone is helping me settle in and I'm really happy to be here.
"The training centre is fantastic, the quality is high, and so far everything has been perfect. I think we have a lot of very good players in the squad."

Mikel Arteta confident Gabriel, Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber will be fit for start of Arsenal's season
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a positive update on defenders Gabriel, Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber, suggesting all three should be available for the start of the Premier League. Asked after Arsenal's 1-0 friendly defeat against Tottenham in Hong Kong whether there was any risk of them missing the match against Manchester United on August 21, Arteta told reporters: 'I don't think so. If they evolve like they've evolved in the last few days — Gabriel Magalhaes, Calafiori and Timber — the three of them will be available.' Advertisement Gabriel has not played in any of Arsenal's three friendlies in Asia after picking up an injury in training. Calafiori started the games against Milan and Newcastle, but was absent against Tottenham. Timber has been continuing his rehabilitation after undergoing surgery in May, but did take part in a training session with the team on Tuesday evening. Leandro Trossard was substituted against Tottenham, and Arteta confirmed he had suffered an injury. 'Yeah he felt a little tweak,' said the Arsenal manager. 'I think he tried to turn and he was pushed and he felt something muscular so we'll have to assess him.' Kepa Arrizabalaga, meanwhile, was absent from the squad after picking up a minor injury in Singapore. 'Yeah, he felt something as well in the game against Newcastle,' confirmed Arteta. 'I think it's a matter of days, probably. If that was the Premier League he could have played but we decided not to take a risk.' That final point is important — at this stage of pre-season, Arsenal are not inclined to take risks with players' fitness. If there is any doubt, they want to be cautious to ensure good availability at the start of the season. Although Arsenal were beaten by Spurs, Arteta said he felt the friendlies in Singapore and Hong Kong had been a useful exercise. 'Yes, for the three of them and today in particular,' he added. 'Again, it threw different demands and different understanding of things that we have to do. I am very pleased with what I've seen in most of the things that we've done, but we miss something in certain moments. That preciseness, that moment that unlocks the result, the moment to turn the result our way and with the match. 'But in terms of attitude, the desire, level of organisation in the team, it was great and we have to continue to elevate a little bit all the individual aspects.' Arsenal fly home on Friday, and have their two final friendlies at the Emirates Stadium next week against Villarreal (August 6) and Athletic Bilbao (August 9).

Authorities abandon recovery of German Olympian killed in Pakistan
Authorities have abandoned efforts to recover the body of German Olympic biathlete Laura Dahlmeier, who died in a mountaineering accident in Pakistan this week. Dahlmeier was confirmed dead on Wednesday, having been hit by falling rocks while climbing at an altitude of 5,700 metres (18,700 feet) on Laila Peak in the Karakoram range. Attempts to recover her body were abandoned due to "dangerous" conditions at the site, Dahlmeier's management agency said Thursday. In consultation with the Alpine Club of Pakistan, the agency said her relatives would "continue to monitor the situation... and are keeping the option of arranging a rescue at a later date". Several of Dahlmeier's colleages confirmed the two-time Olympic gold medallist had said she did not want her body recovered if it put any would-be rescuers at risk. German mountaineer Thomas Huber was part of a team who had attempted a rescue but told reporters on Thursday: "We have decided she should stay, because that was her wish." Another member of the rescue team, American Jackson Marvell told AFP it would be "disrespectful" to recover her body contrary to her wishes. Marvell said "the recovery of Laura's body will be possible, but it involves incredible risks, both on foot and by helicopter". Dahlmeier's climbing partner Marina Krauss, who was with her at the time of the incident, said at a press conference on Thursday the former Olympian did not move after being caught in a rockfall. "I saw Laura being hit by a huge rock and then being thrown against the wall. And from that moment on, she didn't move again," Krauss told reporters. Krauss said she was unable to reach Dahlmeier and called for outside support. "It was impossible for me to get there safely. "It was clear to me the only way to help her was to call a helicopter. She didn't move, she didn't show any signs (of movement). I called out to her, but there was no response." "She only had a chance if help arrived immediately," she said. Dahlmeier won seven world championship gold medals, and at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang she became the first woman biathlete to win both the sprint and the pursuit at the same Games. Dahlmeier retired from professional competition in 2019 at the age of 25. dwi/dhw
