Olaplex's new shampoo and conditioner gave my hair 'instant volume'
Now, less than three months since the launch of Olaplex's No.0.5 scalp longevity treatment (£41, Sephora.co.uk), the brand has treated us to two more 2025 releases designed for fine hair. The new drops are variations on the existing No. 4 and 5 shampoo and conditioner (£56 for both, Cultbeauty.co.uk), swapping heavier conditioning ingredients like amodimethicone (a type of silicone) for lighter alternatives such as behentrimonium chloride (derived from rapeseed).
I wanted to see how this change, alongside more than 50 other ingredient modifications, impacted the feel and appearance of fine hair. As one of the first people to get my hands on the new fine bond maintenance formulas (£30 each, Olaplex.com), I did just that. Scroll on for my first impressions after several weeks of hair washing.
How I tested
After receiving Olaplex's new formulas, I immediately got to work using the fine hair-specific shampoo and conditioner. I solely used these products on wash days for several weeks and made sure to rinse and repeat at the shampoo stage. As I do in my usual conditioning routine, I then left the No. 5 fine bond maintenance conditioner on my hair for two to three minutes to do its thing while combing through any tangles in the shower. I then rinsed and blow-dried as normal.
Why you can trust IndyBest reviews
In addition to heading up The Independent 's guide to the very best shampoo and conditioners, I've reviewed dozens of hair wash formulas, including those by Monday and The Ordinary. I've also covered Olaplex's blow-dry mist and the top deals on the brand's bestselling No. 3 hair perfector. I have plenty of know-how when it comes to key ingredients and have interviewed a variety of trichologists and expert hair stylists in my years as a beauty journalist.

Oasis reunion spikes 89% increase in bucket hat sales in months before 2025 tour
In the run-up to the 2025 tour beginning, Oasis have revived their classic 90s styles as bucket hat and parka sales skyrocket - and it's not too late to shop your own The countdown is almost over for one of the biggest reunion tours of all time, as brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher return as Oasis this Friday in Cardiff. The hotly anticipated tour is the culmination of months of speculation, a feverish ticket sale, and a long, long 16-year wait from fans. Oasis have not performed together since August 22 2009, when they played V Festival in Staffordshire, during their Dig Out Your Soul Tour. The band's next scheduled gig at the Rock en Seine festival i n Paris on August 28, 2009 became the stuff of rock legend... for all the wrong reasons. Following the initial frenzy of the ticket release back in August last year, tickets are still available via sellers like Ticket Master, so fans still stand a chance to attend the much-awaited 2025 tour with only a matter of days left before the first show. Rumours also suggest that more tickets are still set to be released. If you missed your chance in the initial sale or are looking to secure tickets to any of the upcoming tour dates, see below. Or check out our Live Blog to keep up to date on all things Oasis as the tour kicks off. With the much-anticipated Oasis reunion set for later this week, die-hard fans might be keen to emulate their favourite band members. The band's comeback performances are bound to stir up nostalgia, particularly among 90s kids who idolised their unique style. Liam and Noel Gallagher unveiled the full details of their first gigs in 16 years this morning, posing in outfits reminiscent of their mid-2000s style. The band's fashion was deeply rooted in British working-class culture. They often wore casual gear like parkas, bucket hats, and Adidas trainers, reflecting a "lad's" style that struck a chord with their followers. But how can YOU nail the 90s/2000s look today? As it turns out, bucket hats are among many iconic clothing items that have rocketed in sales in the run-up to the Oasis reunion tour. According to Klarna, the global digital bank and flexible payment provider, reveals a Supersonic rise in rock 'n 'roll-inspired purchases, including bucket hats, which are back in a big way. According to Klarna's data, purchases have jumped 79% year-on-year (2024-2025), with a whopping 89% in the last 3 months. If you're looking for an affordable bucket hat to complete your look for the upcoming tour dates, look no further, as we've found plenty to shop without breaking the bank. Highstreet brand Marks & Spencer is offering this Pure Cotton Reversible Bucket Hat, which offers two styles for the price of one, at £18. Elsewhere, you can find this Unisex Bucket Hat in a variety of colours for £12.74 on Amazon. Both the Gallagher brothers are fans of Adidas, as the Adidas Gazelles became a huge part of their iconic look, so why not secure some synergy with an Adidas 3-Stripes Bucket Hat for £21.99 from Sports Direct? Or if you're after that washed denim 90s look, this Nike denim bucket hat at ASOS could be just the ticket for £32.99. And if you really do want to copy Liam Gallagher's iconic look, you can still shop his exact bucket hat from Flannels with the Kangol Stripe Bucket Hat for £32. How to buy tickets on resale? viagogo and resale tickets Sites such as viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that ticket conditions often prohibit resale after initial purchase. Those tickets may not be valid for admittance to gigs. Fans intending to buy tickets for live events through resale websites should check the ticket terms and conditions, to confirm whether resale is prohibited, before they buy. Ticket terms and conditions can be checked with the original seller, such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation. If resale is prohibited, tickets bought second-hand could be voided and admission to the event refused. Oasis tickets are available right now from a number of online retailers. This includes both official and resale websites. Fans will likely want to peruse Ticketmaster's wares first, as they have been touted as the original seller of the band's tour tickets. However, the online media giant has not had any tickets for some time. And, at the time of writing, only people with allocated codes can buy here's the link: TICKETMASTER - Buy Oasis tickets here. Otherwise, resale websites are where fans ought to be looking the most. Oasis have signposted Twickets as their official resale websites, however, they have not had tickets for a very long time. As a result, fans have flocked to the likes of viagogo, Vivid Seats and StubHub instead. And, at the time of writing, some Oasis tickets are being sold for around £200 each on viagogo. Here's the links: STUBHUB - Buy Oasis tickets here.

Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025: Six bars in Singapore make it on the 51-100 list
It's that time of the year again: Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025 is drawing near, and ahead of the top 50 announcement ceremony on July 15, the academy has first released its usual extended 51-100 list last evening. This year, Singapore sweeps the charts again with six of our bars making the extended ranking. We may be two short of last year, but the good news is that we're still the city with the most bars on the list. In particular, we celebrate a fresh face: Side Door steps straight into the spotlight with an impressive debut at No. 53. Tucked away inconspicuously along Neil Road, Side Door is the brainchild of acclaimed bartender Bannie Kang (anyone remember her Bartender's Bartender win in 2021?) and chef Tryson Quek. The cosy space fuses Bannie's clean, minimalist cocktails with thoughtful small plates – and evidently, the judges noticed. It's not the best day for everyone else on the list, with some major tumbles from last year's top 50 rankings. Following closely behind Side Door is Sago House at No. 56, slipping from last year's 15th place on the main list. Pause the panic though – the gritty, graffiti-splashed dive bar is still a long-time favourite for its fuss-free drinks and relentless charm. There's also Origin Bar (No. 60) which placed at No. 32 last year, known for its transportative, travel-themed menu. Night Hawk (No. 77) also takes a hit – it ranked at 16th place last year – but the bar is still making waves with its cinematic speakeasy concept and excellent drinks. Rounding off the list for Singapore: OG stalwart Employees Only (No. 89) slips off its 38th place from last year, and Fura (No. 95 this year, No. 42 in 2024) bags the final spot for Singapore with its planet-friendly cocktails and bar bites. This year's extended list spans 23 cities in Asia and 14 new entries, reflecting the region's dynamic cocktail landscape. The main Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025 list will be revealed live in Macau on July 15, marking the first time the awards touch down in the city. Fingers crossed that we'll see even more Singapore bars make the final cut, especially after a particularly stellar performance last year. While we wait, check out the full Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025 51-100 list below:

I'm a hairdresser and here's my three major client icks, your floppy neck is just the start
A HAIRDRESSER has revealed the three things clients do that give her the "ick" - and eye contact is a major issue. Danielle, from Aberdeen, regularly shares her styling tips and favourite haircare products on social media (@dp_blondeexpert). 1 A hairdresser revealed the three 'icks' that clients do at appointments Credit: Alamy In a recent video, the mum of one opened the lid on the annoying habits customers have that hair experts always notice. Danielle said: "I thought it'd be fun to share my top three client icks because I'm a hairdresser and I have been for like 18 years. "This is light hearted, it's just a little bit fun." First up, she poked fun at clients with "floppy necks" - including her own mum. She explained: "Every hairdresser has experienced this. Doesn't matter how lightly you put your comb or your brush on your client's head, they just lose all strength in their neck. I don't know why. FYI, my mum is one of them." Next, Danielle revealed that clients running late can be an ick if they finally arrive with a specific item. "When a client arrives late with a takeout coffee, you guys are bold", she laughed. "When I was younger, that used to p*** me off, but see now, I love it. Cause I'm like, you don't give a f***. "You're like, 'yeah I'm late, dare you to ask me where I was'. And I do not." And the hair expert has pleaded with clients to stop doing the final ick on her list which she insists that hairdressers find "creepy AF". I'm a hairdresser & it's controversial but I hate the Dyson Airwrap - a £20 buy is just as good… Olaplex is rubbish too She said: "When you are lying in the basin, you don't have to shut your eyes, but what you do not do is like lean all the way back and stare at us. "Like don't, don't make eye contact. When you're in the basin, we do not appreciate eye contact. "Don't know what it is, but it's like, just, it's intense. Relax, close your eyes, zen out for a few minutes, but do not stare at us." Other hairdressers immediately flooded Danielle's comments with their thoughts on her list. "Number 1 is 100% the worst", one insisted. A second added: "When they come in with the take away coffee! Like babe if your gona be late at least bring me a coffee!!" "Haha the basin one I would never", added a third. A fourth wrote: "Omg the floppy neck gets me every time and the basin stare." A fifth cried: "The basin eyeball, cannae cope with it!!! Always worry I have visible snotters on show. Actually had a client tell me one day that 'I had a bat in the cave'," Meanwhile, a sixth echoed: "Ahhhhhh don't stare at meeeeeee hahahahah it's the worst isn't it." Danielle earlier revealed the big mistake people make when washing their hair - and it could be wrecking your locks. She said: "If you shampoo the ends of your hair, you are doing it wrong. "Shampoo is for cleaning your scalp and roots of your hair. "Shampooing the ends can cause tangling and possible breakage." She also revealed the three shampoo brands she swears by that she always recommends to customers. As well as in-salon hair services, Danielle offers online tutorials to help her fellow hairdressers perfect their colouring skills - in particular, bleaching and balayage.
